  • one of the best films ever made?? i wanted to leave the theatres while watching this crap. cassavetes made such a big deal about this womans "crisis". - just remember when you're watching this film again that children in poverty-stricken countries are dying of preventable diseases and hunger. So fuck off with this drama shit!!

  • As a tribute to master Cassavetes I did Czech subtitles for this movie. I can´t stop watching it. I can watch it any time always finding new nuances, details that amaze me. Thank youi.

  • Gena Rowlands merece 10 Oscars de uma vez por este filme! E Cassavetes é realmente um genio. Se ele fosse europeu, seria famoso.

  • superbe immortelles lignes

  • anyone knows what this piano song at the end is ? can't seem to find any information about a soundtrack for this film :(

  • @LicoriceWarrior Bo Harwood often worked with Cassavetes. Unfortunately, most of this work remains unavailable on CD.

  • When I saw this film..it blew me away. Rowlands and Cassavetes had the perfect artistic partnership. The film honestly dpeicts what actresses and some actors experience as they grow older. One of my favorite films.

  • agreed! THE BEST!!!

  • rest in peace and God bless him one more time. It's always such a thrill to watch Cassavetes movie - no matter which. They are all full of emotions and true feelings. The reality in his universe is beyond the common-day reality.

  • for my opinion.....a great film about actors and actresses......stage fright......and so much more...

    god bless John Cassavetes

  • what a genius! The man justifies the millions of mediocre herd-men that must be born before we can have one Cassavetes.

  • Wow. That is honestly one of the most true and well-stated comments on Cassavetes I've ever read.

  • Nothing self-indulgent about this masterpiece...

  • One of the best films ever made!

  • That and A Woman Under the Influence. On eof the greatest filmmakers...

  • And Husbands too.

  • John. Cassavettes. Worked his ass off.

  • good point bootpig1...I have an affair with Cassavettes like Altman...brillianace mixed with self-indulgence..but I'll take that anytime over what we have now...

  • That opening long shot as part of a trailer??? You wouldn't get away with that today. Hence, has anybody seen one film all this year that could honmestly rival the originality and complexities of "Opening Night." Not me - and I've seen something like 70 films in the theater this year.

  • This is not a trailer - it's the beginning of the film. That stage scene happens right before the opening credits.
