  • Yeah, that's a nice "hard" piece of wood. Lets so you do that to another sword or a suit of armor.

  • a very sad demonstration, anything for a sale right

  • they sell sawsalls at wallmart $69.54 heres the link walmart.com/ip/Black-and-Decker-Reciprocating-Saw/14971633 .save your money

  • sooo what now...

  • people are really dumb these days. swords arent made to cut wood, woods too tough. so the fact that the blade is un damaged is the point of this video. not to see if it can cut through wood, swords are made to cut human bodies. this particular sword would be very good at that. You dont need super form to show a sword is tough.

  • Metal cut wood? Impossible.

  • @Bloodthr0e ???

  • @Bloodthr0e What are axes used for then?

  • why do they show in movies were the katana cuts of a leg easy but this sword cant even cot through that wood the bone would stop it can you test thsi out on a real human being

  • @TrampOllen Actually most katanas, including this one, can EASILY sever a leg. Wood causes more drag than flesh and bone. Many swords that can cut 4 people in HALF at once can barely cut 5/8 the way through a 2x4.

  • Paul keep up the good work. retards dont understand that these are tests to show

    how tough swords are.

  • I Feel like the blade would have gone in deeper if the wood hadn't moved...

on a side note... I'm looking on the website, and the store shows two of them, as does the first picture in the review. So do you get two Oniyuri when you buy?

  • that blade is crap not sharp enough

  • let me correct myself. Basic training for the Marines only lasts THREE MONTHS!!.. which even further supports my claim that Marines don't come out of basic training hand to hand combat experts. (unless of course they were experts to begin with, or continue their training BEYOND basic training)

  • destructice would be trying to cut a steel chair in half

  • One thing about guns and swords/knives, guns run out of bullets, blades don't have that problem. Not knocking guns mind you, (I have several) but if you can't put lead on target, and you're out of ammo, you're out of luck, and just have a fancy club. Also, very difficult to silently dispatch a target with a gun. Give a Marine a KaBar, much less a sword or rifle, and you have a damned near unstoppable soldier.

  • ok i am going to say this to who ever watch this video a sword can beat a gun and a gun can beat a sword? right no that is studied, the winner is who ever the beast mind it is not the weapon it is the MINE who ever is the smartest wins

so this is what i am saying its the human mind not gun or sword the mind

  • maybe if you had a sword and a vegetable had a gun but otherwise the gun wins

  • Comment removed

  • matters not the weapon, but the hand that wields it.

  • the samurai were excellent with swords yet they were defeated by japanese with guns. because these japanese had never used guns before, they were very unskilled with them yet they still managed to defeat the samurai who were very skilled with swords. guns win.

  • FYI, "the last samurai" isn't a documentary, many samurai used guns and there was never some rebellion.

  • what the fuck are you talking about. when did i say there was some rebellion. read my comment before you respond so you don't look like a fool. i never mention the last samurai or rebellion. dumbshit

  • actually Last Samurai is based on true facts the only thing changed is the name of the main samurai leader, tom cruise character was french and not as brave or anything and the last battle did take place on that field, but yes many did use the muskets, even since the Oda Nobunaga introduced it in major battles.

  • @Shiratsui

Before you embarrass yourself let me tell you this.

    1. There was no samurai rebellion aimed at slowing the modernisation of Japan.

    2. The French samurai (Eugene Collache) never fought against the shogun

If you took the last samurai seriously as a historical documentary then you're an idiot. Why would they change the name of the samurai leader? To protect his identity? Please, about 90% of "The Last Samurai" is fabrication, no matter how much YOU want it to be true it won't change.

  • 1. they changed the name from Saigo Takamori to Katsumoto because it sounds better in the west.

2.the battle of Shiroyama did take place with use of ranged weapons on both sides.

3.I SAID IT IS BASED ON True Facts not the true event.

So if you don't understand the difference between based on true facts and Depiction of historic events then you are an idiot. The Tom Cruise is based on Collache as in "the director-read about him and considered as a good idea."

    4.Movie is nothing special.

  • look look a sword is a sword a gun is gun. anime no anime, a gun is mostly better, and a melee weapon can still be in use lol. OkamiNinja's got the good balance lol, stab someone silently then get noticed n pop everyone with a silencer lol

  • I wonder how the anime fanatics will react to this.

  • Half still hold hope that the katana can cut through concrete and tank barrels. LOL

Though I do like anime, I know a hell of a lot more about swords than anime.

  • you need a real samurai to cut this.. kenshin cut a concrete wall jejjeje

  • really,? which chapter? he DID however cut through an iron streetlamp aty the base

  • yeah! but did u ever fucked a girl while holding a sword in ur right hand, dressed up like a samurai and screaming: "watashi wa kame daisuki desu"? that's the best part with swords... I love them

  • Is it me or are there a lot of monkeys in the world playing with there 'precious cutting metal', they can't even handle. I think they're a disgrace.

  • no, i'm there with you.

(i go left, you go right)

  • you do understand his name is sword buyers guide. thats like yelling at r&d guys from mercedes benz for test crashing their cars.

