@Soldier957 Yes, the films are everywhere online but most people don't spend a lot of time on the Internet. People who do spend a lot of time online usually only encounter other people who spend a lot of time online and thats just a fraction of the population. We estimate that as many as 70% of the people we approach on the street never heard of Zeitgeist. There are A LOT of people in the world that've never been exposed to this information and never will if we don't reach out to them in person.
Nice job Dannette! I'm part of the santa barbara ZM. One way to speed the process up is if we start forming communities around the world now and live with like minded people. Seeing is believing. I'm in the process of joining this one here on the west coast and I hope to see u there too - onecommunityranch. Send me a msg if you ever want to meet up and discuss!
@phatening You're part of the SB chapter? I'm not sure I've ever met you. We're very connected with the SB group. We collaborate with them all the time. We go to LA events together, we team up and do screenings together, we even go on hikes and have social gatherings together.
@justintempler and that also goes for any other system with money as a main incentive and driving force, communism is the same in that respect. I think we should figure out a system that has the experience of life, development of consciousness and personal growth as a main incentive. In the end that is the only thing that matters to us, wether we seek it in the 'accumulation of wealth' that the illusion of matter can drive us to do, or something else...
@justintempler I believe I understand what a laissez faire economy is about, but I don't see how it will prevent companies from doing wrong if as long as it means they will make more money. Killing the planet and decieving consumers does not automatically mean a company will fail, or that people won't try it anyway. Unless we, as consumers, communicate freely and openly and activily keep everything in check. But with a capitalistic system it will always remain somewhat of a struggle...
@justintempler "We have far too many consumers and not enough producers." What do you mean? We don't produce enough? Or do we lack diversity in producers? Because I do believe we produce plenty, if you take a look at what ends up in landfills and how much food we trow away, even before it has a chance to reach the consumer. The problem is that we overproduce, and at the same time produce a lot of stuff that is only ment to last a limited time to keep the market going.
@justintempler The economic crisis, but mainly technology I think. The way information can travel nowadays is a world apart from only a few decades ago. Although media company's are nowadays in the hands of only a few, we now have the internet. And, unless we allow them to gain control over it, it will definately change the way we think and interact as a global community on the long run.
@justintempler I just wonder how long a laissez faire capitalism would function like that. The main incentive still being money and not personal growth. From my perspective, both the Venus Project and a laissez faire capitalist system would require a big change in the way the majority perceives reality, what is to gain from it, what the rules of the game should be and what developments to be aware of to be succesfull... but if that change could ever happen, it would be now.
@jpoortman "require a big change in the way the majority perceives reality"
The economic crisis is doing just that.
Laissez-faire means foregoing consumption to accumulate wealth that is needed to grow your business and then risk losing it all in failure. If they make tons of money so what? Money not reinvested by the producer, is then available for loans for other producers. PRODUCTION of wealth is what makes consumption possible. We have far too many consumers and not enough producers.
I thought that this was a great video because we are spreading the message of TZM/TVP to people who most likely have more of a knowledge base to "get it."
Funny how people always want to compare new ideas to systems they are already familiar with and have decided to be evil even though they are based on different incentives and new technologies that weren´t even imaginable before. But laissez faire capitalism seems to be the ´holy grail´ to them for some reason, even though capitalism through the incentive for greed and manipulation doesn´t want to be like that at all, by default. Then they complain about systems that will ´never work´...
@jpoortman Too bad that people confuse laissez faire capitalism with crony capitalism where the government plays favorites through regulation and creates moral hazard by not allowing bad businesses to fail with government backed loans, government backed mortgages, bailouts, and government insurance.
@justintempler Too bad people can't see that the two models you present basically amount up to the same thing. A competition, an economic survival of the fittest where there are bound to be losers and a select few who are going to be dominant. Both groups will be tempted not to play by 'the rules,' the losers will try to acquire the resources and wealth while the winners will try to protect it. Economic beliefs are not that different from religious one, so it seems.
@TerraRubicon That is a cute sleight of mind Ed, as soon as people start to dominate and not play by the "rules" it's not laissez faire capitalism anymore.
Good luck on figuring out a way to build your alternative to capitalism without using capital. As soon as you accumulate enough assets to build anything in the modern world you become a capitalist. Even Russia and China have learned that lesson but I suppose you prefer the Cuban model?
@justintempler Crony capitalism is an inevitable result of the laissez faire approach. It will evolve to that naturally. But by all means Justin, sing "kumbayah" with your Mises brothers.
This is so impressive. I love it. The only thing I would comment on is that the standard of living would not really be the same or even similar to what it is now; it would be MUCH better. (I only say that bc people have a tendency to picture the "crap" we have now, only... it's FREE! and that's why the RBE doesn't make sense to them, hence Communism, and other strawmen.) I think the standard of living made possible by the RBE is VERY important bc it's a natural biproduct of the efficiency.
@rebelq1 Eco friendly robot factories building 30 story windmills with absolutely no damage to the environment. All those raw materials will just magically be transported to the factories and then to the job site by Star Trek technology and all this stuff will be built without the use of any money. It will all be free don't you know. :-p
While I absolutely hate Star Trek because there's barely any real science in it whatsoever, and it's more about "future political conflicts between humans and some aliens who happen to speak English too", it also demonises laissez faire capitalism by portraying in some episodes as Ferengi or rich class elites, and because the one who wrote it was a socialist, and the worst part is that instead of IMPROVING THEMSELVES, those future humans keep making technology to serve them,
I ca't believe some people haven't at least heard of it. It's everywhere online...

Nice. This is what we need. More people pitching the ideas when big names are around so they can build their businesses around the idea.

Great work with handing out copies of ZMF, and is that Ed Begley Jr at the end?
Again you also see that knee-jerk reaction; "communism." Such a cultural trademark and people basically say it with no contemplation whatsoever.
