I have this exact gun, same barrel, shooting it one handed is tough, the thing is so front heavy and just heavy that its hard to hold steady however, when held steady the gun is dead on accurate, at $3-$4 a round its pricey to shoot

every time I pull this thing out and fire it everyone at the shooting range stops what they are doing and looks around like, "what the hell was that"?

However, it's $17,000 not including the optional gold inscription and and gold plated hammer, and the bullets are about $40 each. So unless you're truly a fan of overkill, you'd best get the S&W.

@rettek808 Are you kidding? Using it for protection? From what a grizzly bear? These guns are used for hunting big game or just for the novelty of having the baddest handgun around. Its by no means a practical self defense weapon. A .45ACP or 9mm will kill you just as dead as a .500 but you will carry more bullets (15 vs just 5) and you will be able to focus on the target, rather than fighting the heavy recoil with each shot.

I shoot in competition since 1986, so yes, I am VERY familiar with handguns.

Why using 500s&w mag indoor is a bad idea:

1. reverberation against walls magnify that HUGE detonation: deafening for shooter, distracting for everyone else.

2. the steel traps behind the targets are usually not certified above the 44mag (outdoor places have packed dirt/sand buttress).

3. what's the point of shooting a 550m/s ammo in a 7,5in gun at only 25m? Useless!!

Try 50m-200m for a challenge!
