Desslok was awesome. I wish, though, that the Comet Empire series had a different ending. Instead of having Trelayna save them, it would've been great to have Desslok and the Gamilon fleet come to their aid. I can picture the Yamato and the Gamilons taking on Zordar's dreadnaught together.

@enterprise160 - if you've never seen them you may wish to check out the Yamato movies (available from Voyager Entertainment), notably "Yamato the New Voyage", and "Final Yamato". New Voyage takes place immediately after Star Blazers season 2: Desslok returns home to Gamilon and finds it and Iscandar threatened by the Dark Nebula Empire. He teams up with the Star Force to fight them. In Final, Desslok saves the Yamato's butt with last minute rescue. Almost (but not quite) what you wanted!
