  • nice nice

  • Very Good show

  • The greatest TV theme song and opening credits of all time.

  • Actually,H5O was hardly a cult series!!

it was in the top 10 from 1968-80.

  • Excellent quality!

    BRAVO! Great video.

One of the most sophisticated orchestrations ever.

  • The coolest show ever

  • It brings me back, so many memories.

  • I wanna do another line ...

  • I like this version.

  • Too brassy

  • Jack Lord...still a sexy intro after all these years!

  • Book 'em, Dano!

  • Excellent French Horns @ 0:31 through the end! At that point, trombones take over the melody from the trumpets. I was in High School when the first 5-0 aired and most High Bands were playing this theme as part of their half-time shows---Awesome band arrangement!!!

  • love the part showing the DC-8 (most likely United)!

  • I agree, the best TV intro in history.

  • The best intro to any T.V. show.

  • At 0:37 that chick is so perfectly doing the belly dance that the camera misses some frames per second.

  • nice one!

  • This is such a catchy theme tune.

  • so cool, just takes me back to being a kid again

  • @Gerogiancounty Nope. I'd beg to differ. The mother of all tv themes would have to be the Doctor Who theme, then the Hawaii Five-O theme. ;D

  • @DC11961 Wrong. The Jeffersons theme is number one!

  • @MarauderOSU I'm gonna admit that I also tried to be right, but there is just NO way you can be right or wrong with the question "what is the best tv theme of all time?" as you can't measure likeability. Therefore, you thinking the Jefferson's theme being the best is just an opinion. As is mine.

  • I only watch the intro on the new version....

    to me its

    CSI Hawaii

    and cant stand it

  • New series better pwn dis.

  • top stuff...i wish i could figure out how to copy it....

  • Book him Dan-O

  • ohh yeah...!!

  • I watched one episode of the new 5-0 and it sucked ass. Pretty representative of how stupid people are today compared to 1968. The real McGarrett wouldnt dress or act like an asshole like the new one does.

  • i just love, love, love how Jack Lord turns to face the camera, the timing is perfect to the music and i love how his eyes sweep to look at the camera (*drools* *dies*), NO ONE DOES IT BETTER. One word to describe him - SUAVE!!!!!!

  • @scorpiogirl2010 Agree one hundred percent with your comment.

    Rowan Atkinson as Steve Mcgarret

Robin Williams as Danny ' Danno' Williams

Samo Hung as Chin Ho Kelly

    Mike Tyson as Kono

    Jim Carey as Governor

Will Ferrell as Police Chief ( HPD )

    Howie Mandel as Wo Fatt

  • @lesliefan79

These are the actors fighting for the role to play Steve Macgarret ( movie version )

    1) Will Ferrell 2 ) Jay Leno 3) Crispin Glover 4) Steve Carrell 5) Rowan Atkinson

as for Danno , its between Robin Williams and Danny Devito

most likely Robin Williams will get the nod :)

  • @Gerogiancounty you're putting me on, aren't you?

  • @lesliefan79 , talks now on for the movie version

Will Ferrell as Steve Mcgarret , Robin Williams as Danno , the Villian Wo Fatt will either be played by Andrew Zimmerns or Howie Mandell

Book him Danno ..... nanoooo nanoooo !

  • @Gerogiancounty OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh, Wo Five O'W that was great in DOLBY STEREO PRO-LOGIC a bit more depth over the mono TV sound sounds better than before...

  • i watched this when i was a kid and i thought Jack Lord in the opening scene was drop dead gorgeous. Now almost 40 years later, i still think he's drop dead gorgeous!! His half-smile when he spun around never fails to set my heart a-flutter <3

  • Wonderful !!!

  • MOTHER OF ALL TV THEMES !!! Book him Danno

  • @Gerogiancounty i totally agree:) , the original series was aewsome!! We are having the re-runs of first season on cable TV right now.

  • This is exactly how I remember this song when I was a kid...my dad used to watch this every week, so that meant I watched it every week!

  • This is a HORRIBLE version of this song. The drum part is horribly stepped on, the bass sounds like it's clipping most of the song and the who thing sounds tinny and shrill.

Stick with the original or at least go with a decent copy. The version by the Brian Setzer and his orchestra is really good and very true to the original (which is pretty much impossible to improve upon).

  • One of the best theme songs of all time. Always got my heart pumping. RIP James MacArthur.

  • Theme Song is way too different. this was conducted by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra!!!!!!!

