  • I'd gladdly wait 3 months for my 944 to be road ready!! GReat Work!

I left my 944 with a mechanic for a trans job; he had it for 10 months. Got it back and still needed $3K more work; bad differential. Got that fixed, then discovered I had a bad torque converter. Got that fixed to have my wife blow the engine on the Hwy; now needs a valve job. Headache after headache. My wife hates my car, but I love it. Howevver, I need a new mechanic.

May have to take it up to Santa Clarita this time.

  • @muzkat101 I feel with you! The engine problem happened to me short time after I bought the car. My wife was very angry ... Meanwhile the car and I had better times. We traveled twice from Germany to Greece and back, each trip about 5000 km without problems. You may see the videos in the channel here.

  • Subber Arbeite!

  • I have a 1983 944 non-turbo sitting in my garage in need of plenty repairs. The only good thing is that it still ran but that was at least 2 years ago. It needs a lot, including sunroof and center console gauges to be installed.

  • with that many miles I would have replaced/refurbished the whole top end.

  • your a good old fashioned good german i enjoyed your video, good work! i also own an s2 and luckily i got to my tensioner before the pad let go! greetings from vancouver canada.

  • if anybody could watch my video of my 944S and help me out with my problem i would much appreciate it , i have no idea what the problem is but iam getting a knocking/ticking sound from the engine , and it runs very poorly , any sort of help would be great

  • HI greta i want to know if the damage occcured for the chian tensioners pads were too old casing the chain to brake, how many mile sin engine? usually the chain last 400k kilometers is teh tensioners pads what gets old creating groves! thanks

  • @fabio964r Hello, after the crash it is difficult to say what caused it. The engine had 182000 km and I have a bill from Porsche, that at 160000km the inspection has been made. In principle the 1600000 service includes a check of the tensioner. I guess that the upper pad have been guilty. At least the rests I found support this thesis. Generally, I would propose to renew the pads every 800000 km and to renew the chain every 1600000 km. A worn chain kills slowly the cogs on the camshaft.

  • @plumbers69 Until now it is working fine. I run meanwhile some 13000 km in 1 year. A video of our great travel to Greece you'll find in the same account.

  • Funny, the smoke reminds me of when i did the HG on my 951. I thought I had messed up. Good work

  • Thanks for sharing - nice repair job!

Interesting - Maserati biturbos 24V engine have chained cams too, but without any tensioner, probably due to larger sprockets :)

  • Great video! I want to learn how to fix things, and this video is helpful! thanks! good job!

  • great videos , but there was still a noise like ticking noise what was that ?

  • @boujouj Hallo, thanks for your nice comment. The noise you hear comes from the hydraulic valve tappets. The head was off for about 3 months, thus the tappets lost all the oil. After restart they made a terrible sound, but already during the video it is reducing. Half an hour later it has vanished.

  • @irina25661 thanks for sharing , i told you that because it happened with me too after i changed the connecting rod bearings and i changed the oil and filter , i drove it for 3 weeks slowly just to let the bearings to take place , and suddenly i am hearing a noise similar to the connecting rod bearings ,when i keep the rpm over 2500-3000 and the oil pressure is down to 3 . so what do u think ?

  • @boujouj, hard to say. At 3000 rpm the oil pressure should be over 4 bar, even the oil is hot. The valve tappets you may check. Run the engine, stop it and remove the cover. Press with a piece of wood or plastic on the tappets. If you are able to press them more than 0.1 mm they are the problem.

  • eine der besten Maschinen in der Welt

  • i love the happy ending we need more mechanics like that.... made in germany fix by germands

  • Great work and Great video. Congrats!
