  • @chatrkat, well i guess im lucky, i didnt know that about the paint, i just know it looks great after a good wax

  • @dvndvdsn1 mine has never had anything but non-abrasive wax on the finish. never through a car wash either, always hand washed. it still shines very nice when waxed. BTW I wish I lived in your state, Illinois sucks out loud! ...besides the winters snow and salt.

  • @chatrkat i live in san antonio, no snow here. not much of a rust issue with this thing either. whoever had it before me didnt care for it, but the clearcoat is still intact, and all of the important stuff underneath is solid

  • @dvndvdsn1 you're lucky, here in IL the salt destroys cars. very few of these vans still exist. mine was thoroughly rust-proofed. that and an staying out of the snow has preserved it very well, but the body has a couple little spots showing rust now. the underside is very good but I still had to replace the oil pan a few years ago. ...that was expensive! in 1986 no clear coat either.

  • wow, i have one almost just like that its a 1980 and its the extended, but mine has the swingout side doors. its nowhere near that nice but im fixing it up, i bought it in january for $400. runs great right now

  • @dvndvdsn1 I like this body style Econoline. Mine still looks like it does in the video, but I recently had a Walker exhaust system installed from the converter back. The mileage is still under 50k right now. It starts and drives like the day I drove it home from the Ford dealer in '86. Good luck with yours. If you live anywhere there's snow, check the oil pan, they rust through!

  • I would have kept the Econoline.

  • @exreptile666 I did, right now it's got just under 42k on it. I just had a new Walker exhaust system installed last month. Not bad, 25 years on the original exhaust.

  • i love those old econolines and that one is in great shape

  • @daniel55645 thanks, it still looks the same today. just more miles than when the video was made.

  • @daniel55645 thank you

  • that brown van looks like the prison van Bo and Luke were trying to get out of.

Jason Steele was a bounty hunter who framed them.

He caught them escaping from the courthouse and asked them,

"You boys wanna get in the van please?"

  • @cartman52071 LOL ...just saw this now.

  • @chatrkat haha

  • love these vans. I have a E-350 with the 7.3L in it. drives nice.

  • @thestuffz I just drove this one a short time ago, glad I decided to keep it. they are never seen anymore in my area. good luck with yours, that 7.3 will out last all of us!

  • @chatrkat oh i will. its a cab/chassis with a fiberglass bus body on it. only rust is on the drivers door from the huge truck mirrors. ill make a video of it some day lol. need a new set of batteries or figure out why the glows arnt working. only has 65k miles to..

  • @thestuffz my guess would be corroded main power connection or bad relay. gee, that motor is barely broken in. LOL I love my diesel F-250 too, plan on keeping it long as possible.

  • @chatrkat i hope it is something simple. lights not lighting up on the dash but after a while i can hear something cycle under the dash. I hope it is them!

  • @thestuffz I'm not sure where the glow plug relay is located in that vehicle but even if it's on the firewall under the hood, it's sound could resonate under the dash. also the relay could be functioning but the contacts are bad that supply 12 volts to the GPs and indicator light. just an educated guess, good luck.

  • These 3rd generation ones rust to shit

  • yeah it's a shame too.

  • good idea to put a cloth on top of the spare tire to protect it from the sun

  • I keep a sun shade in the windshield too. Thank you for watching.

  • Very nice van you got there, I've never seen one in such nice shape.

  • thank you. it looks the same today, except the odometer is up a little more now. I've decided to keep it after all.

  • these vans have much nicer interiors than the newer mid 90's econolines had. you never see these vans in good shape they are always beat to shit and rusted.

  • sadly there's a few little spots starting to show up now in 2009. guess I can't complain but I hate to see it happen.

  • just had to have a steering box replaced in my 2006 E-250 at 47k. pretty sad!

  • LOL really? All the cars I've had never had steering problems and my last car had 240K miles LOL. just inner and outer tie rod ends thats all.

  • yes I was serious. there's no excuse for a steering box to fail with that low mileage. JUNK!

  • I used to have a Clubwagon. Huge van, got like 3 miles to the gallon.

  • nice van, we use those for lobster vans up here in connecticut

  • thanks! BTW...I didn't know lobsters could drive?

