I don't believe in strumming patterns, but it's actually just up-down most of the time. It is the left hand that matters.

So whats the benefit of tuning a full step lower? Does it make some of the chords easier?

Beautiful ! Isnt youtube great ? I have a question about playing, should the thumb always stay in that position ? I try to keep it that way, but its hard sometimes. maybe its because I have a soprano uke and need a bigger one ?

If you mean the left thumb, the answer is yes and no. The thumb should be relaxed and supporting the hand in the correct position. Ideally I think the thumb should be further back, behind the neck. I play the guitar and the guitar neck is much bigger.

I'm a bit of a purist, Deach. If a song can be done with just ukuleles, that's the way I do it. If it can be done with just one ukulele, even better.

But the real answer is probably "yes".
