  • @fwtios στην κηδεία μου αυτό θα παίζει κι εμένα!

  • For anyone interested, the pianist playing this one is Claudio Arrau :)

  • @ReubenD99 Is it really Arrau?

  • @tsvetkovprelude Yes, I just double checked. I played it from Itunes against this one and they are in sync. exactly the same rubato, nails tapping the keys, same playing time etc etc

  • @ReubenD99 Grande Arrau.

  • why the hell does high F get played twice at 1:42? its tied...

  • @brianbernsteintv cant you say that nicely?

  • @mwartdt

    sorry about that

  • @brianbernsteintv yes you're right.... hm maybe its his own interpretation?! strange

  • @brianbernsteintv Chopin's music often had some degree of liberty when it came to holding vs. restriking notes, as evidenced by variations in notation within or across different manuscripts. Arrau uses this to great effect in the Barcarolle.

  • @JoEbYX

I hear what you're saying, but he doesn't do it anywhere else in the piece... when you follow the score exactly and then do ONE thing different, it looks more like an error than a stylistic choice. Believe me, I know I'm nitpicking this waaay too much, it's an excellent performance, I just found it curious :)

  • @brianbernsteintv the great Arrau does not make an error like that in a piece such as this.. in my opinion it must be a stylistic choice :)

  • this piece gives me chills...in a very good way. happy halloween everyone!!!!

  • I think this piece would be improved with a steadier tempo - the tempo swings are interesting, but no more. They give no intrigue or beauty to the piece.

  • This piece is played very well. I am actually using it for reference as I learn how to play it. The only problem with it is that between measures 26 and 27 that F is supposed to be tied. Maybe it was nerves. Other wise it was very beautiful.

  • @123papafrita

hello, if you could send me the link , it would be very nice, because i can't find the music sheet anywhere.

    Thanks

  • @123papafrita

hello, can you give me the link, because i can't find it anywhere and i really like this song

    thanks

  • The run at 1:56 is beautiful , great piece.

  • Ok, my previous link doesn't seem to work! :( If you go to the websites home page and then type in the search bar 'Chopin Nocturne No. 21 in C', which will take you to a list - click on the first one by the user 'Piupianissimo'. It's well worth looking at 'Piupianissmo's' profile as they've so many pieces from the major classical composers! I hope that this has been helpful! :)

  • Here's the link for the sheet music if anyone's interested! :)

  • This was the first Chopin nocturne I learned, and one of my favorites. It's just a gorgeous piece. Then again, what Chopin piece isn't? Lol

  • Somebody knows whose interpretation is this? I'd really like to know.

  • @Jumpmanmauro obviously Claudio Arrau, search "Chopin - Nocturno en do menor Op Postumo" or with "Arrau" included.

  • 大家好 good 好聽 很好的曲子 謝解

  • How could this be one of the least known?

  • @tonymusicrocks because this is one of the best ones chopin has.. but that also includes all his work.. that is the best ;)

  • one of my favourite nocturnes

  • who played?

  • @harriethtw obviously Claudio Arrau, search "Chopin - Nocturno en do menor Op Postumo" or with "Arrau" included.

  • Does somebody know where I can find the sheet music...?

  • @MissEwilan theres a web sight called freescores where you can dl alot of public domain music like this. there are many other web sights that are free as well if you just google free piano sheet music you can usually find the piece youre looking for at no or little cost and print it out on your pc

  • @dragontooth81 Thank you, I searched everywhere, I didn't find... I found other pieces to play ^^

  • @dragontooth81 google IMSLP and you shall be amazed :)

  • OMG I didn't knew this one. I thought there were only 20 nocturnes. Who is the pianist ? It makes me cry ! It's amazing. I want to play it ^_^

  • cuts off about a 3 seconds too early; let that last note ring next time!

  • thanks this one is very helpful, Sir !! Great warm in music.

  • Chopin never called this "nocturne"

  • @newFranzFerencLiszt This piece does possess a lot of nocturne elements... I don't like this performance though. Bad dynamics, tone abd interpertation, and too much rubato IMO.

  • a fly stepped on the dislike button

  • @Saintbalor nobody gives a shit about your dislike button comments dipshit

  • @insertbadname aww, and you cared enough to reply ;D

  • beautiful..

  • Does anyone know where I can find the sheet music

  • It's wonderful to feel the night through Chopin's music.

  • Real music.

  • yay thanks :P i have to play this piece in i have troble doing the harder parts :P

  • dis is sik bringz back mmrz

  • it reminds me of a cold winter in europe, watching out the car door as millions of snow flakes fall upon my car window and upon the village in which I'm traveling in.

  • i LOVE PLAYING THIS NOCTURNE!!!!!!!!!!

