If you are studyiung in the US .Go to you library and try to get via interlibrary loan .......thats what I did .................its worth it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hmm a heck of alot of ppl were displaced but its not like everyone or even the majority of ppl had to move..
my generation has always lived in kashmir so i find it really strange when some indians say they gave us pakistan and mohajirs complaining about the partition all the time.
and i was born in the uk so this sentimentalism of land is really lost on me lol seems like an issue which leads to alot of shit happening e.g. israelis n palestinians
So, you are NOT Kashmiri then, but a pahari/dogri speaker. Stope calling yourself one. People that speak your language aren't kashmiri, but are called dogras and paharis and live in the Jammu region of the state of Jammu & Kashmir.
Kashmiris are the people who live in the Kashmir valley and speak Kaeshur. Our culture and language is more akin to the Shina people of the Northern Areas of Pakistan and the Pashayi of North East Afghanistan ... whereas you guys sound like Punjabis.
oh i see ur from the the area the indians stole, jammu is more to the south wherea mirpur where im from is the west and is called AZAD KASHMIR
people speak all kinds of languages in "kashmir" so i dont see what ur problem is unless u think mirpur isnt kashmir anymore ?
"Kashmiri, despite accounting for the largest number of speakers in the state, occupies only a relatively small area centering on the Vale of Kashmir."
sorry i meant ancestors (as in grandparents) and by kashmir i meant azad kashmir aka mirpur
i neither know which "bit" of kashmir u define as true kashmiri and what u define as the "true" language of kashmir :S
from what i can see there are a wide wide variety of languages spoken there and doesnt make u any less kashmiri than not (as long as u live within what is defined as kashmir on a map!!!)
anyways ur video sucked no wonder u r a lil uptight dost, watch this :P
Just because some Hindkos and Punjabis live in NWFP, it doesn't make them Pashtun ...
Just because Pashtuns live in Karachi, it doesn't make them Sindhi ...
In the same manner, just because you call your sliver of land "Azad" Kashmir, doesn't make you Kashmiri ... 'cause you neither speak Kashmiri, nor know our culture and our ethos.
The real name of the pre-partition state was Jammu & Kashmir and the region that your grandparents are from is actually a part of the Jammu division.
Since your geography is so weak, I'll help you with the basics.
The undivided J&K state was formed out of 4 main regions: 1. Kashmir Valley, 2. Jammu dvision (including the hilly areas of Poonch, Rajouri, Uri, Baderwah etc.) 3. Ladakh division (including Kargil) 4. Gilgit-Baltistan
Kashmiris are the people who live in 1. The Ladakhis and Arghons of Tibetan stock live in 3. The Baltis and Shina people live in 4. And your ancestors are from 2.
u can try and split all the regions up as much as u like, it still wont mean they dont all form J&K (notice azad kashmir is always part of J&K on any map)
concerning language more people speak hindi or urdu and even english than the koshur u speak so ur language point is a load of rubbish too.
Azad Kashmir...work it out...the hint is in the name...
dont worry about ur culture and ethos coz no one else knows about them either ;)
lol u guys from the kashmiri valley got issues not only do u not want to be paki or indian, u also reject other people from kashmir damn, u gonna end up with just ur one house being an independant state hahaha
Actually, the official name of the province is AJK, or Azad Jammu & Kashmir. More specifically, the regions of the Jammu division of the erstwhile princely state now under Pakistani control.
During the 1947 Kashmir war, all of the Pakistani forces were cleared from the Kashmir valley. So, technically no part of Kashmir proper falls under Pakistani control.
Koeshur is spoken by 4-5 million people, & is the majority language in the region!
As far as independence goes, J&K is dominated by the Kashmir-speaking ethnic group from the Valley. Our language has recently been made compulsory for all school-going kids.
If you try to come to the valley and call yourself Kashmiri in that tindoo-pindoo pahari dialect of yours, people will laugh at you. So, I suggest accept your true identity and stop spoiling our good name.
azad kashmiri's had the ballz to rebel against the raja so india cud not take us over, which is why we are azad kashmiri's
unfortunately ur kind were not so brave...stick to tending to ur mountain goats and saying yes boss to ur indian masters
ur language is a joke no one in pakistan or india recognises it lol only recently has it been reintroduced in schools only in that tiny little valley u dwell in.
at least potwari is far more known, (80% of uk pakistanis are my kind) :P
Kaeshur is one of the 12 scheduled languages recognised by India. So much for your claim that it is unrecognised. Kashmiri is the language of high culture and was given patronage in the Moghal court as well.
I live in London (St John's Wood, to be precise), not in Bradford or Luton or some ghetto frequented by your types. You guys run riot here, get involved in all kinds of drug abuse, terrorist activities (aren't some of the 7/7 bombers of your ilk?) and have the gall to call us terrorists!
Azad my arse ... your tiny strip of land is a terrorist training hotbed and whatever infrastructure you had is now a pile of rubble due to the quake. It is overrun by punjabis, and now even has waziri suicide bombers running amock.
Come to Srinagar and drive down the boulevard around the Dal, with the fine scented air from the Zabarwan forests all around and you know what Kashmir really is, and compare it to the hell hole you inhabit.
hahaa u must be jokin who in their right mind wud come to the battle field of a valley u call home dear oh dear good name ? good name as terrorists and nothing more yeah lol
achieve somethin of note before u start comparing urself to the real azad kashmiris coz u r far from azad(free) in any sense of the word
koshur is a dying language and culture where as potwari is goin from strength to strength bless
youtube koshur n potwari and see how many more potwari videos there are u naive child :)
The state of J&K may be notionally in India, but we are NOT governed by the Indian Constitution. We have protected status under article 370 (look it up on the web), which means NO OUTSIDER can own any assets in J&K.
Even the Indian state institutions (banks, railways etc.) own nothing and are on LEASED land and have to pay for keeping it.
Kashmiris want to be clubbed with your tindu-pindu Azad (pile of rubble) Kashmir as much as developed S Korea wants to be seen with fundos from N Korea!
I saw this film at Cornell U last night-- what an amazing film! The cinematography is beautiful, all those little meaningful moments. I recommend everyone to see this film!

Sarah the clip is wonderfully done, the visuals are amazing..and the pulse of the military scene in the beginning is vivid and powerful.
This film really captures the human casualties of politics and it personalizes it by giving the viewer an intimate glimpse into the lives of those affected by the conflict.

I thought you said that your "generation has always lived in Kashmir". Or were you joking about it?
'Cause if you really are from Kashmir, you should be able to understand basic Kashmiri, at the very least. But you seem to be clueless.

That'll tell you what KASHMIRI really sounds like. You pahari guys have a massive identity crisis.

hmm no wonder there is constant discontent in the "kashmir valley" if people are anything like u
azad kashmir = azad kashmir
kashmir valley = kashmir valley
jammu = jammu
i hope u can understand this very very very simple logic
im from azad kashmir and u r probably from the kashmir valley...we are all kashmiri get that into ur head
koshur spoken by 4.6 million people
potwari spoken by 4,680,000 people
large amount of azad kashmiris abroad too so we outnumber ur valley language
