It's one thing to write a melody and words. It's quite another to score it for Orchestra or be able to play the parts. People who don't have a clue, like you, don't realize that or you wouldn't have said what you did. Don't get me wrong, I liked Freddy Mercury and some of Queen's songs. But to compare him to Bach, Mozart or Beethoven like some here, or to call him a GENIUS just shows how little people making the ridiculous claims know about music.
You do realize that the music on the album Barcelona (1988) was arranged by Freddie Mercury. Complete with all musical scores. Additionally, he is widely known to have written music for a wide variety of instruments including all of those played by the original members of queen: piano, acoustic and electric guitar, drums, and bass as well as several others. And, I have no idea why you think I called him a genius, although I will now. He and his three hundred million record sales.
LOL no it wasn't. His friend he met (was it Mike Molan) arranged and scored all the music. Freddy produced it and got arrangement credit for the little bit he did, but MM arranged and scored it. He also played all the piano parts, not Mercury.
Mike Moran (spaking in Freddie Mercury: Untold Story): I think for my money, Freddie Mercury is perhaps the finest interpreter of a song I've ever worked with..I've never seen anybody that gave absolutely everething in every performance. He was the most extraordinary person to watch, so I'd put Fred right up with the very best of all time"
ok I agree with you on that"call him genius"but he sure was very talented, gifted musician, singer, songwriter, artis vhatever and I am very greatfull to him I could be part of his work,by leting the world to know,to see to experience.Freddie offten said that he is not the leeder of the band and there are so many people behind his fame,so he was greatful to them allways.
He was a good person, but he was not carefull enaugh,so sorry for that.
you certainly have all the clues in the world, but not the one for respect, cuz you don't write Mercury's name properly. what a lake of respect! Then you forget to speak about feelings in music. No respect, no feelings, then you speak about music? nuff said
I agree with you to an extent...but still writing a melody is also very difficult!...nonetheless though..orchestrating a melody is also just as difficult!...I'm sure all great artist collab with musicians to get the finer result of a work...even Mozart..he must have gotten help and inspiration from someone or his actors or singers...he couldn't have done it alone!
that is right and we thank to all those who helped, suported him along the years and worked with him to get him where he was...on the top..in our hearts:)
Dear Dave, You MADE this? It's fantastic. This is the first time I've ever seen it. I prowl You Tube for hours every day, but somehow missed this one. I have it saved to my favorites, so I won't lose it. Thanks so much. I love it.
freddie was the first artist i fell in love with when i discovered queen at 12, now ten years later, he's still the one i respect and admire with my whole heart, there is just something magnificent and inspiring about this man, his talent, his spirit, and his love for music!
i love you Freddie, i don't care about nothing, about your gay or nothing at all, you my inspiration in life and my guiding light, forever and ever i love you to ethernity sweet baby boy.

The whole ,,Barcelona - Suite" is such a masterpiece! I love QUEEN, but maybe THIS was Freddie's peak (or, at least, one of many peaks!).
Besides Michael Jackson the most-stunning, most - amazing, greatest and most-awesome singer of all times!
A man with so much passion, with so much love... Seeing him singing Barcelona, you can feel and see this fire, this passion - so beautiful!!! !!!
Barcelona should thank Freddie Mercury FOREVER for this MONUMENT he built for the city!
