  • Can someone explain to me why the 2003-2004 incarnation of The Dead with Jimmy and Warren gets so much bad reviews? Deadheads are constantly on message boards saying how Warren was a terrible fit for the Dead and things like that. Can someone with more musical knowledge than me explain why? I downloaded a few The Dead shows from 2004 and there are some sick ass jams so I don't get it. Someone please tell me why Warren playing with The Dead was so terrible?

  • viola lee blues canzone antica ri fatta con spavalderia esecuzione con qualche vuoto

  • new minglwood?? Am i hearing things

  • that's Warren and Jimmy.

  • So pumped for further. Especially the ct mohegan sun date. No better way to rcok my 21st bday than with live dead tunes jammin

  • Nobody will ever play it like Jerry, but Warren, in my opinion is the best, most versatile guitarist out there today. He is amazing with ABB, he did a great job with the Dead, Widespread, The Crows and Mule is one kick ass band too. Can't wait to see a couple of shows in NYC this March.

  • JIMMY'S A TURD!

  • I think it's great Phil & Bob & Bill & Mickey are still playing.toghether

Think The Dead is a good name for them.

Just don't know how Hayes got the job. Maybe it's because I grew up with

local bands w/ lead guitar players

    like Jerry Garcia Jorma Kaukonen

    Carlos Santana John Cipollia

Jerry Miller & Barry Melton among others that this guy just doesn't seem to me to have the Magic.?

  • whoa you think warren haynes doesnt got the magic?!?!

  • Never said he can't play & whole lot of people like his playing a lot. It's just my another bozo on the bus opinion from what I've seen & heard & likes.

He never surprises me let alone

as other did Blow My Mind but that's just me but if they like playing w/ him I like that.

For them & all The Magic they gave me

for all the years from back when The GD

first Amazed Me & Blew My Mind.

  • they need to play it more smooth with cheap distortion,, much better like from 67

  • phil, billy, mickey and bobby were playing these songs with jerry for 30 years, and Jerry always said that he was neither the frontman nor spokesman for the Grateful Dead. They have every right to go on as "The Dead"

  • @ridethelightning23 Yep, and they have every right to suck.

  • Best in the biz! Then and now.

  • Does anyone know where I can download bootlegs or soundboards of this show or other Dead shows?

  • nice...i like that they played some good ol' grateful dead...there is more to the dead than truckin and touch of grey.

  • 40 years or so later and their still just as cosmic

  • I think this is awesome. So whats if its not the same as it used to be, bless them for keeping the music alive. Shoreline in May, you can bet I will be there with a smile on my face!

  • It rubs me the wrong way when anything after Jerry's death is termed "The Dead". There was one Grateful Dead, and it always included Garcia, Weir, Lesh and Kreutzmann. Garcia's solos on this song were transporting. These aren't.

God love 'em for continuing to play together... but they need to dump that name. It was Garcia's project, really. Rest his sublime soul.

  • thats precicesly the reason they call it The Dead instead of the Grateful Dead. Because Garcia, Weir, Lesh, and Kreutzmann was the Grateful Dead. so they just call themselves The Dead.

  • Same idea. It implies that it's the same band. Everyone used to refer to them as The Dead back in the day. What if John Paul Jones had decided to go off and form a band called Zeppelin? This band sounds like hell... TO ME. Jerry WAS The GD (and this is coming from someone who is a major fan of Phil Lesh's basswork.) Garcia was from another planet. Duane Allman once said of him something like, "That guy walks on air." I don't mean to crap on anyone else's taste... this is just my opinion.

  • yeah i definantly get what youre saying. Garcia was out of this world, and without him the band is different. but i think you can still hear Jerry within the music, because this entire style of music was his, so with or without him, i think his presence is still there. we can debate all day on what they should name this project but we may still have different opinions. but one thing i know for sure is i am definantly going to be at the forum in la on may 9th for this tour..because its good music

  • Come check out the 1967 version of this song on my site.

  • Wow, ever notice how the more toys Bob got, the worse guitar player he became. Check out how much more blistering the version is from Monterey Pop in 1967. Jerry was scorching! We miss you Jerry.

  • darien lake best show of tour does any 1 know if i can c it any ware

  • the didn't play at darien in 2004 dipshit. that was in 2003.

the first night at boston was the best show in 2004!!