  • Chopin just hits all the right notes! So lovely with dark tones...

  • almost done learning this piece :)

  • C minor is one of my favorite keys, great song.

  • @snakeblob isn't a c minor just a b?

  • @Toiletclottingpoop

No, you're thinking of C flat, thats the same as B. C minor has 3 flats, it is the same as E flat Major, but the root note in C minor is the 6th scale degree(C) of E flat Major.

  • @snakeblob me too, check the name ;) so many pieces i love are in c minor. there's something special about it :)

and love this nocturne. as a group they're probably my favourite pieces for piano

    xx

  • @keyofcminor69

I agree, the nocturnes are beautiful, I wish I could play them all on piano>.< I like just about anything that is Chopin or Scriabin:) E flat minor is also one of my favorite keys.

  • @snakeblob i like too

    :)

¿Arthur Rubinstein, tal vez? Gracias por difundirlo.

  • I wonder what Chopin didn't like about this piece to prevent its publication. I think it is perfectly gorgeous. I can't listen too it enough. Yundi Li has recorded it and does a wonderful job with it.

  • hello, does anyone know who plays this rendition in this particular video? Thanks! :)

  • Imagine Chopin apparently found these works not worth publishing, I understand he explicitly forbid it. Sometimes disobedience is a good thing.

  • Isn't this song from slayer...

  • @ThaKillaToAll Reminds me of Slayer too...

  • WHO THE #@$% DISLIKED THIS???

    Shameful...

  • @PSaunMusic Lets find him and burn him and then spread his ashes on a piano made from the bones of his children and play this song on the keys made from their teeth

  • @PoirePerry

Sounds like a good idea to me! Haha.

  • @PSaunMusic :O......I'll get started with Google :P

  • I can´t download this video =(

  • Thanks for the sheet music *-*

    Did you buy the songbook?

  • this is the last piece I played in Music school... hundreds years ago :))))

Anyway, I can still play it... and I do, sometimes... I love it deeply...

    Thanks for uploading...

  • This is brilliant!!! Why have I not heard this sooner?? It's just another testament to Chopin's genius. This man was truly a great composer.

  • modulation at 1:06 oooooooooooooooo kills me every time...

  • Thankyou for posting the sheet music - I really appreciate it as my Urtext copy of this composition has virtually no dynamics, your posted copy has plenty of detail -a great help in my studies - thanks again. Who is the pianist?

  • You know, you see the notes on the page, and you think, yeah this is easy to play. WRONG. Its not. Because there's so little complexity there, its got to be spot on. Its not easy

  • Is this an early piece of his? Compared to his other stuff this is extremely simple harmonically

  • "I must tell you I take terrible risks. Because my playing is very clear, when I make a mistake you hear it. If you want me to play only the notes without any specific dynamics, I will never make one mistake. Never be afraid to dare." - Vladimir Horowitz

  • at god’s biding wrote he this nocturne

  • i love this peice, pretty much all of the polock's work is amazing. RIP

  • chopin <3

  • The ending is cut off too quickly, in my opinion.

  • This is my favorite nocturne...played it once, was my best piece ever.

  • I love this rendition best! :)

  • Anybody have the sheet of this nocturne? Thank you so much

  • Just lovely.

and yes, at 1:41 the not tied. I looked in different books, they all shown tied.

However, it doesn't matter how he/she played it here; just lovely in my book.

  • fanastyczny numer

  • Beautiful music, beautiful interpretation. Who's the pianist?

  • Could anyone please send me this piano sheet?

    Thanks

    milol33(arobas)yahoo(point)fr

  • The more I try to compose, the more I appreciate the simple beauty of the nocturnes. My melodies are usually twice as complex but not even half as musical and heart breaking. They say he usually conceived an entire piece in one flash of inspiration during, say, a walk.

    ridiculous.

    marvelous.

  • @dasklavierleben I suffer the same problem, however on top of that I also lack the ability to harmonize my best melodies. Sometimes I even manage to get a harmony going but suddenly no melody to go over it. It's not fair how some people can easily write down what they hear in their heads but some, like me, cannot. Thus while I love Chopin for his works I also hate him for doing it all so effortlessly.

  • @Zodiarkz In regards to writing down what you hear in your head: I know someone who has perfect pitch and he can write down whatever he hears in his head but he has no soul so his pieces are emotionless. The best thing I can do (as well as you) is to endlessly drill interval ear training and the related training for harmonies. I've been practicing for weeks and it's still a slippery language for me to speak haha

  • @dasklavierleben so he's a vampire or demon?

  • @blondebearsipl no, he's a narcissist who was born privileged and lords it over everyone else. As close to 'no soul' as people get in the modern world.

