KK was a true patriot, leader, and visionary. Together with Nyerere, Nkrumah, Kenyata and other leaders from the 1960s and 1970s, he represented genuine hope for an independent, prosperous, post-colonial Africa.
It only took ten years - give or take a few - for this wonderful dream to dissipate and turn to dust. Greed and corruption became the order of the day. Too soon, too soon...
Africa, my beloved Africa, what have they done to you? What have you done to yourself?
You cannot blame it all on our founding father, his successors have been worse than terrible.I will always thank him for our freedom and accommodating other races as one and teaching as the beauty of love. Please do not talk politics if you had that opportunity to breath peace..enjoy the music

i was born in zambia of indian origin and finished my primary school in zambia in the early 70s.this leader was a total idiot and he is the reason zambia is in a mess today,makes you want to cry, today when i look at this beautiful country in such a total mess all because of this guy.wat has he done nothing but laid a foundation for disaster.go my lovely zambia you will always be in my memories and hope you never have leaders like kk.
KK may have messed up a little but be proud that we never went through a civil war or economic strife like our neighbours and others, from angola congo dr & zimbabwe. zambia has welcomed in alot of african citizens, from the indians idi amin kicked out, to south africa's freedom fighters. no one's perfect but we are at peace today because he was bold enough to step down unlike others! Viva KK! its ok if zambia is a memory to you. to us Zambians its ALIVE!
Identity and stability was what forefathers did plus other things. the rest are the responsibilities of incumbent leaders most of whom have lost direction/focus and end up as robbers for lack of progressive ideas; thats why my people while missing the goodness of our forefathers cry out foul and blame they should have done this and that.. they couldnot have solved everything.
This guy was Saddam Hussein's best friend believe it or not.

@julcoh
I remember that night
in your arms
underneath the pagan moon.
Dreaming away on a pillow of palms
as we watched the pagan moon.
Every kiss was a sweet pagan prayer ooooo
to your eyes and your lips and your hair.
And the dawn came a little too soon
as we watched the pagan moon.
