I didn't get it at first. All I saw was the bike ahead and the camera bike riding at a nice, moderate pace, and I was wondering, "Is the camera bike a cruiser and he's going to pass that 'slow' sport-tourer in front?" And then it all made sense when they both came up on that rolling roadblock...
I don't see the sportbike in this video... and yeah, cruisers are made for cruising. If there was a sportbike in this video you'd only have seen him for a a couple moments and then you wouldn't have again. Period
Ride a cruiser if you don't want to be able to have the agility and defensive capability of a sportbike either because you have a death wish, are too fat to ride a real bike or just suck.
Enjoy all bikes from supersports to the heavy cruisers, loved the Buells with the older engines for some reason, RIP ; ;. People need to relax and try and figure out why they're so pissed off at other peoples choice of machine.
@LGenVision your logic fails .... reality and what you think are two totally different things. get off youtube and go ride your own bike for 20 years, then come back and call your self an expert ...
sportbike vs cruiser, agreed, two totally diffrent bikes, the vrod and buell however, fair game. I run a slightly mod Busa just under 200hp, post that race on youtube.
And the Vrod has 120 hp tops, and is teice as heavy as a liter bike, my bike is 180hp and twice as light as Vrod, I don't even have to downshift to destroy the vrods lol
Did this moron just say the cruisers are faster in a straight line, fucking idiot by the time the baddest cruiser the yamaha warrior 1800 vtwin hits 80 I will be doing 160 on a zx10r
The cruisers are not built for any kind of speed, how do you think a cruiser handles at 150+ mph
These comments are really funny... such childishness. Nope, cruisers don't perform like sport bikes (and a pickup truck doesn't perform like a Ferrari: thanks, Captain Obvious). They're two different bikes with two different styles for two different kinds of riders. Man... if you don't like a bike, don't ride it... get on your own bike (whatever style it may be), ride your own ride, and STFU!
cruiser faster in a straight line? are you kidding? oh wait your not an expert so dont post your opinion pls. I have 20+yrs riding and have ridden pretty much everything and no a cruiser wont beat it in a line/curve etc. Sportbikes are built for speed and going fast. Cruiser is called a cruiser for what it does. Cruise.
I have had 2 cruisers (one was a harley) and 1 sportbike, the first cruiser was the best, but my sportbike is close to as combortable and warmer and more fun IMO.
im prretty sure that sport bike is a v-strom 1000. They handle turns way better than most sport/super bikes but they are pretty slow for 1000cc. 220-240km max. lots of low end torque though.
Rode my Sport bike VFR 800 Calgary to Sturgis and back...11h in a day...lets see you do that on your cruiser... or like 80% of cruisers do you trailer it?
In one day i stopped 3 times to help fix a Harley on the side of the road, good thing i carry a toolkit.
Are you saying it's more comfortable to ride a sportbike than a cruiser? From what I know, that would surprise me a lot. 11 hours is definitely a feat on either one, but I'd be a lot more surprised to see a sportbike do it.
To be fair it is a sport touring bike, not a supersport like some sports.
It was a reply to the fact that some say sport bikes can't go far.
Riden with many cruisers(lets face it the cruiser demographic toures more than the sport)and people that have riden my bike have found it comfortable..it is simply diffrent. Also not all cruisers can cruise, the no windshield, small tank, vibrate your arse numb bikes are not cruisers.
For me it is more comfortable, but i would not tour with a passaneger
I should have been more clear. In cornering performance, no, but some cruisers (call them sport cruisers if you like) like the VROD can out run a lot of sport bikes, not all, but a lot. The super bikes, probably not.

@SummersScottX It's a Triumph, there's a difference. They're actually built to go around a corner.

Also the bike in the vid is not a true sport bike as illistrated by his more upright possition. Still sporty thus the sport touring classification.
Molsan 3 years ago
Thanks for the clarifications. Still, I would probably argue that on AVERAGE, cruisers might be better suited for touring than sport bikes.
Touring bikes naturally out to be supreme, though. ;)
fashnek 3 years ago
Yeah, lets see how long you last touring on that sportbike for a few hundred miles.
