MsKnight, my friend, you talk about Terabytes as if you were talking about peanuts... If I'm right, in this server you've got 3 x 1.5 TB HD of storage INSIDE the machine plus 3 x 1.5 TB HD outside, connected via USB. And there are viewers who say it's not much for a server... To me, 9 TeraBytes of space is more than a lot..if U think that just a few years ago, a standard PC HD was 200 MB (MegBytes!!).
Maybe 9 TB are not alot for MI5 or NASA, but for a SOHO server, IMHO, is more than enough
@gio70v A very good point. I believe things in the home will change, however. I'll make a video on this in the near future; it is too much to type here.
I thought it was the memory limit on 32 bit, not the HDD size. The main difference between 32 bit and 64 bit is the ram limitation being up to 3gb on 32bit, whilst 64bit can support up to 12tb* of ram.
@iTat1000 what you refer to is the Operating system's limitation... if you use Windows 32 bit then only 3gb max of memory will be used whereas on 64 bit windows you can use say 8gb of RAM provided the software actually uses it :)
32 bit and 64 bit processors are a whole different thing.. please check Wikipedia if you have any doubts to clarify.
@johnno666 It will grow over time. Currently there are three 2tb in there and that will be expanded to three 3tb when the prices drop a little more. I'm in no rush.
@itsahod Pounds. Money. Dosh. Moular. Folding stuff. I'm in Great Britain. You might want to research the names of different countries currencies, or send an e-mail to your school and ask them to introduce a fifteen minute education slot in to their lessons to teach people about the basic units of other countries.
i am new to this server business i would like someone to tell me with a video to how to build a home server from scratch and the equipment used and how to connect it please u can send me the link at (hotboysheldon@yahoo.com) thank you very much.

Amps are not characterized by power.
XTYNoLuck 6 months ago
@XTYNoLuck Watts are amps * volts. If volts are constant, then amps are a perfectly valid way to calculate power consumption and compare devices.

*I need to check out if that is true. :)

Amps is not a measure of power only a measure of electrical current. Watts are used for measuring power

Hi Folks,
Yes, I do need some order inside the box ... it might get it .. one day :-)
Mizka, Apologies but what I meant was that getting a PCI expansion card is cheaper than having to buy a new motherboard/processor/ram combination.
As the current motherboard was short of SATA ports, the PCI card was a cheaper option for me.
Hope that helps clear up what I was trying to explain.
These days, I've gone over to Viddler and I'm starting to use an auto-cue, so I don't fluff my lines again :-)

Thanks Michelle, I just noticed you are currently making a complete series on building a home server system.
I am currently contemplating doing something similar in my home so your series comes just at the right exact time here.
5/5 for the first part!
