  • @gammaGTgammajereste ,,, je suis Ok,,, ca me va !

  • These guys are totally into Noisecore.

  • wow i love this! totally out of control. Screw rules and aesthetics, express the madman in you.

  • @MrRoycam what does that even mean? As far as I can hear, this is funky as hell- it's just really dissonant! Two guitarist is?I can think of a LOT whiter!

  • Brilliant! Marc was on a specially good night. Like he once put it "my main technique is disembodied rage". I don't know if this is progress or if it's moving things "forward" because it would be hard to define what "forward" means... but this kind of playing is definitely necessary. Cheers!

  • glorious!

  • this rules

  • mmmmmmmmmm, yummy for my earballs!

  • Experimental / Avant-Garde music is great cause music is something greater than just "standard" songs but sometimes I wonder if this "child-like" (I don't mean it in a bad way) experimental playing is actually progress, or just other desperate way of breaking the boundaries. Again I really like both Sharp and Ribot but contemporary music of this level is somewhat very controversial.

  • @bloodyfrets Yeah, I agree. I mean I really get it because it feels great to have that freedom to play whatever and have no boundaries. I take this kind of music more as a statement as a musician but it is not necessarily something I would want to listen to. It does draw me in in a strange way but it is definitely not something pleasant to listen to.

  • @bloodyfrets are you serious?! Have you ever learnt to play like this??? It's not "child-like" it just uses different techniques to the usual ones... these guys are both exhibiting serious sonic chops. It's only controversial I think to people who don't get/enjoy the downtown aesthetic...

  • @SexonToastable Mark Ribot plays many different styles including avant garde experimental music. The rules there include experimentation with no limits sometimes. Its mainly the same techniques with different approach. Everything is allowed even random stuff like the ones in this video. It clearly is "child like" (=random, playful, not caring to much about accuracy and focusing on the spontaneity and the unknown outcome).

It is quite clear that you are just trying to be snobbish and immature.

  • @SexonToastable I think if you told Marc Ribot his playing was "child-like" he'd probably crack you upside the head. You still haven't answered my question... Have you ever learnt to play like this? There is plenty of limitation in this music... How in the hell am I "trying to be snobbish and immature" by having a different opinion to you?

  • @SexonToastable NO I haven't learned to play like this. And I don't think it matters. Music is supposed to be played for listeners not for players (even less only for players of this specific style!!!!). Music like the one you describe that you need to play it to understand it, to me its just music that fails to deliver. But even like that I am a player and I think Marc would understand what I mean by "child like". Apparently you just want to argue with me cause I already explained the metaphor.
