Thanks for the help! I started work this year at Kings Landing Historical Settlement, in Prince William, NewBrunswick. I am going to be making pull taffy this weekend, and I have never made it before. (wish me luck) lol
@yoyomax12 the job is going great, I love working there. The taffy turned out very good, one of the best in the village! I ended up making it on Saturday and Sunday. Visitors got to see how it was made and get to try it. I was even able to suprise a few with my new found knowledge of taffy pulls and the feast of St Catherine! lol Thanks again for your help!
Cool i just made this, looks almost exactly like it. Only for me it's very hard to pull and my hands keep on slipping off of it. I think i put too much grease on the pan. But it tastes good. Thank you for the instructions.
Smart nuns...bribery with taffee! lol Good tradition...you explain it so well and it helps me appreciate the traditions of French Canada (I never understood them when I lived in Western Canada, much to my dismay). Cool tip about brittle stage too; I love how much I learn from your vids. I hope I'm brave enough to give that a try..my older grandids would enjoy the process I'm certain. Jacquie (UK) x
The older grandkids would love it! They do the pull taffy thing (not the cooking part, the pulling part) with the junior kindergarten kids at my son's school, so little kids can do it too. Lots of clean up afterwards though, as you can imagine. :)
This is very interesting, On Dec 13 we also celebrate a woman who refused to marry a man... Her name is St.Lucy (Lucia which means Light)
It is said that on the night before
her wedding, Lucia gave all her money to the poor and refused to marry this wealthy man. Because no one could understand why she did that, Lucia was accused of being a
witch and was burned at the stake on December 13 in the year AD 304.
Even after her death, however, Lucia was said to continue helping
Tammy you are one good cookie, fruit cake and taffy maker! I bet you are a wonderful cook also! Nice video and well, I don't know if I will ever make taffy but if I need a recipe for some I know where to come. Hugs!
Awwe..Max is so cute. This was just as sweet as the taffy. HugZ you two!

@quill559 It would be too hard to cut when it is rock hard, better to cut when it is softer

I've never made taffy you make it look easy
misty420luvsfrogs 3 years ago
It's fairly easy if you have a thermometer for the candy temperature, otherwise it can be hit and miss.

I love watching people make food. I know it's weird. I think because it's the one thing that binds us all together. It is life.
audionautix 3 years ago
You are so right!
I find myself watching the food network and thinking the same thing.
yoyomax12 3 years ago
I had never heard of taffy until Lolaknows sent me some from USA and it is like nothing i have ever tasted before
twish1999 3 years ago
It is basically pure sugar (as you can see in the video), the molasses gives it a nice flavour.
yoyomax12 3 years ago
im sure that my son could make a BIG mess outta that, may need to save that recipe for next year :P
looks yummy though, your videos always make me hungry!
blubutterfly07 3 years ago