  • lol they dont drive we put cooler vents in them and its like a big fridge that we store the lobsters in and transport them

  • As a "van guy" the choice would be easy for me. Get rid of one of the pickups. Everybody has a pickup...not everyone has a van as nice as that one.

  • good point! thank you.

  • well i am more of a pickup person, but when i 1st bought my 88 ford e150 to replace the oil burning dodge truck, i like it, it's like having a pickup with a pernament topper with easy access to the back without going thru a small window on a pour down raining day, and around here, it's hard to find a 10 ft cargo van, luckly i found 1 for 800 bucks and after putting investment into it, it runs like a champ, and i own a 91 van which is the last year for the model, i might restore it later

  • nice van, how big the engine you got?

  • 5.0L (302 ci)

  • nice van too, i got a 91 e150, last year on the model van, i got it in my faves :winks:

  • thanks! I also had a white 91 E-250 for several years, provided by my job. 150k when I turned it back in, it looked almost a nice as this one, now they buy silver vans.

  • EFI right? Nice!

  • yes. thanks! 16F outside today, it hadn't been driven in a week. started with no problem today but temp guage never moved off cold.

  • Holy crap! That is nice.

  • OMG that van is awesome clean wow man you sure did a good job taking care of that baby, we got an 1987 Ford E350 with a 6.9 diesel it's an RV and it has the same colours inside but it has 240000 miles on it, i have vids of it you should take a look :)

  • thank you! my dad always taught me to be careful of a car and it has paid off. I'm sure he's looking down and smiling right now. :-) wish I had a three truck garage, I hate leaving it outside now. my town won't permit car a canopy either.

  • can you do a cold start with ford that has it hood up

  • sure, but wait a few days. it's been rather warm around here lately.

  • OHHHHHHH MAN! you take VERY good care of your cars... your econoline, 22 Years old and it looks BRAND NEW. that econoline is in better condition then my 2003 F-150, i mean i maintain my cars and wash them lol but you blow me out of the water! Nice videos man

  • thanks

  • come on you really only have 38.000 miles on a 22 year old van you sure its not 138.000 miles i no you said it was only 38.000 but gosh lol

  • no, it now has 39,700 miles on it! I swear on a stack of bibles that's the orig mileage. still has original hoses too.

  • well thats cool i hope you still have it

  • thanks! I still have it because I just can't part with it. besides, the cat likes to ride in this truck the best. sadly it needs expensive work on the rear end (thanks to Ford for making crap difs back then)

  • Wow!! Nice vehicle. It is so rare to see a vehicle from the mid-80s still look like new to this day. Most other vehicles that some other persons might have from that era today look almost trashed, and poorly kept, and had lots of work done on them, and are in such poor condition that they won't start half the time or not at all, to where they are sitting in junkyards. I'm not too crazy about Ford vans in general, (no offense) but that one looks great. That may be a classic now!

    -Matt

  • Dude I wish I could have that truck. Or one like it. Haul my lawn mower around. Unlike many of the other owners of vans you have kept this one in good shape. Though could repaint it green...

    Still have it?

  • green? NO!

  • Is It still for sale? if so how much?

  • looks brand new. what does that get for gas mileage?

  • thanks! I have not checked the mpg, but with the 5.0 it definately uses a tank of gas faster than the neighbors Corolla. :(

  • chatrkat if you made the start and drive video of the van what is it called please reply

  • I have not made the video yet, but the weather is finally getting warm enough to play outside. I promise to advise when it's uploaded.

  • if you were to put it up for sale how much would you be asking?

  • hey chatrkat thank you since you are going to make a start and drive video of your for van

  • dude make a start and drive video of the 86 econoline van if you still have it

  • Yes, I still have it and enjoy driving the truck. You got it, I'll make a driving video soon!

  • I have to say that is a fantastic truck

    runs and looks brand new

  • Thanks! Wait until you see the '93 out of the garage!

  • I'm serious it really is a nice truck

my moms company uses E250 extened version

I very fond of the econoline

  • you should make a video of you driving it. it's the best looking '86 i've seen!

  • thanks! the truck looks great in the sun when it's clean. check back in a while, I will be adding more truck videos including driving, soon as it gets a little warmer outside. KF
