  • That's 98.7%, where is the other 1.3% ?

  • LMAO

  • LOOOOOL

  • Anyone know what song this is?

  • @deathstarcafe "Oh Centra" by Javelin

  • @BossLightweight Merçi

  • read 'economics in one lesson' by henry hazlitt.

    check the amazon reviews.

  • Gotta love half of the money goes to two of the most pointless expenses

  • Even though this is dated, it's always shocking to see in a visual format just how much the government spends on the wrong things!

  • MILITARY IS 10x AS IMPORTANT AS EDUCATION!!!!! WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!

  • taxes are good

the way they are spent is not

  • 10% other aka prostitutes

  • Let's do the monkey foot!

  • Originally, income tax was meant for national defense...nothing more. The rest is supposed to be provided by the states.

  • @mityquinnmontoya80 lol. This man dropped a knowledge bomb and everyone ignored him

  • There's still 8% missing. :(

  • @DameiThiessen The missing 8% is for UFO cover-ups. GOOD magazine would get shutdown if they had mentioned it.

  • 100 percent of what is collected is absorbed solely by interest on the federal debt and by federal government contributions to transfer payments. In other words, all individual income tax revenues are gone before one nickel is spent on the services [that] taxpayers expect from their government. ~ google Grace Commission Report

  • in 2004, neither the Iraq nor the Afghanistan wars were included in the budget. That 30% should be more like 50%

  • Oh nice... 30% to military. Cuz America is always in danger from other countries, namely itself.

10% probably goes to the shadow government or something.

  • Now War is 54% congratulations Bush... Obama... McCain... Palin... Biden...???

  • 54%? No; it's actually closer to about 20%. The Federal budget is over $3Trillion; the military budget it only about $600Billion

  • Yeah it was a statistic from an earlier year.

  • That's only because the budget was increased by getting more international credit (and increasing debt even more)

US federal budget used to be 1.1 trillion when Clinton was in power, it was increased to

3.1 by Bush and 4.1 by Obama

Besides, it doesn't factor in things like "nation building" money sent to Iraq, Afghanistan, Albania etc and payoffs so countries like Israel stay friends

If you ask me anything that helps the military should be included in the military budget

  • The other $3.4Trillion the government spends are the problem now though. Although military spending is very high it doesn't actually take up much of the USA's GDP.

  • If only that was true....

  • Military spending only makes up 4% of America's GDP. It isn't the biggest problem for America at the moment.

  • No, the huge debt taken out when increasing the national budget is the biggest problem for America

  • Actually 20%...some people don't include S.S. due to a misconception on how the money flows. (it's not put into a savings account ;P)

  • Hi, does anyone know where I can get the citation for this?

  • wait a minute... veterans get as much as the education system? wtf

  • states pay for education. Fed pay for military dudes to go to school

  • Enjoy your new Democrat sponsored income "surtax" to pay for Obama's escalation of the three wars...

War destroys wealth. War destroys the wealth of the taxpayers, current and future, who pay for it, and it also destroys the wealth of those who are attacked.

  • War does not destroy wealth: The Great Depression was finally ended because of World War 2. Without the total war effort that jump started industries and led to a massive new female workforce, with job skills the economy would still have been in a depression.

  • @gtbiscool You can continue to believe that myth, but it has been well debunked long ago. I suggest "Regime Uncertainty: Why the Great Depression Lasted So Long and Why Prosperity Resumed After the War" and also "Depression, War and Cold War: Challenging the Myths of Conflict and Prosperity" by Robert Higgs. The key is understanding how the numbers were made to 'look good', hence the myth they created.

"War prosperity is like the prosperity that an earthquake or plague brings." -Mises

  • Okay so one person, Robert Higgs, said that. You list no other economist who thinks that way. While there are others who like Robert Higgs are member of the Austrian School of Economics, many others are not adherents to that economy theory. Keynesian, Monetaristic, New Classical, and other schools of economic thought differ on their interpretation. The Austrian school is on the fringes of mainstream economics.

  • lol..

  • well ... dosn't it ? :D

  • The video said it was a over simplification. Come on! Go easy on it.

  • Housing means programs FHA, Freddie Mac (pre-crash anyway), subsidies for the construction industry, portions of Federal welfare that go to rent subsidies, etc.