  • did he fart from straining ? i get gas cutting firewood

  • You guys use katanas asfi they were axes...

  • I'm not aware of a 'gentile' way to do destructive tests... ;-)

  • cutting with a katana takes no strenght actually.

Watch some tameshigiri batoujutsu videos and you'll see.

That's why using a katana takes training, it doesn't cut by pressure like a western sword. It could have cut through if you knew what you were doing.

  • Not necessarily, If you just could use some finesse...I think the samurai overdo it. Yeah, training helps, but it doesn't take whatever...12 years?

  • @SwordBuyersGuide he means you hack like you would with an axe or a non-katana. and you arent getting the most out of the katanas curved blade,

  • @SwordBuyersGuide

i think this is not a matter to criticise your tests but how you do they. I guess.

But i`m curious : What kind of knowledge do u have of Iai ?

In some vids of u it looks like u do have some knowledge but in others it looks very dangerous because of wrong teqnique, stance etc...but youtube vids aren`t that good for analysing such things quite good.

  • @SwordBuyersGuide thats how your supposed to use em i think u dint train for long if u did it woulda cut through, katanas are amazingly powerfull, and supposed to be swung not to fast or slow

  • @omardude2 Exactly how powerful can they be at best? Please tell me, as I don't know.

  • @DiabolusIgnis cutting through steel pipe or sheet (takes a very long time to train to be able to do that , or cutting through bamboo (very clean cut) theyre amazing!

  • @omardude2 Yeah, try cutting through steel more than 0,8mm wide. You won't do that, even though you've trained. As for bamboo, that's just technique.

  • @DiabolusIgnis but people have done it b4 a small steel pipe not big

  • @omardude2 Probably aluminium. They're just trying to impress. But you don't cut steel with swords.

  • @DiabolusIgnis Right on both counts, a steel pipe with any significant thickness and hardness to it will not be cut by any sword. And bamboo, yes, that's "just" technique, but the same can be said for anything that requires skill. Flying a helicopter is "just technique" as well, but that doesn't mean it's something you can learn with just a day's practice. Nor is cutting bamboo.

  • @Gilmaris Hmm... Well, I did sound like I meant technique is something easy to learn. But what I meant was that cutting through a steel pipe actually useful is not possible, whereas for cutting bamboo you need the right technique. When you can hit properly, it's not hard. It's probably harder to fly a helicopter ^^

  • @SwordBuyersGuide was that supposed to be some fucked up pun or something?

  • @SukiyakixD i know its sad

  • i did that with my Kaze and it cut 3-4ths thru and split the wood down the middle no harm to the sword

  • wow i compared this to the sgc video and this sword wasnt even close compared to how far the sgc cut through

  • Oh yeah... The SGC is definitely the best cutter. One very scary sword indeed...

  • but due to the blade geometry it is not recomended for heavy cutting like the tenchi...right?

  • @SwordBuyersGuide Mate, what is the SCG sword you mention? where on your site is it?

  • @SwordBuyersGuide what wood was that pole made of? the pine wood is rather soft and when it's still "green" it's even softer

  • uhhh, be careful there, buddy.

  • i dunno he did better cutting than they did in mythbusters and you have to think about the fact that after seeing it go that deep un damaged then thats one hell of a blade im happy you did this test i been thinking of buying a Oniyuri thanks

  • dude try striking some hardwood and not that cheap shit but nice sword XD

  • it only looks cheap because the wood it light and smooth rather than rough looking

  • I think Ive seen your website before. But nice vid. I was kinda shock that the katana went in that deep since the wood was kind of thick.

  • well if done right it could actualy cut through the whole thing

  • Yea we all know real japanese katana can cut through tank right?

  • tanks, firearms, coward weaponry

  • You say that but they can still blow your ass up .

  • sure do, but most people that depend on them can't do anything withouth them.

Everyone is on the same level with a gun, it takes no skill, nor courage.

That's the difference between firearms and blade weapons. I bet I could beat any marine in a katana 1x1 lol

  • thats true.

Unless marines , but marines skill in knife combat too?

  • Then go to Iraq with a fucking katana. See how long it takes for you to die. You are NOT an ANIME. Get over it.

  • a true warrior trains in every possible situation. if i were going to fight in iraq with some army, i'd train with a gun, develop accuracy, etc. because that is damn near the only weapon that'll be effective in an open environment. but if it's close combat, a sword wouldn't be a bad thing to have. if you knew what you were doing that is. i see what you're saying though. people think they can be ryu hayabusa and fight off an entire army. we'll see who keeps their brains intact longer.

  • It seems that I wasn't really understood at all.

I never talked about swords x guns.

All I complain about is that any geek without a brain becomes a macho with an AR15 in hands.

Specially when they are the only one using one.

I wouldn't fight a gun with a sword, I'm not stupid, lol.But yeah, the world is all about beeing the most efficient in the slightest time, so raise the firepower and let the pawn fire at will, yipeee!!!

    =D

If you can't hit, use a nuke =D

    God bless america.

