hey btw 302's were only available in 68and early 69, 67 had it only as a test engineso only a few cars were available only to dealers for the show room but you could pick one up for almost double the price of a base model camaro, 302's were only available in the z28's and were only rated for 290hp and 290 ft lbs of torque

These cars only came with automatics, at least out here on the west coast cuz we have the tightest emissions laws in the country, but back east, sometimes cars like these or cars like the IROC Camaros with the L98 350 came with manual transmissions whereas out here in California, they only came with automatics & the 305 came with the manual.

Any G-Body Monte Carlo came with an automatic from the factory. Turbo 350 in the 83-84 SS, and the 2004R in the 85-88. The only motor you could get from the factory was the L69 305HO.

Boring unless you absolutely feel the need to go 120 mph, which I for one don't. The 305 HO is plenty motor and sounds real nice with a good set of mufflers and a hollowed out cat/completely removed cat. Unless you want to break the stock speedometer you can't go faster than 85 mph in my 85 SS and if you aren't on a completely straight line you wouldn't want to go faster than about 70-75 with these cars.

The "mid-new" (95-96) impalas came with the 350 LT1, but they had cast iron headers as opposed to Aluminum...but those engines ran forever.

the 383 in the monte easily took this one.

However, find someone with a Buick Electra 225 Limited, say 71-74...factory Buick 455 had a lot of punch to it.

Nice vid i have an 86 monte SS and 95 Caprice (KillerKaprice) and your monte must not be stock. Mine has a 406ci SB with 550hp and 496torque. the reason i say is its almost imposible for a stoch 305ci will beat an LT-1 Impala or caprice. So what do you have in that monte?

have yet to get to the track, but without the rear end upgrade it would certainly break under full load with the 373 gear thats in there now. I have had to put the project on hold for the fall but the engine is a keeper, a 373 chevy small block, 595 horse on the dyno, motor only. I have yet to check the rwh.
