Indy 500 - 10 Lap Victory

A classic game from my childhood. Brings back good memories. Though I have to say I would have enjoyed the 200 lap race more, if there were like only 10 fastest cars in the race. Overtaking the slow cars again and again after just a few laps was quite annoying.

Wow man !!! thanks for this... I used to love this game in High School. I never could win clean though. I used to crash all the other cars because the car Im driving was invincible :) and thats the only way I could win.

This game is the grandfather of all racing sims. Played in my dorm room 24 hours a day... lol. I think the Buick would do like 248, but blow the engine in the race. I actually ran 500 miles with the Yellow Penske, ending music brought back some memories too. Sure - I am iRacing now... but this game will always be cool to me. So realistic for it's time. The ability to spin out, replays, etc. Wow...

You dont´t use the standard setup, do you? Amazing, how fast you go around. I never made it faster than 225 mp/h

Also very nice, that you won the race fair: No crash, no blocking. Nice loadup!

@croanestor The perfect ammount of fuel is the biggest help, a bit of toe in and soft compound tyers.. I also used to be an indy 500 addict. finished a 200 lap race once. sounds OFF.

If i remember correct the game has startparameters for sb16 (soundblaster16) and vga graphics. can someone confirm? maybe even c:/indy.exe /help

Starting the game with "indy /a" will use the sound blaster option. Much better sound! ;-)

@sw1tched the pc-version uses the pc-speakers ;-) and Penske is the yellow car, the blue one is Lola ?, and red one is the one car that used red in ~1990 because thats the time perid this game is set. Indycar is more like a US thing, europeans like me dont know it all.

I played this game soooooo many times... When I was not playing it, I was playing Tie Fighter :P

Never managed the 200 laps, always crashed after 15 minutes.

It already add all: practice, qualify, public during the race, setups for the car...

The developers (Papyrus) developped a lot a great simulations after that : Grand Prix Legends, Nascar 2003... Now Papyrus is dead but their former employees develop iRacing one of the most promising online simracing game !

What is your setup settings?

Here is what I have written about the settings (I don't even remember exactly what everything means but I still might help if st is unclear lol):

- 15 gallons

- 3/1 (probably front/rear movements counted from the top)

- RF/RR/LR/LF: m22/s24/s25/s26 (medium tires, 22 pressure and so on)

- +0,40 inch

- shocks: 4/4/4/4 (counted from the bottom)

- cambers: -0,5/+0,25/+1,75/+0,5

- gears: 9,76 6,26 4,28 4,20

so how many times croa u drove this 200 laps through? I managed to play that once, with that blue car. If I remember right, I was 13th at the end. and I was something like 7-8 laps behind the leader..

usually, when I was playing this 10 laps race, i usually make others to crash, and I was having fun..

I never managed the 200 through, usually I was in the lead by lap 30 and by the lap 60 it got too boring, I always missed a 'save status' button lol. I wouldn't do it in the blue car ever it had to be a competitive car and setup (and more risky).
