Oh, my word...I never saw that. I was too busy filming! He must've gotten a text message, because he kept looking at it until 2:22 or so, when Tim came over! WOW.
It shouldn't be called a "split", IMHO. God just called them in different directions. Jay & Jon wanted to come off the road so Jay's a music minister & Jon's selling Fords. Both these men hit 10+ years before they came off the road so it's rather common. Mark wanted to slow down yet keep singing so he has his own trio but they stay kinda local to their home. Tim has been touring for almost 30 years so he's taking a well deserved retirement.
Tell me Hawkeye...do you think Jonathan still has the upper range he used to? Im definately not saying hes lost it or anything but it sounds like here that on some of the songs that he cant get up and going in the higher notes like he can on some of the old videos. things can sound alot different from tape than the live performance so thats why im asking someone that was there live.
Well, I was recording on a digital camera...the sound never sounds as great on it as it does in person. On some of Steve's higher notes, it sounds like he's a little flat, when in person the note is very full and right on target. I don't really know about Jonathan...it may be the camera, because he is old enough his voice should be done maturing! I'd say it's the camera, and the sound system, because they were having some issues with it because of the outdoor setting.
Was Jay a little flat at the second end?

No, not in the live setting. That sound is due to my camera, and the fact that they were having some problems with the sound system that evening.

Had these guys already went their ways when this line-up was put together in this reunion?
archiefan997 3 years ago
Yes. Jay, of course, has been off the road since 2004, along with Tim. Mark left in 2003 or '02, and Jonathan had left early 2008.

Tim is better than ever. He's just playing with those low notes.

Mark also wanted to get more into the ministry side of gospel music. He is holding a lot of revivals as well.

great to see that Tim and Jay still has it! A super G ending spaced 4 octaves apart!

Once I get the video of Under Control up, you'll like it...Tim hits an F# below that G. That alone made the reunion a special night!
