  • Working stiffs, baby-headed giants, men in haz-mat suits, techno crucifixes, sexual pastry, spud-men, Spock clones, agnotic choirs, freaky chicken people, adroid monkeys, scientists, bandaleros, and masked assailants.- Devo thought of everything for this video.

  • This was put together by myself.

It's made up from all of Devo's videos, give or take a few.

There is no official video for this track.

  • I know. I Just couldn't resist.

  • Ownership notice: This is to let YouTube, Google or whoever know that I created this video...

you crated this video but you dont own it.... retard you can be sued for this comment

  • You're the fucking 'tard for not getting your head round why these words are used. Maybe you don't know what happened on YouTube a while back. Frankly, I don't give a shit cause the remark you made without knowing what my channel is about, leaves yourself wide open to the kind of comments that have been left on yours. Unlike mine where you won't find a bad one, and are more of an appreciative nature.

I'd give up with that band too, they're fucking embarrassing... Sue me!

  • Devo sure knew how to make music videos.

  • I bet you anything this music video is going to haunt me the rest my my life...lol.

  • DEVO=PUNK ROCK!!!!

  • Always loved this song, along with Find Out and Dr. Detroit which were never on records.

  • What an awesome B-Side!

  • my favorite song!!!

  • Excellent, please keep-it on!

  • ......awkward turtle.......

  • What music video is that from at 1:13?

  • Peek-a boo on the Oh No It's devo album.

  • Thanks, I'm going to check it out now if I can find it on youtube.

  • nice video....b grade sci fi, fits it like a glove...etc etc etc

  • Well son of a bitch! I haven't heard this since I played the 45 in years and years.

  • i gotta say

    devo owns

but nirvana did a pretty good cover

  • only heard nirvana's version of this song. but this one is pretty cool tough.

  • lol i thought it was nirvanas song at first but i qould not of expected it to be this! lol

  • that talk of "real punk" is pure rubbish

  • what part do you speak of ?

  • people judging bands not for their music but for how they fit genres...

  • its the industries doing,, and maybe a bit of the bands fault as well ,, Integrity gone?

  • Right, what do you mean?????

  • this looks like a bunch of different devo music videos strung togeather...good song though

  • THATS PSYCHODELIC i feel i'm high

  • no way, ive listened to both many times. DEVO IS BETTER -then again it's just an opinion.

  • Nirvana covered this,

but this versions pretty good :))

but im a full on Nirvana fan so id have to say Nirvana owns it abit

  • Spaz!!! At .30 the guy in the reddish pants. He was known as Spaz and not in the group. Trying to find out who he was....My only internet search that ever failed....

  • this is brilliant!

  • awesome

  • Comment removed

  • French fry in the donut.

    I'm sure someone saw that.

  • id say nirvanas is better lmao

  • innovative... visionary.. original as original bike company

  • sabresgo you're a looser

  • devo made this stuf up! you cant say that bout nirvana

  • Well no, but in all fairness no cover is created by the band playing it. It would kind of defeat the point.

  • i just buy 6 DEVO LP's on eBay ... i'm born 1990 :) and FROM GERMANY. so im sure many people think I'm an idiot because i don't know anything about this band but i give a fuck i love this music!

  • ^What the hell do comments like these receive so many thumbs up for? It's not like he/she said anything remotely interesting. Is it really the whole "hey everyone I listen to this even though people wouldn't expect me to being that I'm __" nonsense that's impressing people?

  • what's the problem you lil lamb?

does a YouTube comment have that high priority in your life?

  • Regarding Punk -The Briefs are a modern band doing 'old-fashioned' punk. They are more the Blondie New York Grunge type, and you lot probably would hate them for being punk-homage, but it's great to hear guys still singing about Orange Alerts, Neutron Bombs and Communism. I like 'em, but then I'm an 80's guy. Obviously I'd love it if Devo sarted recording new stuff.

  • DEVO ROCK !

