Born and grew up in the heart of The Liberties Meath St. Fished in the Grand Canal basin ( The Naller) and The Green for the "ginkers" lived in Marrowbone Lane flats. Loved every second of this video except first few where the Millionaire beggar is up to his usual tricks. He is an absolute disgrace to the people who were born and rared in this precious place. Thanks for this video
Thanks for the comment on the poem , glad you loved it can relate to it...nearly everyone of a particular age group can because it was what we did..... all good clean innocent fun and adventure ...I was reared on the outer limits of the liberties just off Camden St behind the De Luxe Cinema ....AHHH sure them were the days ....All the best , Pat
i loved the poem and the music brought back my happy childhood memories my grandparents took me to dublin every year for my holidays then we travel to mayo happy days
That's great. I was overcome with nostalgia as it described my own childhood to a T. I grew up in Finglas & it was just as much fun back then. We never scutted carts but plenty of lorrys. We were mad back then yet none of us never fell off or got hurt. The Saturday morning pictures at the Casino were real fun as much as taunting the dreaded usherettes, some of them were right fearsome. Stuart.
I'm from Ballyfermot and have been living abroad for 22 years. This video has not only brought back many fond memories but I can share these with my children. Your Dublin accent was great to hear after all these years. You have no idea how much this little video means to the many of us who had to leave. Thanks.
It is lovely Pat. I used to catch tadpoles where I lived in Suffolk UK, in the pond next door to us. I am 59 now, but I was about 7/8 then. Kids don't do that now do they.
Bingo it takes me back....this one is a memory tapper...where did the pics come from ... well put in order with the story. with more of this we'll never forget whatsisname

Beautiful. Very poignant though. I remember collecting tadpoles as a child in the early 80's but it's against the law now to so do.
