Takes me back in a time when I went home for the first time: Christmas in '04. I had a hearty breakfast then, after riding on a Greyhound bus for a FULL 24 HOURS!
I did basic in Amarillo Texas in 1968 and remember leaving there for Sheppard AFB Texas on a Greyhound bus too. The meal we got after finishing basic was nothing even close to the one that the USMC does for their basic graduates. I need to give the Marine Corps credit for coming up with the "Warrior Breakfast" theme. I will bet that a lot of Marines visit this video thinking that it is all about some marine only to find some Air Force guy dining at his dad's house!
@aboonski I was tired more than anything else. Greyhound bus trips are miserable out-of-state. And getting a decent meal helps a lot since I may have went hours in-between appropriate stops to restaurants. And nothing like a good breakfast to warm you up from the cold, too.
broadbent..my main man lol..this guy is prolly one of the funniest ppl ive ever met...we were pretty good friends in tech school at keesler and sheppard. im now stationed at tyndall afb in florida for avionics.. barksdale isnt really too far away but tell him i said wats up.. from hammond
I sure will! You should see the lady he recently married! Go on Facebook and ask to be one of his friends. He's over in Kuwait right now with about 4 months left on his deployment. I'll send him a copy of your message in this video. Be sure to see him driving my military trucks too. Thanks for leaving a comment on my video!
hey i go to basic in a few months im gone be a jet mechanic and go to school in either mississippi or kansas and i have no idea what is after that so i dont know if Daniel is doing any thang like that if so id appreciate any information to know what lies ahead. thank you
Well, you definitely have a lot in store. If you are going to school for avionics, than you should be stationed at Keesler AFB for your first six weeks of technical training, i believe although i'm not positive. I wanna say you'll be studying electronic principles which got frustrating for a few blocks. Keesler is a really nice base though it is still under construction due to Katrina. there are several casinos off base if you are into that sort of thing and are 21 or older.
yeah thats what i was thanking and thanking of goin in avionics just seems like a lot of stress, but yeah i would love to keesler cause see i live in Alabama hell right beside fort benning. so aint that far away from home but o yeah i been to biloxi a few times moms and pops goes all the time too lol. but no unfortunatly im not old enough for the casinos. only 17, be 17 in basic too. but all in all thats what i want is keesler. o, hows that work exactly? like will i be getting income and how
does might personal life go, as far as getting to go off on my terms and off days , and how many days a week is school. and if you know about the income question remember that one, lol. see i heard you go to work during the day and school at night if so same questions. (off days, personal time)... thank you
Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. Daniel is doing great at Barksdale AFB and he knows he made the right decision to go into the Air Force when he did. With the economy so bad right now, the military is a pretty secure job for young men and women who are fortunate enough to be selected for active duty. Be sure to go to the graduation ceremony because it is well worth attending! Best of luck to your son too!
Airman Annis, thanks for commenting on this video of Daniel's Warrior Breakfast. He's doing real well and is stationed at Barksdale AFB Louisianna. His brother & I just drove his car up for him last month. When he gets home next I will be serving him MREs - just won a 24 volt MRE heater on Ebay that I can plug into either of my military trucks so Daniel is IN FOR A TREAT!!!! He also gets to CHOOSE which meal he wants as well!
You must be very proud of your son, thanks for posting the video. I graduated from Air Force BMT in November and got to go home on leave for Christmas like he did. Man, it felt great being back home for a little while!
Thanks for leaving the comment! Daniel is now stationed at Barksdale AFB in Louisiana. His brother and I just drove up there on Saturday to deliver his car to him. We were hoping he would be stationed a little closer but Barksdale seems to be quite nice and I know he will like his new surroundings very much.
Air Force basic is more annoying than anything else. My family was in Germany when I went to basic and tech school, so I was alone for a long time. I couldnt even call home because of the time difference. It sucked.
i wish my boyfriend would have come home after basic training... he deserved a "warrior" breakfast... but indtead he had to go straight to tech school in sheppard... and he did achieve a warhawk status.. or maybe it was thunderbolt.. im not really familiar with it.. but he was 1 of the 2 people in his squadrin that got him. i am very proud of him... hope you enjoy your time at home. nad your meal!! and congrats!! and good luck!!
youre an awesome parent...after basic i went to tech school down the street in lackland and that sucked and didnt see home for like a year...good job on being a good parent
Before Daniel left for basic training I made him several of these and also called them a Warrior Breakfast as well. As you probably already know, the Warrior Breakfast was the brainchild of the US Marine Corps and the Air Force has no such thing that I know of; if they did it would be called the WARHAWK Breakfast. Even though my son did not achieve Warhawk status at the close of basic training I am just as proud of him for entering the Air Force and graduating from basic training!
Thank you so much for the compliment! Having been in the Air Force myself for 21 years I know what it means to come home to a home cooked meal and loving parents. Daniel has come a long way from working at Walmart and Toy R Us and deserved special treatment like this breakfast for instance.
And a bottle of Pepto Bismol afterwards :)