  • I'm talking about not using firearms, people need to get to read, and I'm not an anime, and don't really think I am, I just know how to use a katana more like a bunch of youtube geeks that use them like axes lol.

Firearms is for cowards, that it.

And actually, about iraq, I don't see them as terrorists, for me, feeding Israel with wepons to stomp Palestine is a way of terrorism, as much as the 2 atomic bombs. Guess who I'm talking about =D

  • How can a person be an anime? Anime is an animated manga series.

  • firearms are tools, people use tools for good things, swords are tools as well, both are designed for taking and defending life however the person manipulating the tool is the one responsible for the outcome of its use

  • Firearms are for cowards? Oh well. I guess anyone would have to find some justification for getting shot by someone after trying to use your l33t sw04rd ski11z in a real world confrontation. No thanks. I'd rather be a coward with my AK-47, than a dead man with a katana. And if I die with my AK in hand, at least I won't be remembered as that crazy ninja wannabe that brought a sword to a gunfight.

  • lol, like you even know how to fire a gun nerd

  • I definitely do. I own several, and I go shooting at least once a week, or as often as I can afford it.

I may be a nerd, but I'll be god damned if I don't know how to shoot.

  • WHOA WHOA WHOA. What about a ninja with an AK? Now thats tight.

  • Ninja are samurai hired out as spies and they have used muskets and cannons.

  • That's why I'd carry both swords and guns.

  • *sigh*

Sukiyaki, you are a useful idiot, period (I hope you're familiar with the expression and its origin, so you realize what it means).

  • i don't think that a marine vs. a swordsman in a sword duel would be fair. that's giving the swordsman a handicap wouldn't you say? give the marine what he's been training the most with, THEN duel him.

  • Dude, get over yourself. You so obviously don't know what the hell you're talking. "Everyone is on the same level with a gun", W... T... F... People go through years of training to get skilled with a firearm. If you stood 100 feet away from a U.S marine, both of you armed with an M16 with 30 rounds, you really you would have a chance at killing him? And I highly doubt you would defeat a marine in melee combat. Even WITH a katana. You're just an arrogant nerd who's watched too much anime.

  • trained person is ofcourse better then untrained one, but i wouldnt use marine as an example for extremly good fighter, any not retarded guy with katana vs marine would kill him.

  • What? A marine is a PERFECT example for a good fighter. You won't find anyone with more extensive and precise training. Marine training is extremely hard both mentally and physically, and pushes any person to the limit.

Educated in both marshal arts and gunmanship, marines are some of the most lethal people on the planet. The only way some Joe off the street could kill a marine is if he was tied to a bench, pumped with morphine and all sharp objects moved to atleast 20 feet from the area.

  • give me katana and i will kill unarmed marine, its a fact.

  • I think you've been playing too much call of duty. A marine is a marine. There are plenty men in the marines who don't know hand to hand combat very well. A rifle on the other hand.... But if you want to fantasize about a soldier taking someone w/ a sword down via melee combat, please use a better example. A Green Beret perhaps?

  • Wrong. ALL marines have extensive close combat training. I mean, durr... you do realize what a marine's job is, right? It isn't rare that a marine is required to engage in a hand to hand confrontation.

I don't play call of duty.

But yes, a Green Beret would be even MORE lethal, but it's a matter of context. Someone said he could kill a marine with a sword, I used a marine as an example.

Also, contrast. A marine VS any average person, who's going to win?

  • Once again, your ignorance precedes you. You obviously have no idea what your talking about. Just because a Marine was presented with a handful of hand to hand combat training while in boot camp all of a sudden makes him an expert? Get REAL!... Tell you what, go join the Marines and find out yourself. No point in debating with someone who has they're head in the clouds.

  • Firstly, I can't be perceded by ignorance "again", because I demonstrated no lack of knowledge, nor was I misinforming in the previous comment.

Secondly, you are wrong. Again. A marine isn't "presented with a handful of hand to hand combat training". Did you read my comment, or did you just see my reply and contemplate your next, inaccurate statement?

Yes, I would say marines are experts, perhaps not ELITE.

And for the record: yes... I might be joining the corps in the near future.

  • Your lack of realistic knowledge by overestimating marines abilities is ignorance in itself. So a demonstration you have completed. lol And yes while in basic training (which only lasts 6 months) a marine is only presented with a handful of hand to hand combat drills. They are not in there the entire 6 months learning to fight with just their hands. You clearly don't know what your talking about, so quit early before you continue to make more of a full of yourself.

  • dont diss the corps cause i pretty sure they could wipe the floor with you while blindfolded with a concussion

  • you dont know me...u dont know how i look like, nor what i do and what i know..so how can you say that?

  • i would say that a Marine would kick your ass:/

  • in a fair fight yes, but if i had sword he wouldnt stand a chance...

  • Then go to war assfag.

  • Well, it should be obvious - but I'm not a Bujinkan practitioner... ;-)

  • He doesn't even strike correctly...

  • lol still i wouldnt what to get hit by that
