  • FAPPED INSIDE THIS COCKTAVARIUM. FAPPED INSIDE THIS COCKTAVARIUM.

  • I am Chuck Norris and I APPROVE this song

  • Amazing, a simple chord change in the beginning and the crowd goes wild!

  • Its a shame that there are so few bands and musicians creative enough to make a song like this, this long, that flows so nicely together, that transitions so well, with so much creativity, free of ridiculous repetition, that you can sit down and listen to the whole 27 minutes, and still be amazed, DREAM THEATER FTW

  • you can not like dream theater, that's fine, but you gotta respect any band that can play a 27 minute song almost note for note from the record

  • Very good, 4600 people have same musical taste with me. I'm just being positive.

  • Stupid cameras, during Rudess keyboard solo they focuses on bass and guitar players, that's dumb. Anyway, such an amazing piece of work.

  • thumbs up if u love dream theatre and pink floyd!

  • AMAZING!! Only Dream Theater can play that!!!

  • I have the album and listen it so much are there any other albums I would maybe like from this band? Please tell me!

  • @DJBazzBeat66 Start with their first one, and then up till about the last one they put out, and everything in between. Every single song is a masterpiece.

  • @DJBazzBeat66 I just got my first album, Black Clouds and Silver Linings. It's amazing.

  • Yup, dats how Rudess does it: TWO KEYBOARDS AT ONCE!!!

  • @KingofRock943 So do most of the best keyboard players, tbh! Keith Emerson and Rick Wakeman do, too.

  • keren sekali...^^

  • Masterpiece...

  • They stretched the intro too much.....and it was awesome!!! :D

  • I love this! Wish I could watch more but MY SUPPERS READY.

  • Is this their own Close to the Edge or Supper's Ready or Gates of Delirium or ELP's Piano Concerto Nº 1 or Pictures on an Exibition or Zep's Dazed 'n Confussed or Thick as a Brick or Awaken or Dance on a Volcano ??????

It's Epic.......... lot a work on it. I'm impressed.

  • @SASPython

    No, that's Mike Portnoy's penis.

  • @MlKEPORNTOY hahaha Mike Porn Toy CLASSIC!

  • Why does Jordan's flute patch sound so bad? Is it just me or does John's 12 string sound more realistic here than on Score?

  • is there also a dislike button??!?

  • this is fuckin awesome

  • This isn't the best live version of this.Check it out on Score!!!! To all of you disrespecting dream theater:why are you watching this to begin with?

  • on of the most amazing bands that will ever exist.

  • jordan rudess is fucking amazing :O

  • Clapping along.....the audience are brave haha

  • Is it me or does Jordan has a Naruto Seal on his shirt? I like Naruto, but this just noticed me...

  • Why smoke if you can listen to Octavarium and travel sooooooo far away ?

    Amazing performance !

  • I started from 36 degrees. My body temperature is now 41.

  • Awesome!

  • JOHN MYUNG IS AWESOME! \m/

  • jordan+continuum=wet pants

  • in my opinion the best artist have always a better live performance :))

  • They should make an announcement.

Hi folks, 99% of the following tunes have been done before. But we like them, and therefore we'll repeat them as long as we are paid for it !

  • @duefoscari wot?

  • I feel like I'm in a theater made of.... Dreams. :O

  • rudess needs a psychological therapy after the intro solo.

  • I hope they play this when I go on the 24th!

  • i hate the james labrie live singing is better on the album!

  • if this song was a sandwitch it would be a good sandwitch

  • @ihasacat If never heard of a witch trained in the element of sand though...

  • Intro sounded like Steve Vai.

  • only Dream Theater can make people stare intense at the screen for 27. min in 240p

  • @fulegutten 100 likes on your comment

  • @fulegutten Only Dream Theater can make people listen to this song twice: One in studio version, and then come and listen to it again live.

  • @fulegutten HD is for pop singers.

