  • I think that guy at the 2:24 is the security or staff or something like...

  • was this from colchestern ontario?

  • Lucky bastards!

  • That crowd was the prototypical metal audience. Just a few short years later, people jumped like that for Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. AC/DC: blazing trails since 1974.

  • nope, England of course! read the description ;) Essex University, 1978

  • was this colchester ontario canada?

  • Malcom is beating the crap out of that Gretsch, best rhytmn guitar player ever!

  • Loud and Pure! These are words we live by when writing and performing. Combining modern rock with the stylings of those who paved the golden road, including Angus Young, EVH and more! • Simply Fantastic!!!

  • i dont have a mouse cause without realising it i was beating it on desk to the rhythm of Rocker.....

  • I need a timemachine

  • Malcolm Young is the business . Don't believe me? 3:00

  • @esubadog I believe you dude. Malcolm fucking kicks ass! Fucker is one of the greatest rhythm guitarists in the history of rock! People totally overlook him, but ACDC fans know he's fucking AWESOME!

  • That dude at the 4 min mark was going for it in the crowd...haha

  • FUCK!!!! I NEED A TIME-MACHINE.

  • what the heck is the guy in the corner doing at minute 2: 24, creep!

  • @jesereyes dude, what the fuck man? That dude is looks like he's feeling up the chick in front of him and possibly doing something else with the other....so nasty

  • just did a duckwalk for 6 minutes xD it's like "Shake a leg" O.o

  • Review pt.4. Scott said the TV cameras put a psychological as well as a physical barrier between them and the crowd, but the TV coverage, so scarce for rock in this country, was well worth the sacrifice.

“We were not really giving a rock show to a paying audience and I doubted whether we were getting an honest response. It was very much a compromise.”

It may have been a compromise, but judging by the audience’s response, it was worth it, if only just.”

    Steve Munson.

  • Review pt.3. AC/DC, an Australian based band, played with competent arrogance, their raw and somewhat vicious rock full of fast blast and frighteningly loud.

Scott added novelty to the occasion by giving the star of the show, lead guitarist Angus Young, a shoulder ride through the crowd.

Malcolm Young, Angus’s brother, on guitar, Phil Rudd on drums and Cliff Williams on base (sic) kept very much in the background during what seemed a two-man show.

  • Review pt.2. The programme is called Rock Goes To College, and so it did and went down very well for the few heavy metal diehards present among the 700-strong crowd, but I have my reservations. OK, so many of the audience were bopping about even before the band had belted out the thumping bass intro to their second number Live Wire. But I was destined to hear an annoying repetition of guitar rifts (sic), so that by the middle of the concert I felt as if I’d heard it all before.

  • This gig was on Wednesday 25 Oct '78... XTC played on the 28th.

Review pt.1. COLCHESTER EVENING GAZETTE – FRIDAY 27th OCTOBER 1978

“AC/DC – NO SHOCKS AND ONLY MILDLY ELECTRIFYING”

“BBC Television came to Essex University, AC/DC came from Paris, rock came to college and I wondered whether it was all worth it.

A five-piece heavy metal rock band, AC/DC interrupted their 14-day European tour to play a concert at Essex University that will go out nationwide on BBC2 at 11.45 next Friday.

  • can you feel the energy of this song??i don't know but it gives you an urge to break everything that's on your way...!

  • @ka8isterimeno all the AC DC Bon Scott´s song hane this energy for sure

  • @marcos54774 of course man!that's because bon scott's super voice fills everyone with this energy..;)

  • Will someone please hurry up and invent time travel! This gig is where I am going to. Who is coming with me?

  • @TheHintonator I´m going with no doubt ...

  • i miss ronald ähh bon^^

  • My uncle was here!

  • fuck me how good live

  • Holy Crap-it's like the legendary old Agora in Cleveland mixed with Pirates' Cove---small hall with pillars!

Those pillars could do some damage if the crowd got a bit out of hand

  • guaaaaaaaaaaaaaataa!!!!!!!!!! dan ganas de matar

  • This is so fucking to the point...!

  • how i wish i was there

  • Get that puff off that girl at the front security !!!!

  • Angus Young for the muddafuckin president!!!!!!!!!!

  • "For all those here tonight who like rock and roll."

  • WOW! The solos are so clean and PERFECT!!

  • Most of those idiots in the crowd didn't even realize Angus was out there among them! Lol. There just staring at the stage "Where'd 'ee go?"

  • The Spanish Rock band, Mojinos Escocios, make a "Trese", listen it please, This song is very similar.

  • this rocks brilliantly - 12 bar boogie hard bangin rock at it's best - they were bloody genius back then - and oh my god look at Bon, the true rock and roll star!!!!!

  • i dance to this song every night

  • Hammer Geil

  • OK ACDC are still pretty good with Brian Johnson, of course there is some great albums there,BUT, the fire went out of their music when Bon died, and they haven't been the same. When Moneytalks or thunderstruck come on the radio I turn it fast.

  • Chuck Berry would`ve given his left ball to join this band. Possibly.

