  • yep, thats a nice way of footwork, is way faster to make the step with your left leg, than with ur right.

  • Nice boxers :P

  • @TheGuguji i think u get me wrong!im commenting on others comment..

make up ur mind before attacking, get the point n target right..

  • his footwork isnt wrg .. its bcoz his legs r so long he can reach to each corner widout hving 2 move his rite leg XD

  • ofcourse he is right he was a fuckin world champ and maybe he could gain back his title younever know

  • hes so tall. i cant use this...

  • @alstan25 love being tall ;)

  • @alstan25 I believe swie king used to defend like this in certain circumstances and he is short

  • His footwork similar to Split Step used in tennis.

  • Gade is right. He speaks about defense guys.

  • i thought he spoke dutch, it's really similar.

  • how could you say peter gades footwork is wrong? his footwork is perfectly fine

  • huahaha.

    neglects the master's.

just not at the right time dude...

  • @abdonluigi Are you serious?! He is a former world no. 1, winner of all england, european champion, he is a badminton god. He didn't become world number 1 with "wrong footwork" did he? Your footwork is wrong if you think his is wrong.

  • this for-jump he's talking about is basically a split-step, you do a hop, timed so that when you land, the shuttle is being hit, meaning that you can react a little bit faster. so, basically you will be ready for anything.. the little hop is just to get more explosivity, meaning you will react faster and can travel a little more distance if needed.

using this, it's not necessary to step over. IMHO everything is fine, as long you can travel the distance swiftly and effortlessly..

  • the best i could do with that transaltion xD btw L is left and R is right just if you didnt knew..

  • translation In Badminton we primaly work with 6 corners at the net the middle and the back line and the sides ofc what im gonna show you know is the leg work to the defensive back hand line we start at getting low so the center of gravity is the lowest as possible wich gives more balance and gives you a higher change to get out to the sides the legs are also placed so we are rdy to do the for-jump(?) that will send us out to the side the special about this is that i go out on the L leg not R

  • his backhand block is right. usually right handed player will use right leg to def left side smash by other player. but my coach also teach me like that. coz he say direct use left leg move to left side is faster and easier..u all can try..good footwork...

  • ann aiketo

  • verry good.,i will try it later.,good instruction but i can't understand what are you talking about.,wahahaha.,keep in touch.,you are my idol dude.,

  • arent u suppose to swing your right leg over...

  • takes to long

  • no not when smash defending. Only when drop.

  • i don't know if it's me but the court looks smaller. he was probably showing how to do a quick smash block instead of bringing your leg over......OR he might've been nervous. search and watch his single matches to see if he blocks like that. =]

  • I can't understand it but i can make it out :)

  • Very useful even if in Danish. I understand that subtitles are a hassle to make.. so i Want to thank the guy that share that video.. i understand what he means with intonations, gestures and the examples... This is the 21 st century, and Internet is no more Arpanet so every one has the right to use his own mother language..

And i respect Danish .. They are good players and Camilla Martin was one of the reason i came into Badminton... I thought every BM female player would look like her ;-)

  • ouch cant understand .. but he good

  • but with his right leg at the back, can you acheive the distance to the sidelines efficiently???

  • The right leg behind is to be a counter weight to the upper body weight going to the left... It is very close to some movement in Fencing.. If you don't do that you would have to use the muscle in your back (ouch) to come to the receiving postion..

  • me dainish!

  • stop swearing prick

  • gan ni ma??

  • It's Danish ^^

    - Im from denmark too.

Peter ? kan du ikke evt. lave en film om hop smash eller baghånd nede fra baglinjen ?

  • Turkey Poo

  • Danish (: i'm danish! Wohoo :b

  • doesnt seem english to me

  • u tallking strange..wow.. what's that language

  • I own a little brown cherrybox

  • Shouldn't you move your left foot then cross your right foot over when it's backhand defence????????????????????????

  • Peter is showing the footwork to defend against a powerful smash right down the sideline.

Because it's powerful, you can't afford to lose precious time by crossing your right foot over to your left. So the "reverse lunge" is the quickest footwork to return a power smash to the side.

This also allows you to keep facing the net, which would be difficult if you bring your right work all the way over to your left.

  • If your opponent sends the shuttle and it drops a bit more in front of you, or at the net, then of course you have to cross your right leg in front of the left to bring it forward.

    Hope that helps!

  • he is lousy laaa.. come on.. lee chong wei owns!

  • Heck NO! Peter Gade Owns!

  • AYE!

  • he is like the best

  • peter gade is one of the best denmark badminton player

  • come on it from denmark there come he jo from

  • talk da lige ordenlig english man !

  • hahahhahahahaha its danish thats how we speak like :D

  • i dont understand him..is he speaking in tounges?

  • i can't understand subs if any

  • I curious was the explanations are about. But I think this first skip is a parasitic movement, wasting time.

  • I think I heard..peanut butter O_O lol.

  • lol he didnt say peanut butter -.-

Hes saying that theres six cornors in badminton. two in front, two at the middle and two at the backline. Hes also saying that the way he does it there, is the best way to defend the backhand. 9/10

  • the guy is speaking in tounges

  • first post and view!

  • great performed ! ;)