  • @fulegutten how can an epic fail post like this be so highly rated? oh yes, the same people which like the last 2 albums

  • @LMTR14 If you dont like it, then DONT watch it. especially since you just leave crappy comments. We dont need you hear.

  • @fulegutten here*

  • @fulegutten not only too stupid to spell but, you're too stupid to read too? octavarium was NOT on one of the last 2 albums, it's a genius song

  • @LMTR14 Just stop sending messages to me. Nobody want to hear you oppinion. Oh and the spelling part, Excuse me, but its not my main language, and if u are to ignorant to understand that, then its not my Problem. ok thanks bye.

  • @fulegutten yeah you're blocked asshole

  • @duefoscari, you say look for something valuable. You say that DT doesn't do anything original. Ok then, recommend to me something valuable and original. Enlighten me. I am all for someone introducing me to phenomenal musicians. Please, name some of your favorites. I look forward to your recommendations. Thanks! ps. No matter what you think about Dream Theater, they are extremely good at what they do WHETHER OR NOT someone else did it before them.

  • ke pedo con el pantalon de mariachi de Petrucci......

  • Missed a decisive point: if you're 18 and you didn't have the time to listen to old tunes ... then it's very probable you'll find something interesting here. Youth must make its experiences. That's natural. Hope you're bored by these tunes very soon and look for something valuable !

  • can't disagree more, i'm sorry, im into old prog music as much as i love Dt.

  • They did a bit of history here and a lot of people are fascinated by this kind of stuff.

Sorry again: these guys can't even do a good copy of ELP tunes ! ELP wasn't one of my favourites in the 70s :-) ....it's sounding nice, but there is no trace of meaning, impact or devotion in it !

  • @duefoscari Very true, along with Yes the worst prog band in my humble opinion. If you compare them with Genesis... they are a laugh

  • @JeffELOLynne Did you just say Yes was the worst prog band? Oh shit. Take a listen to Relayer, Close To The Edge and Tales From Topographic Oceans. Genesis is crap compared to these masterpieces (I'm a Genesis fan but I have to admit Yes did more innovative, technical and for me emotional and beautiful stuff than Genesis.

  • @henrythe8thhh Over the top, overly ambieated noise in my opinion mate, sorry. I got lots of respect for the members of Yes: I like Anderson's voice and Wakeman is a nice chap(although I really dislike his keyboard showoffs), but I find them truly overrated. If you wanna hear the most technical approved proggers you better listen to Gentle Giant or Gryphon imho.

  • @JeffELOLynne Well, sure, but I didn't say Yes is the MOST technical prog band ever. I just said that compared to Genesis they are a lot more technical! Look at Hacket, Rutherford and at Banks (even if he's the most technical member). The members of Yes play their instruments better. And if you like Gabriel's or Collins' voice better than Anderson's or Horn's it is your opinion. I know that It's subjective and we can't say who's better, but I was only wondering because of what you said ;)

  • Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze....Yes, Pink Floyd and even some german grammar school bands of the 70s did this kind of stuff. Most of these tunes were already there, when DT began to "borrow" them. Why not admit that these guys have done nothing new ?

  • @duefoscari I don't think you listened to this song at all, considering how ignorant you sound in this comment. This song is about the cyclical nature of things, how everything goes around in circles, how history repeats iself, how every morning you wake up and go through the same motions. This song is a tribute song, and ode to the history of prog metal, they reference Pink Floyd a couple of of times throughout this song. I would write more, but I think you get the point, plus i'm out of chars.

  • @duefoscari

Seriously dude just lay off DT theyve been through a lot latley mith MP leavin andother crap like tht give em a brake this an amazing song and its not just about how technical u get, its the quality of it and these guys are loaded with quality

  • This is the best song of all time in my opinion. It is just beyond perfect in every way. The melodies make me shiver, the solo's are incredible, it's imaginative, the lyrics are ingenious and the complexity of the song is overwhelming. AND they play it live..? There is really no other music like this.