Nutrition means FDA, Dept of Agg and Dept of Education programs involved in research and nutrition, plus welfare cheese, farm subsidies and research.

The big take home should be, however, how much interest on borrowed money and military/defense (which is non-productive - it earns nothing without use) swamps out all of these.

  • I am an accountant and I often see numbers I do not believe are accurate. I do not believe the numbers that were presented in the video. I am calling your bluff.

  • 3,6 education and 30 on military....

    theres something REALLY wrong there.....

  • hahahaha

  • 30% on the military!

Is the US in that much danger of being conquered?

  • yes, you people are hated by almost every country on the planet. they act nice infront of you but from insde we hate your politics, not you, your leaders

  • I don't think it's fair to hate an entire country, and actually there's a lot of things I like about America (some great TV shows, films and music for example). I'm a Brit, so I guess there's a certain amount of hatred for things our country did in the past too.

However, I and many other Europeans feel that your right wing party is one of the most stupid and corrupt in the developed world, and the way that religion is used to win election campaigns is shocking.

  • Sorry I've just realised you put " not you, your leaders" - sorry :)

  • god your really snooty

  • @pikmindoctor

Just the cost of keeping the American Hegemony running smoothly.

    Pimpin' ain't easy!

  • @pikmindoctor Is the US in that much danger of being corrupted?

  • @pikmindoctor No, we just have the totally erroneous belief we're Earth's babysitter.

  • @pikmindoctor Rome said the same thing.

  • @pikmindoctor fuck u. ask the 6 million

  • @pikmindoctor no it isn't... but people don't care... sadly

  • @pikmindoctor Because equipment costs millions. Most fight jets cost 1 to 2 million dollars. Some are 11 million. It's not going to getting man power, but to restock ammunition.

  • @sHeVa96owns 1-2 million sometimes 1 million? Dude the average fighter jet can cost 50 million to make then even more to maintain...

  • 30% in military, no, that is too high at 10%.

  • no dude

  • i prefer that from facebooksoldi,com

  • "10% go to Other" ...as in "Other BS?!!"

  • jeeze, all theses songs are super fresh!

  • Who does the song for this? that was sweet!

  • BITCH SONG

  • 10% just for ____?!?!

  • Well for Bill, hookers.

  • Oh! Centra :D

I love the song, and all GOOD! videos are, well, good :) :)

  • Rhode Island rulez!!!!

  • M<ad funny song hahahah listini to the lyrics and voices lmao ahahhaha

  • stupid song

  • I am too stoned, I thought it said,

    GOOD Magazine: Texas lol

  • woooord hahhaha

  • Why does the politicians need 10% of my taxes? WTF

How bout 10% for education and 3.2% for those faggits

  • how bout negative 3.2% for them. they aleready get paid 100k year for the rest of thier lifes, just for being high in the gvernment

  • lol, 'other' doesnt necessarily mean on politicians

building parks, recreation and stuff like that

u guys should be more shocked about the amount u spend on ur military

  • lol other means it goes to other things not to them they have a seperate pay check

  • ok man.. freaken U.S wastes the most money in education in the word and is 19th in best education compared to countries that are above in education and spend way less

mayb spend that money on sumthing else...

  • maybe we could build more missles eh ??

  • Did you not notice that spending on education was one tenth of spending on defense? Do we really need any more nukes? Any more troops? More guns? More tanks? We need a smart generation that won't repeat the mistakes of the past...

And wtf is up with the extra 10%??

  • we obviously don't spend enough because there's people like you out there thinking that we spend too much on education...

  • Ok Buddy dont blame the money.

Go to skool and ask urself, how many kids actually get passin grades, i no i see shit loads of kids that dont give a hell about their education

These days the average student cant keep up to education standerds

  • yes, because cutting funds would somehow get students to start caring more about their education? ridiculous.

  • Its not lik most of them care now, mayb it'll actually make them think if they saw how much was areadly gona be payed for them

  • The only way you can get American children to think about education as more than some boring daily routine is to get them to think about their future. And that doesn't happen until they mature (most Jr. High and High Schoolers don't really think much about higher education until Junior Year). Americans children are stupid: most of them favor instant gratification and thus would rather blow off school and have fun now and not worry about the fact that they will be flipping burgers soon.

