Android Eclair 2.0 on HTC Dream G1 part1

I have an HTG G1 and i'm not sure what software I have on it, is there anyway I can check what kind I have on it?

i dont get how they say the G1 cant support the 2.0 update when a lot of ppl jailbreak and get it. thats so stupid. right now i have 1.6 firmware

I'm very glad that you impressed with design,but the HTC dream DOES NOT display caller ID for incoming calls, only displays the number but not a name. I was really disappointed from the day 1.

i just got my g1 since it was the only android phone for tmobile i liked that had a keyboard...

i htc dream from rogers in canada, i dont see the update firmware option in about phone. i see my firmware version is 1.5 but i cant interact with it. is it possible to upgrade my phone to 2.0? will rogers be releasing a 2.0 update?

If T-mobile only went up to 1.6 then Rogers will barely catch up to that. He rooted his phone, which has no limitations to memory. Go to XDA-developers to learn more.

@khansaadat from all i have read the g1 will not be getting 2.0. google doesnt think it can handle it

Go to settings>about phone>system updates. That should get your phone updated to donut. Strange though that you never got the OTA from T-Mobile.

Also, do you think 2.0 on Samsungs i7500/i5700 would be possible/usable?

No I haven't swap.. but I think that Android 2.0 will be usable on Samsung Galaxy ;-)

Good. But enabling swap should improve responsiveness (and capacity) presumably.
