Try dropping in the White Star Xenon upgrade bulb. Sports 233 lumens as opposed to the 164 lumens you are now getting.

i just got my 6 D cell maglite. I get called by the CHP in the middle of the nite about 30-40 times per year to clear fallen trees off the calif. freeways. Even though my govt. pick up has 2 flood lites. Recently i had to walk a ways down a canyon to see where a tree was "attached" and i decided i needed a hand held lite.

Go to the terralux web site . They have very nice led upgrades for mag Light, Streamlight etc..Best upgrade for the money, there is a 600 and maybe a 700 lumen led for the 6 D Mag, with three power settings. Mins is on the way. terralux.com .

i got my 3d maglite becuz of how late i get out of university, downtown campus, muggings etc are frequent, cant carry a knife on campus for obvious reasons, so this fits perfect in my backpack : P

A 6D maglite modded with a 50W light bulb and 3AA to D adapters give about 1700 lumens, and lasts for over half an hour if high capacity NiMH AAs are used

I hope you know that Maglites is old fashion, and isn't bright at all. The 6D is rated at 169 lumens light strength.. I got a 3 inch flashlight rated at 220 lumens.

you get better control on the swing with a 4D maglite if you really need to crack skulls.

Wouldnt work after beeing run over by a semi? Mine have been tested with a Semi-trailer with 12 cars on it. Of course, it got scratches, but still works perfectly.

For CRACKING skulls i use a Solarforce head with some crazy edges and a Triple XPG drop in, in my Solarfroce L2 host 1300lumens, 4.5 inches and skullcrack.

but you think the length of the 6d cell maglite and the length of the holders arm is more than enough if that person was aproached by a would be mugger to swing and hit the person disorientate them make them think twice about what they were originally gonna do that is if they arent kod on the floor after being hit by the maglite ur 3 inch flashlight and ur arms length aint gonna keep much distance between you and whoever id rather have 4ft than about 2ft maglite rule for self defence purposes

It only is rated at 30,000 Candle power, so.... maybe not a million candela. But that is still frekn' bright.

Part LMSA601 is a Xenon filled bulb for this 6 cell flashlight. It along with 6 new alkaline D cells will make this a good bit brighter than it is now. This flashlight comes with a Krypton filled bulb that's bright but not as bright as the Xenon. They aren't that costly and I recommend giving one a try. ( Maglite LMSA601 Magnum Star ) If you can't find it locally, I've seen them on eBay.

I own a 6 d cell Maglite Red. It may not be the latest and greatest, but I think it's a good value at about $25 for the light it puts out, especially with the xenon upgrade bulb. Plus, because of it's size, it a conversation peice. I enjoyed your youthful enthusiasm over your purchase. Enjoy your 6 d cell maglite and never look back. I wish I would have had one at 14.

If you put a little bit of vaseline on the metal threading of the tailcap your tailcap will be much easier to open. The manuel does say to do that somehwere. I just got the LED maglite mini and it works great except my runtime was only 2-3 hours for some reason.

yes they do have the led upgrade i just purchased a 4-d cell mag-lite and the led upgrade bulb that same bulb fits the 5-d cell and 6-d cell as well