  • I love this song!!!! dream theater are amazing!!!!!! :)

  • @duefoscari Dude I really hope you are kidding. If you cannot see the musicallity that is Dream Theater, then you are blind. Or deaf. I understand if you don't like them, but calling them not musical is just wrong.

  • @duefoscari Dude they are on Roadrunner records and constantly seem to wow audiences even after 25 years. Maybe your expectations are way too high

  • @duefoscari You just dont get anything do you...

  • 27:16 minutos de musica verdadeira!!!

    Dream theater Rules

  • Metal keyboarder EPIC WIN!!!!!

  • The entire intro section is Keys and a device called a Continuum, and he's having a bit of fun with it because it's live and who doesn't like to show off while performing?

  • Comment removed

  • almost as good as YES!! and thats saying something.

  • Jordan, your instrument sounds like shit, get a move on

  • @glint20 your comment sounds like shit. move on to a different video.

  • @HunterKolb The only person in the entire concert having fun for the first 7 minutes of this video is Jordan Rudess

  • @glint20 are you not fermiliar with this song? the first 7 minutes is all jordan and johnP doing shit in free time time signature.

  • @HunterKolb Pretty sure it was all keyboard for the first 7 minutes here.

  • @MapleLeafAce i think it´s guitar and keyboard...

  • @destracktion well if it was, Petrucci must have been hiding behind the keyboards.

  • @MapleLeafAce i think he stood where he allways stands but this side of the stage is dark aduring the intro

  • @HunterKolb dream theater always use a click live!

  • @HunterKolb I'm quite familiar with the song, but the intro should last about 4 minutes, not 7, and Petrucci should have a go instead of Jordan ruining his and John's parts

  • Jordan was having too much fun at the beginning

  • I love the Intervals section in this, especially live. It all comes together so aggressively, then slows down into Razor's Edge, and just ends in such an epic way.

  • amazing..

  • This completely sucks from 27:26

  • Jordan is an amazing player!! at 00:00 to 27:26

  • How did u upload the whole song im trying to put a 24 min vid on here too how can I do it please and thank u

  • This song completely redefines epic...

  • Bellissimo questo video

  • Che fomento che mi da' Petrucci alla fine.

  • 1. Look up "Octavarium Analysis" on Google

    2. Click on the 1st Link

    3. Have your mind blown...

  • Epico...assolutamente meraviglioso questo pezzo...

  • I swear the first 7 mins is like an intense love making scene! an..eargasm..THIS SONG ALWAYS GIVES ME THE CHILLS! Especially 17:34-19:19 und 22:17-23:17 und 23:39- 27:26 und the bass at the end was cool...would have been better if I were there =]

  • DT one of the best bands

It would be an honor if rockers like you guys visit

this is my music, would like to know how do you see my music

Thanks guys and keep rockin \m/

  • @AymanKing2008 I dig it. Particularly Psycho Therapy.

  • How can anyone hate any part of this progressive metal masterpiece? It's pure epicocity.

  • Best song ever made in world history.

  • i really hate the first 7 minutes, but i can hold it because then i have a 20 minutes orgasm

  • @stjimmysama that's what she said...

  • @stjimmysama

weird thing, I also hated the first part of this song. Somehow now it seems to be the most beautiful thing in the world, although I don't like the live version that much cause imo Rudess overuses the wah-like effect.

  • @stjimmysama Ha youre like the total opposite of me. ;]

  • at first i thought Petrucci on the starting solo

  • 23:16... the most a Canadian has ever gotten pissed off...

  • @BobV97

    indeed

  • Hail PINK FLOYD!!!

  • I think that all time low advert at the right of my page should say 'look left to watch the amazing video'

  • Holly Shit, Petrucci is wearing mariachi pants!

  • Check out my instrument cover of Razor's Edge :)

  • <3

  • I listen this song from jogja - solo in my car (+- 60km) and the song still plays

  • @blatzuark hahahaha emang keren bgt lagunya

  • There's just too many good parts to point out in the comments haha - it's a masterpiece.

