  • Tortoises dont like water... at least most of them

  • Good

But this shouldn't be a swimming class

It should be just his daily shower :)

  • what the hell man don't u do any research before buying animals well if u don't one of the main things shallow water dumb ass

  • ur so mean to him fat ass i mean come on ur probably a pet tortoise abuser

  • Yeah Boris RuNaWaY as far as u can!.

  • *rollseyes*

  • "Fat-Ass" thats nice.

  • discusting! how could you treat a poor animal like that? especially a tropical species! wouldnt be serprised if that poor tort is dead now

PEOPLE WATCHING THIS VID: THIS IS NOT HOW YOU SHOULD TREAT A TORTOISE! IT IS ANIMAL CREULTY

  • you are a silly little bitc* your tort deserves a good home this is animal crualty grow up ang get a life

  • Your tortiose doesn't deserve you.

  • Your mean calling your animal names.

  • Ah, The Netherlands, even wetter than Britain! Whenever I've let Sprout have his occasional bath I try to towel him off as best I can. He looks like he's being tickled when I poke the towell gently into the openings of his shell. I've thought of using a hairdryer on him but I'm worried that it might dry out his poor eyeballs. x

  • If this is done frequently it will also suffer from respiratory problems. The animal was obviously distressed and was placed in there for entertainment which is cruel and stupid.

  • ofcourse you are right that is cruel and stupid when people do harm to animals for entertainment purposes...

  • Yes my tortoise drops a 'log' in his water dish quite frequently. It's strange isn't it? You'd think his instincts would tell him not to soil his only source of drinking water. Sorry if I came across as snappy, it sounds as if you take good care of your tortoise. Is the climate quite hot where you live? I guess tortoise owners in the UK are discouraged from bathing them too often because it's pretty cold and damp here a lot of the time and it's hard to dry them properly afterwards.

  • no problem :D

No, It's absolutely not a hot climate here... I live in The Netherlands... My turtle (Greek land turtle) lives in a terarium with UV-light bulb... I try to take good care of him, that is only logical ofcourse; he's been breed in captivity with legal papers. Ow, when I give him his monthly bath, it is always indoors and after that he goes straight back into his terrarium, where it is warm...

  • true my tortoise is a russian tordtoise he lives in a viv aswell

  • cruel and stupid.

  • it is not cruel, really... a turtle needs to be in water for his digestive system... it will poop better, when it is in water... :D

  • A TURTLE needs to be in water yes but a TORTOISE, as a land based animal, could suffer shell rot from excessive moisture. The only exception is after hibernation when a tortoise should be bathed in a shallow dish to encourage it to urinate, (not poop!) in order to clear out it's kidneys from toxinsthat have built up during the long hibernation period. The tortoise in the film clip was placed in a deep dish and only kept afloat by trapped air in it's shell.

  • you are incorrect... ANY turtle (even a land turtle) needs to be in water ever now and then... and we can go like: is so, is not, is so, is not... but in the end: I am correct :D maybe you are correct about the deep dish... I put my own turtle in a very undeep bath every 1 month... because of his digestive system... And: my tutle has got a drinking dish... he always goes in there to relief himself from feces...