  • i think when bon died , a little peice of angus died to. he was more rock n roll back then. now he is more bluesy.

  • @coolwithit99 It's hard NOT to go straight for the throat when you're backing Bon Scott. The only man who Ozzy bows down to.

  • @HagusYoung Brian Johnson sure he is a great replacement but he is nothing in the same league as Bon Scott....Brain Johnson jumped into the spotlight and ran with it.

  • Sick solos lol :D

  • oh my god,amiguitos del r´n´r!!!

  • ROCK!

  • these peope there, who watched acdc live with bon scott,,,they didnt know HOW LUCKY THEY WERE!

  • @4juventinos My uncle was there.. and sadly he said he did not enjoy it... (he was a piano scholar). I convinced him how lucky he was and how awesome they were aswell!

  • @4juventinos i was lucky enough to see Bon Scott perform a few times at the Mayfair Newcastle, fantastic gigs! i think i lost about a stone in weight at each concert lol

  • @4juventinos I can see a few people at the front that seems to be aware

  • my friend Paula was at this gig - the real deal, classic. She lost her valuable watch jumping up and down, wasn't bothered in the least.

  • Most fun band ever

  • FUCK.... i wish i was there.....

  • @newliam5 i was there

  • This is sooooo cool. What a band - never let you down

  • Comment removed

  • AC/DC is the beast!

  • Comment removed

  • Angus could easily out energize the energizer rabbit haha!

  • @8484terry no kiding lol:-)

  • Pure fucking genius. Worship ACDC. They will never let you down.

  • How fucking good is this???!!!!

  • @bandslater

i remember coming home from the record convention with a VHS bootleg copy of the show that I had bought for about $30...say about 1985...man that was a long bus ride...then popping it into the vcr...as soon as they kicked in i realized i had a the video for the "Trip Wires" vinyl bootleg that i had and i knew it was gonna be fucking good...that trip wires boot is one of their best...i still have both the vhs and the vinyl

  • @holidayhouse03 I have the same story! I've got "Trip Wires" and a bootleg video ("Rock Goes to College") of this performance. I still have both of them too!!

  • @gregaroo329

i sold some of my vinyl on ebay a few years ago but will keep both those forever. the trip wires boot is the best boot i have ever heard other than maybe that show in nashville, i forget the name, but i never had that on vinyl

i also still have an "original" red vinyl "live '76", bon scotts last oui oui, electric shock and some others...i dig them out sometimes and play them on my cheap turntable from target that is not nearly loud enough

  • His guitar is on fire!!!!!!!!! This is serius rock n` roll on higest level!!

  • God damn his vocals are amazing, i love Brian Johnson, but Bon Scotts vocals are just down right nasty, in a good way. I wonder where the band would be today if he was still alive.

  • Did anyone really listen to the bass playing by Cliff in this song? Don't you think he really goes off in this song like no other. Just listen to the bass you could tell he is underrated after hearing this.

  • IT'S ONLY ROCK N' ROLL.......BUT I FUCKIN' LOVE MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE!

  • Gives me goose bumps

  • Whoever says that Brian Johnson made AC/DC a harder rock band has yet to listen to this song. I love Brian's vocals, don't get me wrong, but there's just no other like BON SCOTT. AC/DC FOR FUCKING EVER!!!

  • GREAT SMOKIN' SADDLEBAGS!!!

you say lady gaga - i say def leppard

you say emenem - i say CCR

92% of teenagers have turned to hip-hop and pop, if ur part of the 8% that like to head bang and disturb the peace, copy this message and past it to an other video. DONT LET THE SPIRIT OF ROCK DIE!!!!

  • @ebren13 your so right man. bang your head. As the old good quiet riot said,

''Bang your head! Metal Health'll drive you mad''

  • @embrioniccrow Your so right to, AC/DC FUCKING RULE

  • AC/DC the greatest rock band ever! Is and will be the best.

  • AC/DC forever !!!

  • This was on Wed 25 Oct... XTC played on the 28th... and NO i'm not the blond boy being humped at the end of the stage!

  • 01:20 -> sick... :)))

  • Best rock band of all time. No one comes close. They play rock music like no-one else! Awesome.

  • I just love malcolms rythem playing!

  • I love it!

  • Just love the bit at 4.19 when they all really start kicking in again.

  • I went there yesterday and saw where they played! :D I go to Essex Uni.

  • Can any of you guitar lovin', Angus lovin' people tell me or link me to the answer to these questions?? What exercises does Angus use and what scales/ modes does he use?

I've seen a lot of interviews with the guys and they NEVER ask that... I don't get it lol.

    Cheers and Awesome upload.

  • @Nacnueed

Search for 'Solodallas' on youtube he is the man when it comes to Ac/Dc, he has many lessons and looks into Angus's technique. I promise you, you will not find anyone better. =)

  • @lgop2nopz yeah i'm already subscribed... maybe I just still suck at guitar lol. Thanks

  • @Nacnueed Pentatonic Minor Blues scale & chromatic , usually in key of E and A

  • @Thriplebuttix thanks I haven't looked at the chromatic, I'll try it!

