my generation has always lived in kashmir so i find it really strange when some indians say they gave us pakistan and mohajirs complaining about the partition all the time.

So, you are NOT Kashmiri then, but a pahari/dogri speaker. Stope calling yourself one. People that speak your language aren't kashmiri, but are called dogras and paharis and live in the Jammu region of the state of Jammu & Kashmir.

Kashmiris are the people who live in the Kashmir valley and speak Kaeshur. Our culture and language is more akin to the Shina people of the Northern Areas of Pakistan and the Pashayi of North East Afghanistan ... whereas you guys sound like Punjabis.

The real name of the pre-partition state was Jammu & Kashmir and the region that your grandparents are from is actually a part of the Jammu division.

The undivided J&K state was formed out of 4 main regions: 1. Kashmir Valley, 2. Jammu dvision (including the hilly areas of Poonch, Rajouri, Uri, Baderwah etc.) 3. Ladakh division (including Kargil) 4. Gilgit-Baltistan

Kashmiris are the people who live in 1. The Ladakhis and Arghons of Tibetan stock live in 3. The Baltis and Shina people live in 4. And your ancestors are from 2.

In addition, Gojar nomads also live in region 2.

Actually, the official name of the province is AJK, or Azad Jammu & Kashmir. More specifically, the regions of the Jammu division of the erstwhile princely state now under Pakistani control.

During the 1947 Kashmir war, all of the Pakistani forces were cleared from the Kashmir valley. So, technically no part of Kashmir proper falls under Pakistani control.

Koeshur is spoken by 4-5 million people, & is the majority language in the region!

As far as independence goes, J&K is dominated by the Kashmir-speaking ethnic group from the Valley. Our language has recently been made compulsory for all school-going kids.

If you try to come to the valley and call yourself Kashmiri in that tindoo-pindoo pahari dialect of yours, people will laugh at you. So, I suggest accept your true identity and stop spoiling our good name.

Kaeshur is one of the 12 scheduled languages recognised by India. So much for your claim that it is unrecognised. Kashmiri is the language of high culture and was given patronage in the Moghal court as well.

The state of J&K may be notionally in India, but we are NOT governed by the Indian Constitution. We have protected status under article 370 (look it up on the web), which means NO OUTSIDER can own any assets in J&K.

Even the Indian state institutions (banks, railways etc.) own nothing and are on LEASED land and have to pay for keeping it.

Kashmiris want to be clubbed with your tindu-pindu Azad (pile of rubble) Kashmir as much as developed S Korea wants to be seen with fundos from N Korea!