  • I think if it as a boring routine but I'm getting straight A's... Not to brag or anything...

  • Not to demean you Cellwelder in any way shape or form, but straight A's ain't what it used to be. The curriculum is awful and standards are lowered and focused on low achievers rather than engaging higher thinkers.

  • Nah it's okay. There are tonnes of kids in my school that're getting D's and F's on their reports and some say their parents aren't doing squat about it.

  • grades don't mean shit!...you missed the point...some of the kids with D's and F's are probably more intelligent than you but are disheartened by how much of a joke it is...it's based on points...it's a competition...it doesn't matter what you know, only what you score...if you know the unbiased and honest version of the truth you will more than likely fail your history classes and not be able to have an honest discussion with most of your teachers or classmates about anything

  • Not to get into a pointless Internet arguement or anything, but most of my teachers say that grades determine the classes you take, your carrer, all that junk.

But hey, I think school is as boring as it gets. I usually fall asleep in History Class for a good 5 - 15 min.

  • I ran into an Old Biology teacher from High school.. this guy was a real bright cat leme tell yah.. he took me out of his Bio class because he felt it was to advanced for me.. I'm a Biological Science Technician working with a variety of Endangered species of Salmon, and Lamprey now.. Not to long ago I ran into him at a homecoming game and struck up conversation. he asked what I did now. I told him. I could see he remembered all to well what he said to me and that look in his eyes was Priceless.

  • I think you're correct.. My kid brother in the 8th grade was a failing student in the regular Jr. High.. and was offered to go to an "Alternative" school.. there they did a test to find out where he placed in the "basics" well he scored well into the College levels in Reading and Math.. Come to find out he was utterly bored and gave up caring about school because he wasn't being challenged enough. now he's finishing up a 4year degree with something to do in Compters..

  • haha so what you want little middle schoolers to think about what college they are going to? get real and you know what maybe it wouldnt be so boring if it was a challenge =P make kids care enough challenge us

  • What "others" exactly mean?

  • Anybody know what song this is?

  • I dont know but it sounds pretty gay...

  • better then your gay techno...

  • its trance, and this song is real gay. i had to hear again it today to remind myself how gay it is. And you must be 8 years old or something cuz its sounds like a cartoon. Sorry i should have been more mature not to debate a child.

  • You have 8 year old grammer, so you should like this stuff, bitch.

  • It's grammar, not grammer. Hypocrite...

  • Sounds like a cartoon?

Don't try to expand your horizons or anything, ace.

Also, now you've had to listen to it 3 times.

  • The Song is Called, "Oh! Centra" By Javelin. It's in the credits.

  • Don't worry summersretreat. I like the song too.

  • Oh ok thanks alot!

  • Says at the end of the video, doesn't it?

  • 30% on military and defense, and nearly 20% on paying back debts! JESUS.

  • What song is this? It's kickass! lol

  • I'm a little upset we spend that much on defense. Pathetic.

  • This is not entirely true. Most of the income taxes you pay through your paycheck go directly to paying the interest owed to the Federal Reserve for money the Federal Reserve lends the U.S. gevernment. The goods and services metioned in the above are raised through other forms of taxation.

  • the US has too many enemies. I'd want nothing less than 30% on defense.

  • maybe it has too many enemies because you've spent so much money on "defense" in the first place?

  • i dont think so, whenever a civilization in the passed had good resources or land or was neighboring a stronger civilization, it was usually conquered by the stronger civilization, the U.S. spends so much money on defense because we rly rly dont want to lose people so we spend alot of money on expensive equipment like UAV's and 2 billion dollar B-2's to minimize our loss of life in a war. It used to be that you could send millions of men with nothing but boots and guns into war but not any more

  • It doesn't really work that way.

The monetary value that the army puts on a soldier's life isn't huge.

The easyest way to minimise loss of life is to avoid war... the US on the other hand has been leading a campaign of agression.

The US spends so much money on defense because the military industrial complex is inextricably tied to the political class and gets handouts.

I don't care how self-righteous we can be, NO country should have this kind of military power.

