Great form. My only critique would be to keep your racquet up. You are starting your swing with the racquet to your side. The half second or so that it takes for you to bring your arm up and back down can cause a lot of skipped balls. If you keep your racquet up in the "L" position you will be ready to swing and you will have more snap on your balls.
@kkbodie I would say that his ERP is spot on, Some pros have their racquet prep in that same position, helps you wind up more snap adding a little more power to you shot, might also be a crucial part of his "shot timing"...
I personally shoot my racquet straight out towards the side wall, allows me to control my swing a bit more... I generate my power from my arm and rotation,
Thanks. Yes I know what you mean. That wobble is from a broken femur, some days my leg/hips hurt and it difficult to rotate. I agree with being balanced, but on some occasions when you drive your weight into your lead leg your back foot will come off. Search for Drive Serve Mechanics, Kane Wasalenchuk. His back foot is off the ground the entire swing.
nice mechanics! i would suggest though tilting woul racquet about 30 degrees towards the floor instead of having it perpendicular to the side wall, it helps keep the ball down especialy when you go for the rollout, otherwise great mechanics
Thanks for the tip. But I have to disagree with you. I went to a camp taught by #4 & #5 ranked pros. They teach to keep the racquet as flat as possible, parallel to the floor. It's difficult to skip cause the racquet is coming through flat. You bend your knees to hit low/roll. At 30 deg you're getting close to a "golf" swing, skips are much easier cause you're swinging DOWN at the ball. We looked at pics of top 10 pros, Kane's racquet is almost always Perfectly flat, Beltran has a golf swing.
Thanks a lot! ill keep that in mind. hey i noticed you play with an extreme 170. i actually just purchased one for myself, and its an awesome racquet. i remembered a comment of yours about the waselenchuk racquet and you were right, the pro kennex handle was a little uncomfortable when i demoed it, but the racquet itself is really fun to play with. i just had to save myself the $60, and plus, the new Head racquets are sort of modeled after the extremes, or so ive heard.
thanks

the ball was parallel to the ground the whole way, awesome job.
Im 5 foot 6. i stand up a little more than usual, but thats because im already low to the ground. you think i should keep it that way?

Most the very good players are shorter. Yes stay as low as you can on every shot make it a habit. Thanks

Very nice mechanics. Flat and Level swing is the way to go. Good job.

Thanks. I've video taped over and over and put a lot of work into perfecting my form. I still have a few things to work on.
