@EmeraldizingTheStars "The hunter stays hidden in a blind and sends the dog out to romp and play near the water, usually by tossing a ball or stick to be retrieved. Just like the fox the dog's activity and white markings pique the curiosity of waterfowl, who swim over to investigate. The act of enticing or luring game to approach is known as "tolling"- Wikipedia
@EmeraldizingTheStars nova scotia duck tolling retrievers were bred to toll. which means...they run back and forth along the edge of the water (say a lake or something) and they entice the ducks. this is the tolling process. then the duck becomes curious, moves closer and the hunter shoots the duck. then the dog retrieves it.
not suprising in the least, i have a 1st generation australian toller bred from two imported canadians,,,his vocal range is amazing, some times when you cuddle with him its like he is talking human-style jiberish rather than sounding like a dog
At last! Thanks for this. My Toller does this - quite shocked the first time I heard it as she was a rescue puppy and we had no idea of breed - I thought omg what is in her. She went crazy when she heard your dog and joined in. Have yet to catch her on film doing it.
WTF if I heard that I would think it's some retarded kids screaming "woooo!!!!!" or drunk ppl partying xD lol what a fluff ball!