  • @dasklavierleben Yeah, nocturnes are really hard just to play, let alone write. I think the simpler, the better, though.

  • there is some kind of undescribable touch of sadness to this tune everytime i hear this

  • the melody just dances throughout the entire tune...gorgeous!!!!

  • Who performes? Wery good

  • @bobon47 YEAH-- who DOES perform this piece? please tell.

  • @SergeiItzamCoiot

    Arthur rubenstein

  • Wow! That piece is AMAZING with a capital A!

  • The Part 0:00 - 0:05 sounds like the begin melody of another classic. I think Beethoven. Anybody knows what I mean?

  • amazing

  • CHOPIN THE POET such mastery and form its all logical, its like science with emotions

  • 1:41 - isn't that note tied? a very languid but excellent piece .

  • @AvidHobbyist Yes it should be tied.

  • @AvidHobbyist i was wondering the same thing -- though i'm no expert

  • @AvidHobbyist Around 3:04 the same pattern comes up but is played as written. Chalk it up to creative liberty.

  • Absolutely gorgeous. Chopin was master of the piano like no other. I love his Nocturnes, who else could put so much feeling and mood into music?

  • This lovely piece was posthumously published and the exact date of its composition is still unknown. Although it is 'simpler' than most of his other Nocturnes, it is still a small masterpiece that can convey an almost uncanny sense of reposeful melancholy, for want of a better expression. All the same, only this music can transmit its message... and no one else but Chopin could have written a music of such a tender and delicate intimacy.

  • The melancholy was there because Chopin had come to terms with the fact that he was dying. THink about it, it was the last Nocturne he wrote; it was a farewell message of sorts. I can hear a great air of weary satisfaction in this piece; the music is saying "I have nothing left to do" and. The crescendos are the occasional notes of protest to the inevitability of death. They are overpowered in a way by the smooth, relaxed, almost content character of the majority of this piece.

  • While everybody has a right of expresing his or her opinion, it must be said that Chopin was one of the greatest musicians of all time and he was able to express, in his music, an enormous range of human emotions, including , happiness, anger, an enormous amount of passion and yes, sometimes a certain sadness and desolation. Other great composers did also, in their own way, express these emotions in their creations.

  • Couldnt explain better myself. Chopins pieces are so amazing...I think that many people dont understand the power in his pieces..

  • i did this song for my summer recital. now i have to do it for a school talent show.... i cant remeber it!!! i got 1 day to memorize it! ugh.

  • How did the talent show go?

  • i didnt happen yet. its on the 29th. the 6th was a rehershal. i didnt go cause i had a debtist appointment! i was glad! :) still working on it! almost perfect!:)

  • not everything sad

he was the king of the good sense of humour

  • This guy must've been so depressed. Everything he wrote sounds sad

  • have you heard his waltzes? like minute waltz? beautiful but not sad... or his mazurkas..

  • Not everything...

Have you ever heard his poloneses?

And we mustn't judge his musics as sad, they're subjective and can express different sensations.

  • You know what...I've never thought of Chopin this way but it's so true. Obviously this is a nocturne and there are happier pieces he wrote but I don't associate him with anything but minor key...

  • I do think though, it is a great mistake to regard Chopin's music as being sad or the man as a depressed fellow. His music can be very brilliant and even demand a great deal of athletic vigor from the pianist. His Polonaises, Sonatas, Scherzos, Ballades, F minor Fantasy, Etudes, among many others are an exemple of pianistic virtuosity at its highest level.

  • @audiomagman Scherzi, not "scherzos" (Sorry I had to write it ^^)

  • @MissEwilan

Yes, as an Italian word, scherzi would be the correct plural for this term, but either scherzos or scherzi are used regarding this form of composition. We can see the spelling Scherzos on most LP and CD covers and liner notes. Anyway, thanks for noting this.

  • @audiomagman Ok, I didn't know... Thanks for noting this ;)

  • This is so beautiful.

  • This is Claudio Arrau for sure, I have the Arrau's recording of all Chopin nocturnes, this is him for sure.

  • umm, i think you shouldnt always pause in between measures, and after 1:05 , the timing is uneven. i've heard better D: ,sorry

  • at 00:42 perhaps a pianissimo would fit better... but hey whatever makes you happy man! most of us don't play to pass exams or prepare for concerts... so whatever makes you happy :D

  • I'm not sure if you noticed, but Arrau kind of did prepare for concerts. This interpretation is indeed a serious undertaking, and is of professional quality. I really love the ethereal effect of the interpretation, with its colours, loose phrasing, and subtle changes in dynamics.

  • Indeed, this is one of my most favorite nocturnes by him...

Can you tell me who played this? Or if a recording is available somewhere >.>