  • And the reason you have many of those enemies is because of what you go and do with that 30%

  • i like how people think George bush just loves the fuck out of money.. yes thats why he went in to office money.. watch the southpark episode on 9/11 it puts all those idiots to shame

  • Uh, yeah dude. Ever hear of the military industrial complex? Figure out how the Bush's might be tied to that and why they'd want endless war.

  • fucking 30% on military and defence... what a waste

  • ahahahahaha brilliant!

  • Politicians are fucking nuts. I live in Jersey and some lump of shit thought taxing water was a good idea. WATER!!! Hear me mother fucking water!!! It's as essential as air. Luckily that never passed otherwise I'd go all American Revolution on their asses and start throwing water into the Delaware River. :p

  • A valid point, but does your NJ water convieniently arrive to your house via a faucet (which, in turn, is connected to a municipal water main and a reservoir constructed with state or federal funds) or do you bring it home on foot by the bucket? If it is the latter, you really do have a credible reason to complain...

  • xD the reason this is happening is because we used too much to get power and fame... now we owe so much for all that... at least America wont be destroyed from other countrys... We are going into the biggest suicide EVER!

  • I think we screwed up when one of our presidents IGNORED George Washington's quotes: STAY AWAY (or out of) foreign affairs....look where we are at now... -_-

  • true that .. we should ween off foreign affairs .. slowly but surly

  • I read it Mark and I still disagree with your bottom line. The Fairtax has always been revenue neutral. Your company may opt to keep some or all of your witholdings that we're set aside for taxes on our paychecks, but what you get on your check will be 100% and not a penny more. Everyone's embedded taxes will go away, thus driving down costs and creating a battle over who can make a better deal to the consumer worldwide. Like Boortz and Linder said it's going to make the whole boat rise(America)

  • The only ones who has to pay high taxes are the people who don't have high paid lobbyist writing the loopholes for them.

That would be the workers, self employed, small businessman. Thank God Im not one of them. These folks pay up to 300% higher taxes on the same income as those who make cap gains dividends, etc, pays.

Obama seems to understand this, thats why I like him. Not that he could do much about it.

  • the veteran at :43 lol.

  • Education should be higher.

  • why?

  • Someone could help me??

Which program I have to use to make a video like this???

  • MS paint

  • flash

  • This idea of tax the rich is exactly why we don't pay any taxes.

You guys at the bottom get taxed because you really just don't care.

  • The Income taxes and payroll taxes stink to high hell, look at our month to month pay stubs. I wan't 100% of my checks plus a prebate check every month. No more home taxes or taxes on anything used or pre-owned. Fairtax dot org.

  • bs - Fairtax Boortz has now admitted that you don't keep 100% of your paycheck -- surprise. Your employer decides if you get that money you used to pay in taxes -- or he does. Boortz wrote about it, and admitted your employer can just pay you what your take home pay was -- and keep the rest.

I was stunned. If you are curious, email me and I will send you the link. Every fairtax fan should know this, cause its not what they said earlier.

  • Yes please do leave a link back on the "post a text comment." I'm certain that you've made a mistake in your understanding of what NB was pointing out. It's not your employer's money to have. Furthmore your job would pay you whatever you've been hired for. Compines are not going to lower our paychecks for the amount that was being taken out by the IRS and pocket it. Like NB always sais I need proof and I'm sure that your WAY off center.

  • I suggest you move to Somalia or some other third world Hobbesian state-of-nature hellhole that has none of those pesky taxes that pay for the roads you drive on, the cops on your street, the protections for the food and medicines you consume or the education for yor children.

  • I'm not opposed to taxes. Federal or State. I would like the FAIRTAX, do you know what that is or how it would work? I really don't know how you could possibly come to the comclusion that your suggesting. Perhaps you meant for this comment to be directed towards MarkDouglasC.

  • haha funy song

  • WOah!!!

    Thats terrible =S

    Fab Vid tho =D

  • Who is this tune by , oh and bad tax division around 3% on education 30 % on defense / war and 18 % interest on foreign debt most likely generated by what again so 48% on war approx3 % on education ,seem like someone trying to keep its citizens stupid so they do not have to justify and explain their real reasons forall the bloody wars

  • In Brazil "OTHER" is 60% LOOOL

  • Crazy Ron Paulers

  • The bottom four-fifths, 80% - the bottom 80% of income earners pay just 20%, 22% of the federal income tax burden. The bottom 80% pay only 20% of the burden. Now, how in the world can anybody with a brain come forth and say, "I am against tax cuts for the rich. I'm only going to have a tax cut for the middle class." If you give a tax cut to people in the bottom 20%, you're not going to stimulate anything. They're not paying any taxes anyway. But we're making progress. So you can see it.

