i'm seriously considering the mexi made daphne blue 50's classic reissue 544 euros here in spain ($707 USD) and swapping the pickups to the area 58 but my question is how does it hold in tune with the tremolo? otherwise, i'll go for the sam totman sapphire with evolution pickups already installed and a zero III tremolo... thanks for your post... superb sound on your strat...
@boboplex I'm my opinion these are the best sounding hum canceling pickups out there. That said, the hum is only about 90% gone depending on where you have your amp plugged in. But it is a significant difference than with regular pickups. I how that answers your question. And thanks for the props!
How well does the hum cancelling work on these pickups? 60 cycle hum drives me up a wall so very important that they are quiet. Have the Fender SCN's and they work well but think these may sound better. Nice Demo BTW.
@boboplex I had 58/58/61 on my old strat and DUDE! they are quieter than my rg with humbuckers. Really nice sounding pickups. The tone is very stratty but think more a modern twangy strat.
very cool demonstration of the Dimarzios. I just ordered mine today ;-). I will go for the configuration with the 58 / neck ; 67 middle and 61 bridge.
Could you please tell me what riff/lick/pattern it is you play in the begining (until minute 01:40)? Is it from a song, or is it by you?
Thanks for this demo man! I wanted the exact same pups but i'm having a dilema over which one to put in the Middle and neck between the 67 and 58......I wanted a nice smooth neck tone and also a sparkling Hendrix tone at position2....still deciding...
I decided this way because the '61 has a high output so i like it in the bridge, but once i learn more about soldering I will move them around just to see. Thanks!
@SoLKaNar23 whatever you want to do man. If you want to know what a 58 sounds like in the neck, check out Lincoln Brewster. He uses them in neck and middle, and a 61 in bridge. Awesome player as well.
I have an American Std Strat, and i want to swap the original pickups for a great hum cancelling strat pickup... so far i heard this is the best choise for many ppl. How do you feel them ? are they good for playing hendrix, srv, clapton, etc ?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
how do you play with the guitar on your far leg thats way to uncomfortable and weird who taught you to play or did you your self ouch you look like your going to tear a groin
for an alder guitar those are pretty bad pickups way to bright missing tone sounds okay on clean with an excessive reverb but i am sure it suffers on the dirty sounds and rock. thats not a great sound to me.
I don't think that the effects I use effect the tone. The delay is doing exactly that, delaying the guitar sound that you hear. and I use the overdrive to show how they react to pedals like that. Agree to disagree I suppose.
Thank you. I thought the same thing. Maybe an EQ and a dirt pedal to show how they handle OD. All that delay and whatever else he's got going on make it hard to judge the actual tonality of the pickups themselves.
Wow! Most all the videos with these pickups have GREAT TONE! Your sound great! I just got a made in Mexico strat and I am now gonna get these pickups! Thanks for uploading!
I love these pickups because they will make almost any strat sound great. Plus 0% hum! Very clear sound. I have the same loaded pickguard, awesome by for about $250-300. Cool setup you have and playing.
just got them .....love em..........thanx

@ebntin No...it's John Mayer's "Slow Dancing In A Burning Room".

If it was my guitar, I would seriously think about putting the 67 in the middle and the 58 in the neck.
Thanks for the good review!

@somogendogen i actually think i prefer 67 neck/58 middle. why do you think you'd swap them?
Schpudd 1 year ago
@somogendogen I was thinking the sam thing but the 67 is a fatter sound and the 58 is more twangy so it could go either way i guess..

and i have those same posters. Awesome. Unfortunately, i'm missing the rest. Nice amp, guitar, playing. Great sounds.

how much did you buy them for? i have the option to buy a loaded dimarzio pickguard with 58 61 67 in them for under $150
SoLKaNar23 2 years ago
@SoLKaNar23 where did you find a deal like that?
rokr432 2 years ago
craigslist awesome deal. got it for $130 pretty much new. the plastic was still on it and everything was white and new.
should i switch the 67 and 58? since i like the woody tone in the neck position more than the sparkly cleans?
it was a great deal

glass of water on the amp... I am too accident prone to even think of doing that. Nice demo man.

Trash that delay pedal man.Not a Stevie thing. Not a John Mayer thing. Sounds kind of bad.
Also try to ease up on your picking. It comes off real tense and aggressive. Try relaxing your hand and arm.
I dig your style though.
johnm14 2 years ago
Great playing brother. Way'ta make a mexi strat sound better than most American strats hanging at the top wall of Guitar Center. :)
But I do agree with some others. Do a demo without the delay (and any other effects that are on). Less coloration.

Will do! I can make another video and i'll put it up here.
