There were two issues that bothered me, the focus on the first shot is lost when tilting back down after seeing Kristen. Also, from the first shot to the second the change in color is very noticeable, and feels strange. Otherwise, I feel you guys did quite well for being outside on that windy day. - LaBonty
I liked the lens flare it gives it a cool look. I agree that I am a little orange, it was hard to prevent that seeing that the sun was in that area at the time. The sound is choppy as well. I liked the way it was focused and that we took advantage of the natural light that we had.
The lens flare was an artistic touch that we went for but im not entirely convinced it was necessary or that it added anything to the scene. The color temperature difference bothered me the most and should have been taken into account while lighting.
The audio is garbled in the right channel. The lens flare and difference in color temperature are the only other issues I noticed. Great use of natural light and the HMI on a cloudy, nearly rainy day. Focus and natural sounds were good.
The difference in color temperature doesn't bother me as much as the lens flare in the alley b/c Kristin is supposed to be a Jersey Shore member, so making her look a little orange actually helps that. I would like to see it a little more even tho, and next time a lens hood or something on that beautiful 7D.
The sound definitely is the biggest problem with our shoot. The shots themselves were good, and Stoner did a great job with the pull focus. However, the audio you hear a lot of unnecessary noise from equipment and footsteps. The lens flare on the second shot was very artsy as well! Ha - Ryan
Good overall. The lighting was done really well and it created the tension spot on. The only downfall is the audio. There was a lot of background noise and the equipment movements were heard. I kinda liked the sound of the leaves though, it gave that outdoors effect and a sense of panic, at least in my opinion. Good job though. --Tori C.
Audio, this is the section that gets most of my complaints. I felt as though we were hearing things that were unnecessary, like the crunching footsteps. Worst of all, I could hear the equipment running in the background. Electronic sound kinda ruins the experience, considering that the shots are done quite well. Chase music would be my suggestion, maybe a simple audio gate to get rid of those unnecessary small (but distracting) noises. Otherwise, I'm really happy with it. -Alex N
You guys did a great job with the lighting set up! To my recall it was a relatively cloudy day and it ended up raining a couple hours later. I liked the shadows on the wall, but found the lens flare distracting. It didn't necessarily have to be eliminated completely, but would have liked the shot better if the flare was reduced to avoid distraction by using a net or silk.
I also liked the lens flares. The difference in color temperature in the first shot could be viewed as an issue, but in way I kind of like it. It creates a separation. The only problems I see are the brief loss of focus in first shot and the audio in the shot right after Dan drags his feet kind falls off for a second. Overall, I liked it a lot.
The only issues that I noticed were the lens flare in the second shot and the differences in color temperature that Jenny pointed out. I really love the change of focus in the first shot and the acting. Very well lit, too, especially considering the challenges the sun/alleyway were giving you guys. Great stuff.
One technical thing that I did like was how smooth the second shot looked as Dan was walking down the brick wall. I also liked the location of the scenes. One problem that I noticed was the difference in color temperature during the first scene when Dan has minimal lighting and Kristen has bright warm light from the sun.
