I wish someone would post the original version of this song. I think it was done by dave townsend (the guy who wrote it). I would never have heard it, but I was an exchange student in Denmark in 1976 when it came out. I had my tape recorder with me, and got this song along with Harpo's Horoscope. It eventually faded, and I've been looking for it ever since.

I love this song by Cliff, from the pen of Dave Townsend, as I feel it resurrected his career in the 70's, and it is a heart-wrenching ballad; but in this performance his mannerisms and sound reminds me of Freddie Starr's impersonation of him...he's trying too hard here.

Not surprisingly, I LOVE Elaine's performance, but Cliff is weak in comparison. Much prefer Elaine's duets with Michael Ball (You and I) and Tommy Korberg.
