That was the norm. I don't know anyone who came within a minute of their PR at the Games. My time was more than two minutes off my PR. It was more then just the pullups, though. The strict adhernence to form on the Thrusters,and in general, made you put a little bit more thought and energy into each rep.
Either way you guys are beasts. Much respect! The average Joe does not realize how many grueling workouts it takes to achieve this, not to mention the strict dedication to diet. Good on ya...
I don't know if I'd say 'strict pull-up form', it's just a different standard having chest to bar (e.g. clavicle down) versus chin over bar, getting those extra few inches takes more energy.