  • What a sausge fest. That boy in the white shirt with the guy in the beard behind him with his hands in his pockets feeling him up. I feel sorry for him. He's NOT having a good time.

  • @aurzada Its cause its a posh / Preppie area of England for kids with rich family

  • HAIL HAIL ROCK n ROLL!

  • Bon Scott RIP!!!! You are the king!!! Great voice!

  • 95% of teenagers would kill themselves if the Jonas Brothers were about to jump off a building. Copy and Paste this onto your channel if you are one of the 5% who would yell "Jump!"

  • 12 bar blues. Best thing to solo to ever. If your starting to play guitar, practise to this.

  • @JamleSalisbury damn right!!!!

  • @guirang94 Haha, so do you play guitar? Another goos song to practise to is the jack. (Theres a version without the lead guitar).

  • dide in the turban @ 5:36 LOL .

The were rocking out my friend. thank you come again.

  • Rocker is my favorite song ever. Three chords and the truth!

  • Oh sweet Lord, this has kicked my butt with such great might that I'm all bruised now. As far as I'm concerned, Malcolm the Riffmaker, Angus the Best-Fucking-Showman Among Guitar Players and Bon with his signature voice were the best musical trio in the history of rock and roll ever.

  • 1:49-2:05 bon lovin what he does best. rock on bon!!!!!

  • These people have no idea how lucky they are to get that close to AC/DC and especially Bon Scott.

  • @pipbottle @pipbottle true these small gigs are awesome bon at hes finest..have you seen .(.rocker acdc live AMAZING PERFORMANCE ANGUS YOUNG.).take a look its awesome small crowd whose half a sleep but the gig rolls .........

    bons a beast xx

  • This is pure rock 'n' roll...

  • ...But.....I have to say...Thank you BJ!..You saved Angus, Mal and the band and did a great job filling those shoes!!

  • I remember back in'79 when "highway" came out. The only AC/DC album I had before that was Powerage... I thought Bon had the COOLEST voice, man. Then after he died, I begrudgingly bought Back in Black just 'cause I was curious. I played it once....Then I couldn't listen to it anymore..cause it didn't seem right w/o Bon...So I bought every other album w/Bon while Back in Black just sold and sold..It pissed me off!..I was afraid people would forget Bon.But 30 years later people listen and LEARN!

  • @92Redstrat You have a point, but because of Brian, AC/DC is still touring to this day! Bon would have wanted it that way.

  • @NOLA191788 emm you have a point yes..however take brian out of the band and you still have a band he IS replaceable...take angus out of the band and you have nothing... BON was awesome and indeed he picked brian which was ironic...

  • @92Redstrat Thunderstruck was my first song. After that I started to buy all the other AC/DC CD's. And yes, Bon was way better than Brain is. Had a huge Bon Scott poyster hanging on my bedroom wall. I think sometimes it's okay to love a man when you are a man yourself :D

  • @92Redstrat Bon Scott is the ONLY reason I like AC/DC

  • Probably the most rockin song of all times. Gives me the shivers every time. Thank God for Rock ´n Roll.

    Regards from Göteborg, Sweden

  • 100% ROCK N'ROLL FURIA !!!!

  • @pipbottle

What would i give? I give up my first born son for the opportunity to see Bon sing again...infact, i'd throw in my wife and her mother just to sweeten the deal.

  • @pipbottle lol....good one old mate, thanks for the laugh !!!! They also gave the world '' unit 731'' ( for those who are not familiar with ''unit 731'' Youtube it...it'll freak you out !!)

  • @pipbottle

I think you'll find the laws surrounding the responsible service of alcohol might make handing out free grog theses days a bit of a long shot. ......

  • drives the tears in my eyes...

  • your absolutly right Bon Scott is the King of all Rock voices.R.I.P

  • The best rock voice ever!

    5/5.

  • no one can recreate Bons voice

  • j'arrive pas bien a voir ce qu'est fixé sur la SG d'Angus, mais ca m'etonne qu'en 78 il est un emmeteur pour la guitare !!!!

  • bon, only bon... RIP... 30 years now :(

  • I agree 100% with cptmifune

  • R.I.P Bon

  • the best ac/dc songs are sung by bon scott. i'm not saying that brian johnson is a bad singer, but c'mon, Bon is the sh*t!

  • @cptmifune

  • were can you go to see a performance like this today? " nowere" ,,,,, true rockers...

  • Saw them three times in the last year man! Not with Bon of course... but these guys STILL rock hard and just put out a kick ass album last year!

  • one of the best guitarists and the best frontman ever! No one comes close to Bon Scott's vocals Period! Just downright primal & nasty!

  • theres something about that raspy shrill scream that was half scream half growl that no one can ever match

  • He's got the right balance! not too low! not too high! just right

  • greatest!! ac/dc!!

  • this is wicked badass!!!

  • what about the guy at 2.23...looks a bit suspect dont you think?!
