@epaluoma I don't think so, that movie is a story about female weightlifting in Korea but focused on a story about a female weightlifting team in a rural area

the bench press is much harder than these lifts because you can use more weight and it is more dangerous because you could drop the weight on your chest. i would be more impressed if she bench pressed this weight because it is much more difficult and dangerous.
Before you make that statement please and I stress be sure that you know what you're talking about. I'm only saying this because I compete in olympic lifting and have bench pressed and while they are both very different i must say that the snatch requires much, much more concentration, speed, precision, and focus. Plus, it happens so fast. I definitely agree with you that the bench is more dangerous.
@sjktss No ways! The olympic lifts are so humbling. I am not strong by any means, but at least I can squat in the low 300's, and DL 425(lbs). But I buckle if I try 95 lbs held overhead and try to squat. Thats just the squat part only, not even the full lift! Yet I see videos of cute little teenage girls doing 60 kilos. Like I said, humbling.
i am very happy she got the SILVER MEDAL in the olympic games in BEIJING .win the Belarus weightlifter which was second in 2007 world championship .same results but Yoon was lighter in body weight .
sorry for being blunt but it's the stereotype that strength can be determined by how much a person benches though benching is the most unathletic lift. olympic weightlifting is so much more than benching. weightlifters have immense explosion, verticals, and power. you got to experience it yourself
For a girl - and an ASIAN girl at that (as they are considered the most diminutive of all races, physically that is)to do what she did with the weight she had (more than 200 lbs) is just... amazing. Goes to show that hard work and persistence pays off.
No doubt she's trained very hard. I've worked out with 14-15 year olds in her country that train 4x a week harder than I have ever trained in my life. Also you'll find the difference in height is minor these days for East Asia. It's a different world.
Asia isn't struct by post-colonialist poverty anymore buddy. I know you Americans still carry stereotypes but that will change very soon this century.
Do you realize that most of the World Records in weightlifting are held by Asians? Chinese, Korean, Kaz, Thai, etc. Also some of the greatest lifters have been Asian - Kono, Miyake, etc. Also being "small" helps in weightlifting. I'm just sick of Asians being stereotyped as weak. like WTF?!?
you seriously are one big idiot this and that other comment wow. look at the records asians are covering them and beijing is goin to have a ton of asian medals
i don't know much about the women's side other than Jang Mi Ran, but the Korean team does pretty well for having such a small talent pool to select from
their 56k guy is pretty good, and two of their 77s jerked 200+ at this year's Worlds, pretty cool stuff ... would love to see vids of the team in training
Yes I really wished their 56 kg guy would have shown up, he was a contender for a medal. I wasn't able to read about what happened with him. Same for Lee Bae-Young in 69, but bombed.
Wow, crazy powerful jerk!

Are you really that stupid? Olympic lifters don't compete in the bench press. It's a much easier lift than the snatch or clean & jerk. Ignorant tard.

Uh, she is SNATCHING more than that!
Vatos75 2 years ago
Cretin, this is INFINITELY more difficult than benching at the same weight. Try it, moron. Watch your knee explode.
Tianzi38 2 years ago 20
i definitely agree with you, but i've seem some freaks who clean and snatch more than they bench. it is really weird.