  • Devo didn't start as a punk ba band then sell out, first off they started before any one new what punk was ,, you young ones seem to think punk is a precise sound with a precise look,, it really wasn't like that . I think some people tend to pigeon hole what punk was ,, if any of you were around back then punk was anything non AOR Classic vinyl. not what I amm seeing now ,, now people want to dress like the sex pistols , all I'm seeing is a bunch of clone punkers.

  • Amen to that, I'm only 20 but when I see these new 'punks' thinking they know what they're doing need to check out some DEVO or Wire, and their heads will be promptly exploded.

  • You are totally right!! So many of these fake ass "punk rock" groups, especially emo bullshit, need to hear and understand true PUNK ROCK!!! Blondie, The Clash, The Ramones, etc,,,,

  • Yeah, to these new 'musicians' punk is what their producers tell them. Hell, most probably don't even know how to make their own music.

  • blondie was a pert of the first wave of punk in the new york scene 1976-77,, yeah I agree they strayed from there humble begginings and morphed in to a new wave lite pop band. the band you speak of was the third wave of punk rock,, or the hard core scene,, the british copy cat punk scene being the second wave

  • blondie was the first rap on the chart

  • I remember this band from when I was attending an xtian elimentary school in the late 70's all the little punk ass kids were into them lol

  • ohh! Devo was Punk back in the day most punks knew about Devo back in 78-79 ,, . no they werent hard core punk,, but they were hard core bizarre which qualifies as punk . hell I saw Henry Rollins at the Palladium in L.A and he seemed to be enjoying them.

  • Also, they were unique, talented, and very political.

  • dare to be stupid

  • i need some help. found out as i already knew devo did turn around first. a person i knew came up to me and said. devo? thet did a cover song of betiful world. by ........" i dont remember the band he said also i couldnt argue it was a cover or was covered by the other band. i di say the do betuifull world who came first donno.

  • adding the betuifull world thing. i was in a vegan bar (am not vegan) but out of no were betifull world is played. i asked the waitress if they have an in house dj or such. since thats devo and you dont here devo in the midlle of scotland. she said no but we do think our jukebox has eyes. i am in my devo t shirt with devo badges on my jacket. which a few folks shout in the stree.ARE WE NOT MEN! i have say WE ARE DEVO!

  • Beautiful World is indeed by Devo.

  • lol devo

  • I love DEVO but they clearly need to read up on NFPA standards. What if there was a fire guys?

  • damn, nirvana made this song psycho its amazing you listen to this and besides the lyrics and the beat its totally different.

  • not really, it's just rawer but no better or worse

  • I alway liked B sides...I always thought that the tune Whip it was overated...Devo had so many tunes better than Whip it...

  • Devo is punky new-wave awesomeness.

  • DEVO is so obviously punk it's not even a point worth making.

  • they arnt punk to the truest point, they do have a punk streak and songs i call punk. they are new wave but punk can be added without much argument. i hang around with some modern punks ahd devo dosnt enter their vocabulary aside from my devo badges.

  • Most modern punks are fake anyway. Usually listening to that gay ass EMO.

  • Agreed. Punk used to be about fighting the shit heap known as commercial music and being independent. Now punk bands just bend over, take it, and sell out.

  • you become what you hate, sex pistols is the prime example. now look at this, would the world be the way it is with all credit what punks have done for us, if sex pistols didnt sell out? if punks stayed out the light and such, we all would have some job to enjoy punk. only a few would while most are obliviouse, so they had to sell out to make punk bigger than it was and do the things it has done. without punk we would be in a more ruled by law world. we wouldnt be allowed to do anything.

  • Well I was talking more about bands that start punk, sell out over night, then they are transformed in about one week into a shit pop band. Bands like that make me mad. My band will never sellout. I've turned down one offer already. I'de rather enjoy playing music than doing it just to do it.

  • My punk friends had a friend thats gone all over the world played with many diffrent famouse people and could even be heard on many cds of bands and singers. they say "he sold his soul to see the world." he is paid a great amount and travled the world. they arnt bitter to what he has done, its just not what they want. they do want to be famouse, rich possibly, but they more want to stir the punk spirit around. they dont plan to be pushed around to be turned into a pop band or such as you said.