  • R.I.P.

  • Book em Danno. RIP

  • the magnificent, the splendid!!! The original Hawaii Five-O had something indescribably memorable about it....It All the characters were more cerebral.

  • AWESOME show!

  • Best version on youtube. Very clean and full. Thanks.

  • The Ventures! Oh yeah!!!!

  • THIS INTRO IS FROM THE EARLY TO MID 70s NEW ERA OF THE DECADE. I LOVED THE SHOW AS A KID.

  • Interesting version. I`ve never heard it before. This version was never used on the original show. Where`s it from?

  • Awesome!!!!

  • Jack Lord on the top balcony of the Ilikai Hotel is classic. Before the present-day TV remake, if a movie version would have been considered, George Clooney would've made a great Steve McGarrett.

  • Classic!

  • That undershot of the plane flying by fits the music awesomely!!

  • @TheDRexor the jetliner sequences, culminating with the engine close up fit in superbly. The opening really conveyed the culture of the location. Not the best version of the classic music tho, try the Ventures.

  • this was a great show looking forward to new series mr. lord u were great as well as mr. mcauthur mr. chan mr. zulu

  • Badabooombooom... dum dum! dun dunduuuun duuuun dundundduuuuun... Love it

  • One Question: Who is the Awesome Hula Babe at 00:36- I've wanted to know for almost FORTY YEARS!!!!! ;)

  • The new Hawaii 5-0 looks like a piece of shit in the previews. I'd rather they run the first 5 seasons once a week - no one can come close to Jack Lord.

  • Zulu and Kono....what a crackup.

  • @beauwulff Aw, come on, ol' Kono & Zulu whooped some in this show...a good ol' kanakas...well, it is kind of like watching a bull walk a tightrope, but they're cool.

  • fantastic great sound takes me way back

  • Awesome

  • Us of the older set are lucky to have seen these in their time.

  • They should've used this for the opening to the 2010 show.

  • in stereo but badly altered ...

    unfortunately ...

  • One of the greatest television theme songs written. Between the video editing and the music, really one of the best TV show openings I can recall. I can't speak much for the show itself, as I rarely watched it as a kid, but what a great first minute.

  • I'm afraid TV stinks today.

  • @bluemax111f I agree with you TV has sunk to rock bottom, I grew up with TV in the 60's through 70's in those days TV at its best,

  • Those theme songs were truly classics! There was full orchestration and you can FEEL the power in the music. Thanks for posting!

  • @bankman58

yeah, the originality of the theme songs was so evident back then. Every great show's theme song, accompanied by it's video lead-in, gave each show it's own personality. Don't see that much in anything these days. Sad.....

  • Yeah!

  • You know I have never seen a single episode of this show but everytime I see this opening, it just takes me a very cool era and reminds you are cool TV shows were back then. That music and montage of shots is just addicting! CSI does the same thing today but obviously updated, but you can feel how THAT show opening was influenced by shows like these.

  • I watch season 1 dvds and think how much better the show is than everyone one of the idiotic "CSI" shows and their garbage spin offs. Detectives works cases not q tip bearing windbreaker clad technicians with no police powers.

  • @bluemax111f Actually the CSI's technicians have greater responsibilities & not only every bit as much police powers in most ways they outrank the uniformed officers. Their jurisdiction is sometimes more clearly defined. Back to H 5-0, the pilot movie was in two parts & was incredibly intense. All the episodes for the ensuing seasons were hard pressed to measure up to that standard brought by the pilot movie.

    FABULOUS Program throughout its run!

  • Cult? It was so mainstream dude. I lived at the crosswalk at the end, just off Lewers St.

  • Best use of music and video together... should be a requirement in broadcasting classes to watch this... it moves...and you get the point. great stuff

  • My friend and I used to get high and watch the hard-case cops kick ass. Hawaii Five O rules.

  • This version sounds EQ'ed? Bass is super loud and distorted...

  • Hmmm... that's slightly different than S1 theme.

  • excelente este tema nunca... nunca pasara de moda, saludos desde LA MANA EL OMBLIGO DEL MUNDO

  • Hey..I have heard so many versions of the theme..is this the actually track they aired ??thanks

  • What an awesome intro. Brings back good memories of good times.

  • Best TV series theme song ever.

  • Book 'em, Dano. Murder one.

  • Excellent - thanks

  • Fantastic!

  • Awesome!!!
