It was a good shot for sure - but how many other top level fighters has Pacquiao knocked out cold with a single shot when they were still fresh. Mosley, Marquez, Cotto, Margarito, Clottey, De La Hoya, Barrera; Pacquiao didn't do this to any of them.

Hatton was just not in this class. Despite being unbeaten in 40 odd fights and having a few world titles, the only decent fighter he met before Mayweather and Pac was a 36 yr old Kostya Tszyu. As soon as he stepped up he got iced.

Don't get me wrong, Hatton was a good solid fighter and clearly the best at his weight domestically and in Europe for a long period. He was also competitive at world class level (i.e. a top 10 fighter); but unluckily he came along at a time when the 140 -147lb divisions were packed full of very good fighters and he fought the two best of them.

In this field (the best since Pryor, Leonard, Benitez, Duran & Hearns reigned in the early 80's) Hatton was at the low end of the top 10.
