Of course there are lot of explosives more destructive than PETN, but petn isn't a crushing explosive... It's only initial explosive, usually mixed with Pb(N3)2.

It's not better or wore explosive than HMX, RDX, TNT or other it's got just inner destination.

Have you guys actually ever set off high explosives? That looks about right for a buried charge of 25kg. At mines they often set off charges of several tons and you see even less, its simply because its underground.

Yeah you're right take ANFO for instance ammonium nitrate and fuel oil first you need to mix the ammonium nitrate and fuel oil and then create a booster and place a blasting cap in the charge. And u will need a car battery and a lot of wire lol. Hope that helped.

although creating 25kg of PETN would be a bit overkill. it is hard to find so much pentaerythritol without being put on black list of some kind.

my guess would be that this guy got alot of erythritol and made ETN (PETN brother compound)
