If they run like on this video then people can get trampled, injured or possibly killed. A few weeks ago i was in a 2nd floor movie theatre when a powerful quake hit and i did exactly what i just described. Also, you should see how the Japanese respond to earthquakes, they are the most calm and sensible of any quake region