  • This is good. I like this.

  • NEW WAVE YAY

nirvana do a pretty good cover of this

  • Re Nirvana cover, yeah if you just open your eyes a little further you will find a video response of mine for it.

  • I also agree DEVO IS PUNK!!! they are the orginators.

  • Well done rp61 - excellent video! Duty now.

  • schräg

  • Great

  • DEVO is Punk Rock!!!

  • You are the only one who agrees with me!

    DEVO IS PUNK!

  • Where can I find a download for this song?

  • I-Tunes. It's on the expanded "Freedom Of Choice" CD.

  • I couldn't find it on i-tunes.

  • which music video is the one where they look like they are singing in a choir?

  • "love without anger"

  • just as good as the cover by nirvana

  • No cover ever made even compares to the original! For the simple fact that the original was written in a different era. Hence the popularity of CRAP, I mean RAP which is 99.9% samples & covers!Thank you please drive through, bye bye click.

  • I luv this song XD

  • That's new-wave-y

    and some post-punk

    and art rock

    with 99% awesome

  • Thanks to rp61wasinnocentok for sharing. I used to play this B-side wonder at the local pizza joint when I was around 15. Better than 'Whip it', I always thought. Devo rocks!

  • omg i ain't heard this in ages. i bought the 45 of whip it when i was a kid and now i remember that liking this b side even more

  • Great video

  • Never heard this song.

    Nirvana couldn't carry mothersbaugh's jock.

  • Is this the same video that devo uses for the intro for the concerts?

  • Everyone please check out DEVO's Blockhead song; that song totally rocks!!!

  • I totally agree, i just came from listening to Blockhead for the first time and it's one of their best

  • Damn they might be really freaking 80's, but this video is sooo reminds me of the 90's.

  • still timeless.

  • Mmmm, yessshhhh, this is good! Why only the flipside of "Whip It," spuds?

  • Devo always do good B Sides, in fact they are better than on the album on every occasion apart from Penetration In The Centrefold in my opinion. Social Fools is a great song.

EMO isn't the new form of Punk, it's the new form of Nu Metal. IE, a craze as opposed to a rebellion.

  • devo is way better than nirvana (my opion) don't give me crap now

  • Nirvana made a cover of this which can be heard on their Incesticide album from 1992.

  • Yeah most of the comments here on the other pages have been about which is the better version. I have no preference myself as I think both bands are cool. Devo's original version was of it's time and is very much the Devo sound. Nirvana's version is a great tribute and rocks out the song good and proper, as you would expect from them.

I made a video for the Nirvana version which you can see by clicking were it says 'This is a video response to Nirvana - Turnaround' underneath this Devo video.

  • trpp bella

  • Long live punk rock and Devo!! EMO is fake and sucks!

  • You're right but who said anything about emo?

This song is such a good song and should have been on the album instead of Cold War. Not that i don't like Cold War, i just don't think musically it fits in with the album, whereas this does.

  • I was just making a statement against the idea that EMO is suppose to be new form of punk rock. Devo and this song just served an example of true punk.

  • among the best rock lyrics ever.

  • 80's imagery is creepy...

    God I love this stuff...

  • From your comment, I take it you didn't grow up with it. Why do you think GenX-ers are so whacked? -- the 80s were our teen years.

No longer ashamed to admit that I love this stuff, too.

  • I didn't grow up with much of it... I remember seeing Pee Wee's big adventure when I was six or something, and that left a big impression. Large Marge scared the ever-loving snot out of me...

  • makes me wanna dance XD

  • I luv both versions very much XD

  • Pritty cool band :)

  • Awesome song & artist my favorite band true pioneers of Punk, Synth & New Wave Scene of the late 70's & early 80's! :)

  • i like the devo version and i like the nirvana version ,too... ^^

  • DEVO!

