Rudy Lewis given name was Charles Rudolph Harrell (how do you say Google). What would be the point of him faking his death with the kind of talent he possessed. I would venture to say he's probably buried in Philadelphia where he was born. I must add though, he had a hell of a voice, Who would have believe those melodies and lyrics were coming out of that body. Like I've said, no one and I mean no one can sing a love song like RUDY LEWIS.
Rudy Lewis (his name is actually Joseph Rudolph Lewis) is still alive and living in LA. He'd love to know that people appreciate his music. He still loves to sing.
My favorite Drifters are Ben E. King and Rudy Lewis. Just Rudy singing Up On The Roof makes him great in my book. Upon The Roof is my all time favorite song. Where is his family? Everyone has relatives? They should come out and talk to the fans about Rudy Lewis, to help his legacy, because he still has admirers.
when people think of the drifters many think of ben e king all due respect to clyde mcphatter rudy lewis was the complete singer and the heart and soul of the drifters after his death the drifters couldnt replace that voice and it was the end of the prominence of the drifters
WOW! Super effort from a pre-drifters Rudy!Rudy`s tragic death ,right before the recording of 'Under the Boardwalk" led to Johnny Moore taking over the lead vocals again, and he delivered an inspired virtuoso effort as a tribute to Rudy.

Can't stop listening to this song. Like Rudy even more than Ben E King. Similar voice but even more expressive.

Rudy has been my favourite singer forever, but there's so little information on him.
Was he ever filmed or appeared on TV? I would love to actually see footage of him

Rudy could sing. I always felt he had a
wonderfully clear voice much like Sam Cooke and Clyde Mcphatter
