Use an LXDE light desktop environment running Xubuntu underneath it. That should boost performance.

Can you run MP3s from flash drive and read pdas with that at the same time?

Playing MP3 is no problem and you can connect to any device which has USB and is suppoerted by Linux (= more or less everthing).

The xvid clip ran pretty nicely though. I am considering getting one for when I go camping etc.
Great video, I just wish the YouTube clip wasn't of a stop-motion animation. It makes it very difficult to tell if it displays choppy or not running on Ubuntu.

It currently runns with about 10 fps with framebuffer X-server device driver and the linux flash pluggin from Adobe.
But you should get a better performance using the Amd X-server driver and an optimized version of Gnash (the free flash replacement) for the Geode-LX.
