ahhhaaah i have the RARE version in my itunes from my father ! .___. yup! And honestly i think the rare's much better. I think that version has Tarja idk, but the voice in the rare version is better- less harsh, it's more angelic and flowy i think. Idk anything at all about the band so im sorry! :(

@corpsebridenightmare Anette unfortunately had bad luck with one thing. Simply put she came after Tarja. Tarja has voice which shatters the clouds and shakes the mountains, hence she set the standard so high, that for most other singer it is very difficult if not impossible to reach. Oh and I'm certainly not saying, that Anette is worse.....just different

For those lokking for more info on Tarja and Nightwish, I'd suggest you look up "Tarja" on Facebook. You'll be surprised on what info you'll get and what the band has accomplished within the short time she was with them. Who else as a band has done a world tour? Not many, that's for sure.

I'd say it's mainly her voice. Here, she's using a lighter/more delicate voice with much less vibrato. In the Eurovision version, Tarja is using her full opera voice. The instrumentation is much more apparent in this version in many places. I think the guitars might be stronger in the Eurovision version while she's singing.

It may be my imagination, but I think this version also has a faster beat than the Eurovision one.

The curious thing is that both versions were recorded at the same period, and that's a great thing to see how she can choose to sound more or less heavy...

For exemple I love the heavier versions of Bless the Child and End of all Hope that she did in 2003 (the Century Child Tour) one year after recording Century Child! Also Dark Chest of Wonders and Ghost Love Score sound much more stronger at the End of an Era concert than in the Album!

Tarjas opera voice in the Eurovision version of Sleepwalker is beautiful. 2 weeks ago I discovered that she is one of the most famous sopran singers. I listen to her since 2000 - but I never did know. But I prefer her lighter voice together with her music

Sorry for bad English, I'm Italian :) This is faster, Tarja doesn't use a full opera voice and there is more use of guitars and drums. Then, I've noticed at 1.06 here there are whispers which don't appear in the not-heavy version.

Well Nightwish wasent the first to make the Symp. metal. Therion was the first, but I think that NW was the first to mix metal with soprano/opera/classical vocals

The song goes a bit differently later on too, with an instrumental that doesn't appear at all in the original...