  • JLB ... \m/ BEST band on the planet!

  • 23:16 He hit that F5 so perfectly my page refreshed.

  • @MrFluffay I've read it's a G5

  • @MrFluffay

    mm isn't it g5?

  • @MrFluffay Good thing it was 240p huh!? :D

  • @MrFluffay lol is actually a G5 but whatever XD

  • 16:05 And just when you thought that solo couldn't go any faster OR be any more perfect, the Keyboard Wizard pulls off the double whammy!

    LONG LIVE JORDAN RUDESS!

  • I LOVE XIAH XD

  • one day there were 3 men. one said i have the world's smallest head. the next said i have the worlds biggest feet. the next said i am the most talented instrumentalist.

next day the went to the Guinness world records office to have this checked out. the first man said wow i do have the smallest head! the next said wow i do have the biggest feet!

the last man, angrily, said WHO THE HELL ARE DREAM THEATER??

  • Between 25:02 to 26:40 the world stops to listen Petrucci's solo.

  • wtf!? 162 people, WHO ARE THOSE GUYS!?! 162 people don't have a life.

  • @mrmarinheiro

He's a great singer in the studio, but sometimes he lets you down live. When he does deliver live it adds to this stew of awesome the rest of the guys are making. When he doesn't though it's like waiting for the big hit that just doesn't come, it's disappointing.

  • @vera881

what do you mean the golden ratio?

  • This was a pretty good vocal performance by LeBrie

  • 23:16

  • Jordan Rudess is a wizard. I mean look at his beard. If only he has that pointy hat

  • i love dream theater

  • i think Rudess got an orgasm when he first played that touchpad thingy.... Actually, he plays with that like he's having one with every touch....

  • 161 people are trapped inside the Octavarium.

  • Lol @ the dragonforce rules opinion comment....

Yes, that's the magic continuum and the lap steel guitar.

  • cool,dream theater.

  • what's that instrument at the beginning?

  • @wacik14 according to wiki, "The song starts with Jordan Rudess using his Haken Continuum and his lap steel guitar". I'm not sure if that's what he used here or if he was just triggering the sounds with a synth.

  • @wacik14 It's a continuum from Haken

  • @wacik14 A fingerboard.

  • I think that this band is much talented than any other heavy bands, even Iron Maiden or Metallica

  • @DragonForceRules100 I agree.. but.. your name is "DragonForceRules100".. so.. your opinion doesn't count..

  • @nmlss666 hahahahahahahahaha

  • badass at 17:12

  • Comment removed

  • Before they played this song the band members had a meeting.

    It went something like this:

Alright guys if anyone fucks this up your out of the band

  • Best part 17:11

  • haha at 3:50 LaBrie tells Jordan Rudess to mess around for another 10 minutes because Mike had to take a dump.

  • lol playing that long must be rough

  • the beginning of this song reminds me of 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond' by Pink Floyd.

  • @randomn00bie yeah it does a lot now that you pointed that out

  • @randomn00bie Well... It's progressive Metal my friend XD ^-^ ... DT got their influences from progressive rock bands like RUSH, Pink Floyd and Yes! as well as the more heavy stuff of metal like Iron Maiden :)

  • @SrarWhiteDream yea definitely can't forget about yes!

  • @randomn00bie - there's a lot of Pink Floyd influence in the album.

  • one of the great rock band in the world

  • epic song

  • My god what a performance! They are fucking flawless, and this has got to be my favorite DT song!

  • I apologize of this has already been asked, but what the hell kind of synth is he playing that is able to give such diverse and realistic guitar sounds?

  • @eightieslou idk what it is but its some kind of ubber awesome keyboard, search for "octavarium score" its a live version from a dvd (called score) and there you get the perspective of jordans solo and you can see the crazy ass synth, believe me youll understand when you see it

  • @MrFluffay - Found out what he is playing. It is called a Continuum Fingerboard. I cannot wait to try one.
