code geass deserved to be 1#. i mean lelouch became the enemy of the world & told suzaku to kill him. what makes it very sad that alot of his good friends dont know that he is a good guy, just listening to the song made me cry. but listening to it & watching the ending really kicked my tears out hard :'( but i know that he is alive which makes it a happy ending...
I dont know if it matters or anything,but the whole thing gave me the feeling that he didnt die(fact,there a person to talk to and its the rider,while his face is invisivle,like they couldnt create a random character face,so it was lelouch).Unless there is a fact that proves something else,thats practicly what the writters want you to believe(that he is alive).But dead would be better,with death he is a legend,but still,to the rest of the characters,he is,a legend,because they think he is dead.

Even if lelouch was alive, the thought of another season would be useless, cuz if the world is all united what more of a plot could you pull out of it? even if they did insert a new plot it'd be uselessly extending this anime far beyond what it needs. so for those who really want a season 3 (even i do) it just wouldn't be a good idea and probably won't happen. :I sorry

As we've seen before in the show the code doesn't activate for real until you "die" (like when Lelouch made his father shoot himself and the nun killed CC which activated their codes). The real proof is when Nunally touches his hand here and gets his memories which only happens if you have the code. So basically Lelouch fakes his death after that and he and CC together travels the world 4ever ^^

I can see why this would be Number one on anyone's top list for saddest anime moments. Not only does the main character die(I'm not convinced that he lived), but he'll forever be known by the world as a tyrant, with only a few people knowing what his actual goal was and what he had to sacrifice to achieve it. IMO, however, Suzuku's fate was slightly worse, having to spend the rest of his life as Zero.

Death of L isn't that sad, because he lived on as N, and completed his task of bringing down Kira, he never really died, he checkmated Light even in his death, that is what earned the show a TON of my respect and admiration, while Lelouch's death is sad because well, he intended to put all hatred on himself and sacrifice everything just to make a world where his sister can live in peace, if you didn't feel anything while watching that scene then your not fucking human.....

Why does everyone think he's alive? You just saw him die. It wasn't all vague like Suzaku's "death". You, literally, saw him die. He died for the world and sacrificed himself to achieve it. He's dead. You didn't see him at the end with CC. It was some guy driving his cart. They didn't once show Lelouch in that scene. Stop trying to make up your own story.
man one of the saddest anime endings I've seen and I've seen alot.brings back memories when I finished watching R2 for the first time.Though really I think he's alive and like said before he's not dead just dead publicly...kinda like suzaku though if I remember his plan made it to where he'd gain immortality and I suppose as a way to see how the effects come,plus if I remember correctly you have to hit a certain point then have someone kill you and give them the geass to gain immortality.

Lelouch's so called "Death" is by far the most tragic yet brilliant ending ever. My perspective is that he's still alive. When he meant he has to die, he meant die as in "publicly" to make people think he's dead. That's why at the ending you see him with C.C.

@TonysTactics I guess you can't sense emotion or power very well then :/ I watched the entire series in English and thought it was outstanding. I even prefer some dialogue better in English (ex: "I destroyed...the world...and created... a new-.... *eyes shut*" is better than "I...destroy..worlds....create...worlds... *eyes shut*", in my opinion (it helps that he didn't finish his sentence). It really made me reflect that "wow, this guy accomplished a lot" whereas the original dub's line didn't).
Look it up on YouTube, doesn't it look like something was cut from the ending? If you can get the unedited episode you'll see who is driving that carriage.

Why does everyone think he's alive? You just saw him die. It wasn't all vague like Suzaku's "death". You, literally, saw him die. He died for the world and sacrificed himself to achieve it. He's dead. You didn't see him at the end with CC. It was some guy driving his cart. They didn't once show Lelouch in that scene. Stop trying to make up your own story.

man one of the saddest anime endings I've seen and I've seen alot.brings back memories when I finished watching R2 for the first time.Though really I think he's alive and like said before he's not dead just dead publicly...kinda like suzaku though if I remember his plan made it to where he'd gain immortality and I suppose as a way to see how the effects come,plus if I remember correctly you have to hit a certain point then have someone kill you and give them the geass to gain immortality.

Lelouch's so called "Death" is by far the most tragic yet brilliant ending ever. My perspective is that he's still alive. When he meant he has to die, he meant die as in "publicly" to make people think he's dead. That's why at the ending you see him with C.C.

@mayanking126 you couldnt feel it because you didnt watch it from beginning. if you watch it from beginning. you will know how hard he strive to save his country and how many burden he have to carried to save everyone until at the end, the country and the people who he save label him as a demon.trust me i watch clannad after story but im still think code geass gave big impact on me. lelouch suffer more pain in a war compare to tomoya who only lost ushio and nagisa but both alive.

The fact that they don't show a grave of SOME sort for Lelouch makes me wanna believe that he's still alive. Even tyrants get some sort of grave.....and Nunally still loved her brother, so as the new Queen, she should get some say in building a grave.

Also an good example of an anti-hero is the "Punisher". The movie is really good, you should watch it.

@TonysTactics I guess you can't sense emotion or power very well then :/ I watched the entire series in English and thought it was outstanding. I even prefer some dialogue better in English (ex: "I destroyed...the world...and created... a new-.... *eyes shut*" is better than "I...destroy..worlds....create...worlds... *eyes shut*", in my opinion (it helps that he didn't finish his sentence). It really made me reflect that "wow, this guy accomplished a lot" whereas the original dub's line didn't).