  • Also when you raise taxes on the rich your ultimately taxing the poor. You think business owners are just going to eat it? Nope.. The buck can and will always be passed down. Don't support higher taxes on the rich or you get taxed more and the gov. collects less rev.

  • Are you saying that every rich person is a buisness owner?

You do realize that most businesses owner arn't a Starbucks-chain of sucess; we're talking about the obscenely rich found in areas such as CEO positions or overpayed athletes and actors.

These people are already making more then enough to survive, and they get taxed the least thanks to the amount of power, aka 'money', that they can use.

You wouldn't happen to be one of those, would you?

  • they get taxed the least as in over 50% of what they make compared to anyone making under 110k under 40% and that drops. Of course, business owners can write off a lot of expenses. And if you are a business owner you are likely to stimulate the economy in a positive way - that means your dollar that you use to spend or save increases. Now how did USA have such a great economy and dollar so high? Strong entrepreneur support from the gov't? If your IQ can't get you somewhere it's not 'our' fault.

  • Nice Vid

  • most of them store them in their coffers...i dont know who had published these details...but must be one of those govern's pets!!!!!

  • RON PAUL 08!!!

  • Paul has been named "The Taxpayer's Best Friend" by the National Taxpayers Union every year he has been in Congress, indicating a fiscal conservative voting record on spending of taxpayer dollars.

  • Cut the federal budget by 25% pay no income tax!!!! Do the math!!!!

  • OR abolish the IRA, because the INCOME TAX IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL! THE INCOME TAX GOES INTO POCKETS OF INTL. BANKERS, NOT OUR GOVERNMENT!!!

    RON PAUL 08!!!

  • Abolish the Irish Republican Army??

  • lol

  • Income tax is unconstitutional, eh?

To quote the 16th Amendment to the United States Constitution, ratified in 1913, "The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration."

  • Read the 16th amendment again. Then read any number of other amendments. Tell me what you notice is different between them all and you will realize why its not legal.

  • Well... I realli wish i didnt have 2 pay taxes now i know where most of them go!

  • the name of the song is AT THE END OF THE FUCKING VIDEO. ahh, America...land of the short attention span syndrome.

  • land of negative pricks...

  • Shut you fucking mouth

  • ok its shut dam!

  • ya, taxes go the the war, but the war is run by corporations, so we're not making any money as a country, our richest .05% are getting richer while the rest of us suffer the consequence of the dollar plummeting...if you believe that military spending is going to get us out of debt you're insane, and pretty sad.

  • song?

  • the band is javelin from providence...

    myspace/hotjamzofjavelin

  • nvm =P

  • lol xD what's the name of the song in this vid??

  • it's at the end of the video.. ...

  • no matter if it's true or not gov't and taxes need reform. that's the point.

now besides that, the gov't is pretty much as good as wikipedia, and gets away with your money all the time.

  • ha, ha. consult wikipedia. the website where you can change info or make stuff up without having to prove your credentials. is there any other reason college professors do not accept it as a valid source?

maybe the video is a little off...but if you check your tax booklets even the little graph in the back says that about a 1/4 of "outlays" go to national defense, veterans and foreign affairs.

  • Then use the normal source for this information, the CIA fact book. The numbers used in this film are completely wrong.

  • This video idea had so much potential, but it could have been a lot better IMO. The thing that saved their reputation for me was that at least they admitted to it being an over simplification.

  • if the republicans hadnt fucked up the balanced budget in only 7 years we could be using that debt interest for something worthwhile

  • Actually, since lowering taxes, the US government is taking in more cash (tax revenue) than it has ever in history. In fact, Bush has already cut the deficit by way more than half and we are heading to another balanced budget. Thats with increased military spending. Remember that Clinton balanced the budget by drastically cutting the military (which was a disaster in it of itself).
