  • what tranny did you use?

  • 36 mpg. Sweet jesus. Good thing exxon has been holding dodge back.....

  • Mileage please? 30- 40mpg!!!???

  • is there a kit for this swap?

  • Where did you get the work done?

  • I want to do a 4bt swap on my 99 dakota sport. Was there a lot of major mods you had to do to get the engine in?

  • @eastontowing

Did you get a "kit" for this? How much modding did you have to do to get the 4bt in there

  • What Trans do you have behind it?

  • now thats a work of art.

  • I have a V6 3.9. Your better off putting this engine in on all 3.9L. with the way gas prices are going.

  • Did you have to do a body lift or any mods to the chassis?

  • this thing is fuckin awsome

  • dude whats your mpg?

  • i'd love to do this to my dakota lol thats freakin sweet

  • ANY WAY I COULD GET A STEP BY STEP ON HOW TO DO THIS? I GOT A 4.7 V8 IN AN 04 MODEL THAT IS SHOT! ID LIKE TO SWAP OUT FOR A 4BT!

  • how hard is the conversion

  • awesome job!

  • @20DAK03 thanks

  • @eastontowing amazing, just amazing.

    subed:)

  • what does 4bt mean??

  • @mudcharger Engine class 4bt (4 cyl) (b series) (t turbo)

  • @eastontowing o ic. that makes sence now. thanks

  • @mudcharger It's a 3.9l 4 cyl turbo diesel. People have probably talked junk to him for having a 4cyl diesel in that truck till they realize he's the only dakota around getting 20-30 mpg(hopefully)

  • good job!....how long did this take to do and what kind of MPGs are u gettin with it?

  • this might be a stupid question, but that truck was the 5.7L right?...do you think the '03 4.7L dakota would be able to handle the 4bt cummins? I'd love to swap one into mine but still have much to learn...

  • @midgetman23

No, it's a 5.2 or a 318 in cubic inches. As long as you left the cummins stock, yes. you must remember that a late model 4BTA puts out about 130hp and 330 foot pounds of torque. If you bump the pump and close the waste gate slightly it will jump to 160 and 400, which is the same as a stock 12 valve 6BT. I dont know for sure what trans the 4.7 has, if it's the 727 you're in great shape if not I would find out what it can handle. If you dont plan on building it past 175 hp

  • @midgetman23 you could get away with a 727 trans and Dana 44s, however I would put at least dana 60s for the long haul. These engines are wonderful, they last 300,000++ miles and in a pickup like that they could get 30mpg, also if you have a 4x4 that you use more than once a year, the T-case will need some thought. • eastontowing... You did a hell of a job on this little truck, any auto manufacturer would highly benifit from offering a truck like this. For some reason they feel there is no demand for them in the U.S.. In South America, Ford puts the 3.9 ISB in 250 and 350's. I believe even a truck like that would sell good here, 30mpg in a full size pickup would be hard to beat

  • @DrMcelroy Thank you.

  • @DrMcelroy there is plenty of demand, it is the damn EPA that is killing it.

  • Run Good? A 4bt is enough for a dakota.

  • @WARD5KUSTOMZ Has the same torqe as a 1995 dodge ram crew cab dually with a cummins and its twice as mutch as the underpowerd 318 that it came with. and yes it runs great.

  • pretty hard swap i'm assuming? and pricey or what?

  • @bomberhockey22 Pretty simple swap going through every thing engine trans t case 9inch d44 id say10k to 10,5

  • What kind of MPG's are you getting?

  • @springbokboer 36mpg

  • ive been looking at doing this to a four door dakota for awhile. It looks really nice. One thing I was worried about is the tranny and transfer case. I need four wheel drive where I live. Did you have any problems getting your four wheel drive to work? I'm looking at doing this soon so if you have any words of wisdom it would be much appreciated

  • @mtdieselguy ALL of the weak dodge drive train has ben swaped out with stronger componets you are in 4 a lot of work send me your # and i can let u no what your up against

  • What did you do for a rear end? did you keep it stock? auto tranny i asume? How much did the swap cost you? Great truck, thinking about doing one myself

  • @springbokboer ford 9 inch rear gm turbo 400 trans cost so far is ????

  • Have you checked your MPGs yet?

  • @jdawgerd 2.75 rear gear avg 36mpg

  • the big 3 would never build a 4 cyl diesel compact truck because that would be giving the consumer what they want. hopefully india will debut/import its version and sooner everyone else will catch on. btw why is your engine mounted crooked?

  • @f350powerstroke The engine is bolted 2 a gm adapter witch is mated 2 a gm 400 trans a 205 transfer case and a ford 9 inch . The gm adapter places the engine at an angle the trans pan is level .

  • @eastontowing sweet. u did the work yourself or had a shop do the job?

  • @f350powerstroke Did it myself ,

  • Thank you .

  • Thats fuckin sick!!! HEY CHRYSLER, GET A HINT, that truck would sell like nothing else. Well done, very nice.
