Yes, if you have used personal branding for each one and you don't mind each customer group knowing each other, claim both businesses and only mail to individual circles.
Thank you so much Russell; I totally understand what you are saying; the tough thing is that I'm the entity on each business, I've branded "me" as the face so both accounts would really need to be me - I think I can work that out. The solution might be the fact that I have a Gmail for business account (Google Apps) and in that I have my main G+ account; I also have a free Gmail address so I'm thinking I could use that for my "other" G+ account - I almost think that would be acceptable to Google.
