I wonder, why use a grinder when one would think a chipper is more efficient and makes a nicer looking product.

Because you can not chip Contaminated material and a chipper can not produce the volume that a grinder can... and mulch makes alot better product than chips do as far as a landscaping product goes.

I'm not sure, but I would guess because a Tub Grinder can produce a lot more material in a much shorter period of time.
