He said it is being made in one way or the other whether it is medicare, medicaid or the private insurance industry--which is true, one of the 3 of them are deciding it, and IMO, yes, each patient should have a written will beforehand to take out any "what-ifs", and so nobody--gov't or private insurance--stays out of it.
What about the case of Barbara Wagner who was denied by the Oregon state health program that refused coverage for the drug Tarceva, $4,000 a month? Barbara was offered assisted suicide. Is this what you mean by govt staying out of people's choice to live or die? This is one case, but the cost of end of life care is majority of the cost of Medicare. In UK's nationalized hc, they essentially let the elderly die instead of treating them. I pray that your parents stays healthy.

He said it is being made in one way or the other whether it is medicare, medicaid or the private insurance industry--which is true, one of the 3 of them are deciding it, and IMO, yes, each patient should have a written will beforehand to take out any "what-ifs", and so nobody--gov't or private insurance--stays out of it.

What about the case of Barbara Wagner who was denied by the Oregon state health program that refused coverage for the drug Tarceva, $4,000 a month? Barbara was offered assisted suicide. Is this what you mean by govt staying out of people's choice to live or die? This is one case, but the cost of end of life care is majority of the cost of Medicare. It's not the employee's choice to keep their HC provider as Obama said (he's such a liar). If the private HC industry collapse, US HC will be a public option. @cyrusfx1 It's granted that VA HC is better than nothing for now. It has it's flaws & cheaper than the private HC that the college iis offering. The HC isn't broken. It can be improved by using free-market principles
What should've been done is to allow HC insurance availablilty cross state, instead limit few companies w'/in a state.
I also have disability insurance to help me in case I become severely hurt, ill, or disabled. Illness plagued (no pun intended) my family history.

@cyrusfx1 My roommate could've invested in disability insurance and save himself from the flaws of Medicare. Any entitlements, like Medicare & Obamacare, can be taken away by the govt. Like I tell many people, you may not receive the necessary care just because you are covered. I covered myself in case the VA HC is cut.
When it comes to HC I prefer the "proactive" approach rather than to rely on govt entitlements. The VA HC I purchased is temporary until I finish school and get a good job.

National healthcare is designed more to make sure that low income earners don't have to suffer and die because they can't afford exorbitant medical fees for common procedures.
It doesn't magically make private medical practice disappear. If you want risky surgery or experimental procedures then you can still do that with a private operator.

Generally old people do not have a problem with doctors aggressively treating them. They have to fight to get standard treatment. Note that the Dr. at first said Mom was too old. My husband's dad, when he was terminal, the hospital couldn't ditch him fast enough. If our taxes pay elders' care, I fear for them.

The bottom line is that Obama care is the liberal's big step to take over everyone's freedom and eliminate the freedoms that we have in the greatest country in the world. Liberalism is Socialism and it will destroy this country if citizens do not stand against the destruction that Obama and the liberals are trying to bring. What right does the government have to control healthcare?

1st cost savings; tort reform.
2nd cost savings; open health care plans nationwide to make them more competetive.
Let's pick one state and use it as a proving ground and see how the plan would work. Not Rhode Island because it is not big enough to hold 1018 pages. If the plan is so graet, why did congress vote to not use it and keep their own? Good for the goose?

For those that are concerned about the costs of health care, here is a fact for you "Since 1970, Medicare and Medicaid's combined per-patient costs have risen from $344 to $8,955, while the combined per-patient costs of all other US health care have risen from $364 to $7,119" As you can see, the Gov costs more, not less! we ALL owe $175,000 for Medicare & SSI. Add this to mix & rationing will be the only choice Available!!!!!
