It's a really interesting concept.. how does it land? does it need a parachute to brake?

at 1:30 he shuts the rocket off letting out some unburnt fuel and exhaust.

Ther aircraft is just a standar velocity canard, similar to a long EXE or rutan VariEZE. They glide them in and land then just as they normally would with any other powerplant.