You used some footage from "Human Highway" with Neil Young.

Can u please upload Human Highway jam with Devo and Neil Young??

  • -If it,s the one with Booji boy in the cot/playpen in a studio it,s on Myspace

  • Me too, shame on me!

  • same here

  • How does this spread respect?!

  • what does this have to do with devo

  • its a devo song, silly.

  • they were SOOOO ahead of their time.

  • I never realised this was originally a Devo song...

  • Devo would LOVE this! Thanks for doing this. It's brilliant!

  • D E V O

  • Yeah! The original version is very good. Even though it's like techno, don't you think?.

Anyway, Nirvana rocks; I prefer their version.

  • Nirvana ? they have like how many albums?

    We are all Devo!!!! Devo!!!!

  • DEVO fot life. I'm gonna be a monkey in 50 years. We are Devo.

  • Kankergoed

  • i think nirvana better...

  • I LOVE DEVO!

  • ough...the second after I posted my comment it made me feel sick.

  • Try the Nirvana version video response,

that one might make you feel better.

  • Thanks for advising, nice of you! In fact I had known the Nirvana version before, so I know it works like that:-)

  • man, this is really pretty scary. brilliant anyway

  • fantastic... more than nirvana's one

  • creepy

  • I had no idea this was a devo song originally. Devo's awesome.

  • All devolved yetis should meditate on this video. High bulldada content alert! Carry on, spuds.

  • The truth about de-evolution....still being told today!

    Duty now, for the future!

  • I like this version, of course Cobain could make a cover of all songs and make them sound incredible, ya know

  • Devo was ahead of their time.

  • class, great vid man!!!! love devo

  • hey! it's like nirvana!

  • devo's is the original!!

  • Nirvana covered it. :]

  • Hell yeah it rocks

  • Hey has anyone sent for DVDs from booji boys basement. If so i want to know how it went because it seems cool.

  • any way you slice it, this video rocks...

  • I wish there was a way to filter out unintelligent people like misfitruby. Thats America though misfitruby is the most American person on youtube. Thanks for being and idiot, I'm so proud to have people like you in our country. Geterdone you fucking moron.

  • XD Yeah I totally understand your anger at these people. On the plus side, at least he got the reply, watched the video response and replied back with a better comment than the first.

  • devo are awesome

i keep finding out that lots of bands i like have all covered devo songs. its kinda cool :)

  • Yeah. It's on Incesticide.

  • Do you really think this user has heard of Incesticide? XD

  • no they made it better woo that was good.

  • Check the video response idiot.

Do you not think if others are debating which version they prefer, there just might be something in it. Where the hell have you been?

You must feel like a right chump.

  • had the synthesized sound and all the bullshit of the 80's not occured, Devo would have recorded this song and it would have sounded like Nirvana. don't get me wrong, i love Devo, but i'm just saying that this song sounds better with loud distorted guitars.

  • my freind just got the original single on record whip it single with well turnaround on the b side

  • Nicely made.

  • Maybe one of the most famous b-sides in the history of music.

  • Nirvana is better :)

  • nice video editing. this video is highly acclaimed by matrixcmitech.

  • i love both its a fine thought that kurt cobain would cover your song though ...this version is better ...although aneurysm by nirvana what a song :)))

  • This version is way better than nirvanas cover. I like nirvana and all but this song sounds so much more interesting like this.

  • the nirvana versoin is better...

  • Anyway I assume many rock fans think Nirvana´s version to be better because it´s more guitar-driven and sounds more "serious". Unfortunately, there many people who still think Devo to be a silly and commercial New Wave band. Of course, taking a look on all their work, even from "Oh no, It´s Devo!" to nowadays, and watching their live perfomances, we see those people are wrong.

  • Let them think what they like, people like us know different. Devo are, and will always be a massive influence on many bands to come.

    'Duty now for the future'

  • i love nirvana a lot but i take devo tottaly take them seriously i love them but it's the fags who are like"it's not hard enough"so ya
